1 PROGRAM GUIDE: Restaurant and Food Service Industry The following pages have documents that will help get your merchants ready to start their new loyalty program. The FAQ's are helpful for merchants when training staff and with cardholders. All FAQ's may not be useful for all programs but should give a good idea of the types of questions to expect. The pages following the FAQ's show your team how to set up the programs in the SparkBase system. 2 Restaurant and Food Service Industry Overview The restaurant and food service industry can vary greatly from location to location depending on type of restaurant, profit margin, and check averages. The examples below use check average as the differentiator between types of restaurants. Check average $5: The best method for a Loyalty Program for a restaurant with a check average of $5 or less would be a Punch Card. For example, buy 9 items, get the 10 th free. In this model, the number of purchases can vary depending on the company. Most common are: Buy 5 get 1 free, Buy 9 get 10 th free, and Buy 10 get 1 free. What it looks like for Merchant: Customer purchases two sandwiches. The cashier selects Promo Issue from the terminal menu and adds two punches to the customer's loyalty card. If one of the punches completes the goal, one of the sandwiches is free and the other sandwich will be counted as a punch toward their next reward. Check average $15 30: The best method for a loyalty program for a restaurant with a check average of $15 30 would be a threshold rewards program. Earn 1 point for every dollar spent, at 200 points, earn a $20 reward. Most common are: earn 100 points, receive a $10 reward, earn 200 points, receive a $20 reward. These numbers can vary depending on the restaurant. Once the points level is reached, the balance returns to zero and the loyalty card is credited with the cash value. Check average greater than $30: The best method for a loyalty program for a restaurant with a check average of greater than $30 would be a promotions program or a high threshold program. Have a VIP program for frequent diners, who can sign up with a valid address. Receive special offers and a gift on birthdays or anniversaries. Earn 500 points, receive a $25 reward, or earn 1000 points, receive a $50 reward. What it looks like for Merchant: A customer and his wife enjoy dinner at a Restaurant. This restaurant offers a program that rewards $20 for 200 points. Their total bill is $ When he pays the waitress, he also hands her his loyalty card. She swipes the card and 26 points are added to the balance. His total balance is printed out on his receipt. If his added points accumulate to 200, a $20 cash reward is applied to his card and his balance returns to zero. Additional Promotions for Restaurants: Double Points on slow days or slow times (Ex: double points on M F 11 2) Register cell phone number and receive SMS blast for 10% off your check or a free appetizer Make reward unique to user, allow choice of reward, or base it off of frequent purchases SMS or E Mail broadcasts linked to certain transaction types, days, or amounts SMS or E Mail broadcasts to cardholders to build business on short notice or specific promotions

3 Cardholders FAQ's for Punch Card Program How does it work? When a loyalty card member cashes out with an associate, they hand them their punch card and the appropriate amount of punches are added to the card for the total purchases. How do I join? Simply pick up a punch card at any location. Your first punch will begin with your first purchase. You can register your card at getyourbalance.com so you can track your points and card balance. Is there a cost to sign up? No. Your punch card is absolutely free. The more you purchase, the quicker you can receive a free item. What if I don t have my card with me at the time of purchase? Simply provide your server or host(ess) with the phone number registered to your card to earn punches. Card must be present to redeem a free item. What if my Card is lost or stolen? Visit your nearest location and let them know your card has been misplaced. A staff member will be happy to supply you with a new card if your card has been registered or you have the card number. When can I receive my prize? Your prize is available for use on your next visit after your free item has been earned. Does my card ever expire? Never. I visit various company locations, how do I know which locations accept your punch card? We are proud to accept our punch card at every location, no matter where you are. Visit our website to locate a company near you for details. Can I cancel my membership? Yes, your membership can be canceled at anytime. How will I know when I am entitled to a reward? An associate will inform you when you have received a reward or are eligible for your free item. Your balance will be printed on the receipt from your transaction and will have a message when your reward has been reached. How can I check my point balance? Your point balance is always printed on your receipt after each purchase. You may check your point balance online at getyourbalance.com and/or present your card at any location and your server or host(ess) will give you a printout of your point balance.

4 Cardholders FAQ's for Threshold Programs How does it work? When a loyalty card member cashes out with an associate, they hand them their loyalty card. The card is swiped and the total dollar amount is added in points to the balance. For example, a $25 dollar purchase would equal 25 points. The balance is printed on the receipt. Once the total points hits the goal, a cash reward is added to the card, and the balance is returned to zero. How do I join? Simply pick up a membership card at any location. Register your card online at getyourbalance.com by inputting your name, address, phone number, and date of birth. Is there a cost to sign up? No. Membership is absolutely free. What if I don t have my card with me at the time of purchase? To earn points simply provide the phone number registered to the card. In order to redeem rewards, the actual card must be presented. What if my card is lost or stolen? Simply visit your nearest location and we will cancel the lost or stolen card and transfer your earned points and any active dollar amounts to a replacement card if the card is registered. How will I know when I've reached (earned) a reward? Your balance will always be printed on your receipt after final purchase. If you have accumulated enough points to receive a reward, you will be notified on the receipt that the reward has been added to your card and your balance has returned to zero. When can I spend my rewards? Rewards are available for use on your next visit. Can my reward points be used for any purchase? Rewards can be used for any dine in or to go purchase at participating locations (where prohibited by law, rewards can not be used to purchase alcoholic beverages) How can I check my point balance? Your point balance is always printed at the bottom of your receipt after each purchase. You may check your point balance online at getyourbalance.com and/or present your card at any location and your server or host(ess) will give you a printout of your point balance.

5 Do I get points for purchasing gift cards? While you don t get points for buying a gift card, you do get points when paying with a Punch Card Program Setup When setting up a Punch Card program for a merchant there are a few things that will be required in the setup. You will need two value types one of Punches and one for the Free Item (this can be named Free Item, or, could be named to reflect what is being earned, for example, coffee or sandwich). Then, you will need to set up an action that triggers when the final punch has been earned. In this example, 1 free item is earned after 10 have been purchased. Please refer to the Action Add Instructions for more details on each field below. gift card. Does my card ever expire? Never

7 Threshold Reward When setting up a Threshold Reward Program for a merchant there are a few things that will be required in the setup. The first thing to consider is the ratio of points earned to dollars spent. Typically this will be one to one, meaning that if a customer spends $25 they earn 25 points. Some merchants may want to set this up differently, perhaps 2,5, or 10 points per dollar spent. If the merchant is using a ratio other than one to one an action will need to be set up that converts the dollars spent into the correct amount of points. Please see the Action Add instructions for details on how to do this. Once that is complete you can move on to setting up the action that rewards the cardholder after a threshold of points has been met. In this example the program is set up to issue a $20 reward onto the card once 200 points have been earned. Please review the Action Add Instructions for more details on each field below.
