2 Foreword It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the ESTnet Software Exhibition 2014, part of the Wales Festival of Innovation. The software development industry is thriving in the UK and in Wales, with annual UK sales of 8billion. ESTnet data tells us demand for software professionals in Wales will increase by almost 50% in the next two years. The exhibition brings companies who are driving this growth in Wales to one place to help them share best practice within the industry and give those from outside an opportunity to discover how new technologies can support their business objectives. 4 Guest speakers Christian Coates Christian is Managing Director and Co-Founder of Method4 Ltd, a software house and technology consultancy based in Cardiff. Method4 delivers bespoke software and integration services. Prior to starting Method4 he was a principal consultant with Atkins (Management Consultants). He delivered various consultancy services to numerous organisations across public and private sector clients including; GlaxoSmithKline, Camelot, Food Standards Agency, Welsh Government and the WDA. David Warrender As Director for Digital Wales & ICT in Welsh Government, David is responsible for the development and exploitation of the digital economy and society. For the ICT sector David supports the minister in driving domestic and international business growth. Before joining the Welsh Government, David spent ten years at Accenture where he was a Partner supporting the Communications and High Tech sectors.

5 Simon Powell Over 25 years in leisure travel and widely known in the industry. Simon began his career with Holiday Express growing to 30M turnover and selling to First Choice Plc. Co-founder of Comtec, growing from a 3 man operation to employing 160 skilled IT professionals and recognised as one of the UK s leading software solutions providers to the travel industry. Simon has advised and invested in multiple online ventures worldwide and is passionate about transforming business through technology. He leads the strategy for Eysys and 4 associated businesses now employing over 40 highly skilled people in Cardiff. David Jones David Jones has a career in IT spanning roles as diverse as start-up CEO, business mentor and non-executive. In 1985, David was CTO of Cardiff-based Aspro Travel, and in 1995 founded Travelink software which he in 2005 to Comtec. These days he works in information security as a consultant his next big project is Ironshield a hand-held hardware-based VPN used for securing laptops and tablets.
