3 3 Dear reader, The purpose of this booklet is to tell you a little about Camping De Roos and the surrounding area. The campsite is situated in a region of outstanding natural beauty, and you will be able to enjoy your holiday in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. The campsite s landscape is a so called river dune landscape - a rarity in Western Europe - formed in the last ice age by sands drifts from dried-up river beds. Typical of the vegetation in this rolling countryside are the oak, blackthorn, hawthorn, spindle tree and dog rose, as well as the lily of the valley, Solomon s seal, speedwell and harebell, which thrive here. You may also spot or hear birds such as the green finch, golden oriole, nuthatch, woodpecker, bullfinch and kingfisher in this ornithological paradise. In addition, the campsite has a flourishing population of rabbits, hare and badgers and if you walk into the woods opposite the campsite in the early morning, you stand a good chance of glimpsing some roe-deer. Our policy is aimed at taking care to preserve our beautiful natural surroundings and the distinctive character of the campsite so that they come fully into their own. We hope that you will share our feeling of responsibility towards the preservation of nature and tranquillity, because your co-operation is vital. 4 4 Campsite amenities Reception Opening hours April and 5 Sept. 2 Oct and April 14 July and 21 August - 4 Sept and July 20 August Campsite shop is open daily from 30 April until 4 September. The shop sells a wide range of health food products and some nonfood articles. Also oven warm pizza s and vegetable pies. The opening hours are posted at the shop. Tel Tearoom with kiosk and terrace on the tributary of the river Vecht. There is a collection of reading material and a good selection of games are available for use. There is also a children s playhouse. The kiosk sells refreshments and snacks. Open daily from 30 April - 8 May and 9 July 4 September. In the period 9 May 8 July: weekends only. Daily opening hours vary. The tearoom is open every day from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. Bicycle hire during reception opening hours. Please pick up the bicycle(s) before 3 p.m. Rent: 7.60 per day. Children s bicycles: from 3.50 to 5.50 per day. Children s tandems: per day. Child s saddles: 1.60 per day (child s saddles only with bikes). Launderette (to the right of the campsite shop). Tokens are available at reception. Washing token 4.60 including washing powder. Drying costs Use of the spinner and iron is free of charge. Swimming facilities There is a children s pool and beach on the tributary of the river Vecht. You can also swim in the river itself, where we have placed landing stages with steps. Watch out for the submerged rocks on the

5 banks, though. They are covered with mussels that have very sharp-edged shells. Do not walk on these rocks barefooted. The water in the tributary has been approved for swimming. Note, however, that swimming water is not drinking water. Swimming is at your own risk. 5 A number of small playgrounds, a play castle and a kite flying field Heated sanitary facilities The campsite contains four sanitary buildings, two of them are heated. They contain spacious showers, a toddlers shower and baby bath, but also washing cabinets and a washing-up area. All with free hot water. Football pitch, volleyball court and basketball court In high season every Wednesday afternoon football matches are organised for children. Football court (field with boarding) at the end of the car park. Table tennis in the building to the left of the campsite shop. Bring your own bats and balls or buy them at reception. Table football in the summer-house near the children s pool. Bottled gas 5 kg bottles and Campingaz tanks are available at reception, along with the necessary accessories. Cooling elements The campsite also hires out frozen cooling elements. Costs: 0.30 per frozen element. You pay a deposit of 2 per cooling element. During high season, cooling elements can be collected from the square near the entrance twice a day: a.m. and p.m. In low season: via reception. Telephone box and 2 Internet units in the launderette. Costs internet access: 1 for 15 minutes. WiFi There is a free WiFi Hotspot in the tearoom (available from 9 a.m. til noon). Post box The post is collected once a day (except on Sunday and Monday). Pigeonholes in the launderette. Tourist information Various folders are available at reception. Guests can also borrow a variety of nature guides. Notice board in the launderette. The entertainment program is posted at the door. Lost and found If you find anything, please hand it in at reception. If you lose anything, look in the lost property box in the launderette. First Aid post at reception. There is a defibrillator in the launderette.

