11 Some numbers Number of applicants is variable each year: applicants, last year was 550 (~ 50 to 60 % BMS); candidates are invited for an interview ( cca 25 for BMS); offers (8 BMS, 8 CPTS, 4 GSHS); If more interesting candidates ranking, waiting list; {approximately 15 groups will start this year}

14 Chance: Unterstützung von Familien und Lebensgemeinschaften MPG erhält im Juni zum zweiten Mal Auditzertifikat berufundfamilie mit Gültigkeit von ; Kooperation mit dem Munich Dual Career Office der TU München seit 2008, weitere in Planung (Köln, Potsdam und Stuttgart); Finanzielle Unterstützung junger Mütter in der Wissenschaft über CNV Stiftung; MPG trägt Kosten für die Vermittlung von Kinderbetreuung und Familienservice; Beiträge an überbetriebliche der Kinderbetreuungs- einrichtungen (z.zt. 204,- pro Kind und Monat); Vertragsverlängerung um 6 Monate bei Schwangerschaft und Geburt. 14 Zuzana Storchova

15 FIVE POINTS 1. Ask important questions, and do not forget what you have asked. 2. Control what you can control rigorously, and do not stress about things which are out of your control. 3. Choose the right people. If you have a shade of doubt, do not take them. 4. Be ready to make hundreds of (little or big) decisions each day, quickly. 5. Strive for excellence.
