1 Portfolio Evaluation Rubric Guide Faculty portfolios should address Part A. Personal Statement of Teaching and Learning Philosophy as well as Part B: Faculty Roles - Teaching, College Service, Professional Development, Student Service and Community Service (optional). The purpose of this document is to provide a rubric for the evaluation of portfolios that will help both evaluators and faculty members by providing clear expectations for portfolio submission. Further, a rubric would help to control the subjective nature of evaluation and make the process more meaningful for both faculty and evaluator. This document also provides faculty members with: links to existing GRCC resources an explanation for the summary statement for each category expectations for demonstrating effectiveness in each category according to GRCC s Guide to Developing a Teaching Portfolio guiding questions or suggestions to address in the summary statement additional examples of supporting documentation The rubric describes the expectations for each category and whether the criteria meet expectations or fall below expectations. If any category falls below expectations, faculty members have the opportunity to resubmit a revised portfolio in order to meet expectations. Details for acceptable revisions will be identified by evaluators. If a faculty member has been unable to meet any of the expectations stated in this document, then the faculty member and the evaluator will work together to develop a plan that meets the stated expectations.
