6 CARE OUT OF THIS STRATOSPHERE. AirMed utilizes a wider range of medical staffing than others in the medical transport business. Altitude-experienced physicians, trauma nurses and respiratory therapists are common on AirMed flights, while rarely available with other companies. This is especially important in complicated medical cases and on international missions, which is why the company also taps medical professionals from many areas of adult and pediatric specialties. Thirty-two percent of our international flights involve patients classified in poor to critical condition, and 22% are ventilator-dependent. Routinely lasting more than 20 hours, these transports require the highest level of patient care. All medical team members must complete medical and flight safety training, conducted jointly by the AirMed Medical and Flight Departments, before they are allowed to staff an AirMed flight. The AirMed Medical Department uses multiple levels of staffing to provide each patient with the most appropriate and cost-efficient care. AirMed is one of the few air ambulance providers who staff with advanced practiced or experienced flight nurses as Clinical Coordinators to coordinate all aspects of the patient transport, including communications between the transferring facility and physician and the receiving. MULTIPLE LEVELS OF MEDICAL CARE AVAILABLE ON EVERY AIRMED TRANSPORT ARE: LEVEL I: A specially trained Physician, one ICU-trained Registered Nurse and a Respiratory Therapist (in some cases a Nurse Practitioner may replace the Physician, and a second Registered nurse may replace the Respiratory Therapist on the three person team) LEVEL II: A specially trained physician and an ICU-trained Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist (in some cases a Nurse Practitioner may replace the Physician) LEVEL III: Two ICU trained Registered Nurses or one ICU-trained Registered Nurse and a Respiratory Therapist

All of AirMed s flight crews are simulator trained annually, which exceeds industry standards, and all long-range pilots hold ATP ratings. AirMed invests heavily in the planes it purchases. In fact, the average price of our planes is $9 million. After the purchase, we spend anywhere from days permanently configuring it as a state-of-the-art intensive care unit. Our planes are used exclusively for medical evacuation, not leased for other purposes.
