Polona Hercog was the first in Bastad, saving a match point to beat Aravane Rezai in the second round then going on to beat Johanna Larsson for her very first WTA title; Roberta Vinci followed in Budapest, saving two match points to beat Zuzana Kucova in the quarterfinals then going on to beat Irina-Camelia Begu to win her third WTA title of the year, and the sixth WTA title of her career. Both champions set career-highs on this week s rankings - Vinci rose from No.5 to No.3, just a few spots away from the Top 0, while Hercog surged from No.53 to No.37, surging past her previous career-high of No.3. Hercog, Slovenia s only Top 00 player, saved a match point in the early rounds and went on to her first title.