10 10 Make a reservation Late arrival, early departure You can reserve your favourite pitch per day for a surcharge of 5 Changing your reservation is subject to a surcharge of 2.50 Advance payment 7.50 for each day reserved, to be paid within 8 days of making the reservation For packages, we ask for full payment within 8 days of your reservation Cancellation costs If you cancel your reservation up to 3 months prior to the scheduled date of arrival, you will receive a refund of 75% of the advance payment you made, minus 7.50 administrative costs If you cancel your reservation up to 2 months prior to the scheduled date of arrival, you will receive a refund of 50% of the advance payment you made, minus 7.50 administrative costs If you cancel your reservation up to 1 month prior to the scheduled date of arrival, you will receive a refund of 25% of the advance payment you made, minus 7.50 administrative costs If you cancel your reservation within 1 month of the scheduled date of arrival, the advance payment you made will not be refunded Cancellation costs package deals: see the general provisions on our website In the event that you arrive later and/or leave earlier than the period of your reservation, you will be charged the basic rate. However, you will be given the opportunity to use these days later in the season. You will receive a voucher for the unused days, which will serve as the basis for a settlement pro rata to the number of days used later. This voucher will still be valid in 2017, but one day will be deducted. These voucher-regulations do not apply to package deals. Please note: the voucher is person-related and can not be exchanged for money. A car free campsite 4/5 (12.00 noon) - 17/5 (12.00 noon) 8/7 (12.00 noon) - 29/8 (12.00 noon) During these periods, motor vehicles are not permitted on the campsite, which means that everyone is obliged to park in the car park You may only use your car at the campsite upon arrival and departure On the day of arrival, you must return your car/motorcycle to the car park within four hours after arrival On the day of departure, first collect your exit card from reception. You will then have four hours to leave the campsite During car free periods, only camper vans registered as such are allowed on the campsite. The camper vans must remain on their pitch throughout their stay

11 Natural Campsite Arrival after reception is closed 11 One section of Camping De Roos (pitches 254 up to 276) is an officially recognised Natural Campsite. This means that the general rules of the Natural Campsites Foundation do apply here: A Natural Campsites card must be present per pitch (these are for sale at reception for 14.95) No cars/motorbikes are allowed throughout the season (except on arrival and departure) The maximum stay is 28 days Your tent/caravan cannot be left uninhabited overnight The pitches are exclusively intended for tents The short stay fields The two short stay fields are exclusively intended for hikers and bikers If you come by car - or is your luggage delivered by car - you are not permitted to use the short stay fields There is always room for walkers and cyclists and no need for them to book in advance If you arrive after closing time, please ring the bell at reception. If someone is present, we will gladly assist you. We are set up for this on Fridays. If no one is available (and if you arrive after 9 p.m.), you can find a place to stay overnight in the car park and sign in the following day. Please let us know in advance. 3 Please bring your own bath towels, tea towels and bed linen for children s cots as these items cannot be hired. 4 Half the rental price should be paid within eight days of reserving the chalet. The remaining half must be paid on arrival. 5 One person at most is permitted over occupying the chalet in excess of the number of persons for which the bungalow is furnished. Costs: 4 per person (aged 3 and over) per night. 6 The parking fee for more than one car or motorcycle in the car park is 1 a day or 1.50 a night. House rules for chalet occupants 1 The chalets can be occupied from 2.30 p.m. onward and must be vacated before 10 a.m. on the day of departure. 2 Dogs are not allowed in the chalets. 3 In the periods 4-17 May and 8 July - 29 August you are obliged to park your car or motorcycle in the car park. Outside those periods, you may park a maximum of one car at the bungalow. 4 Please make sure that beds slept in by small children are protected with a plastic sheet (available at reception). 5 The duvets are exclusively intended for use on the beds. 6 Furniture may not be used outside. 7 The chalets are non smoking: it is not allowed to smoke inside. 8 Please use plastic liners in the waste bin. You can deposit full rubbish bags in the container in the car park. 9 If something breaks or is no longer in good condition, please report this to reception. 10 It is not allowed to attach washing lines to trees or bushes. This also applies to hammocks. 11 PIease leave the bungalow tidy at the end of your stay. We will take care of the cleaning but would you please not leave any washing-up, empty the rubbish and return any hired bed linen to reception before you leave. 12 Please unplug the refrigerator when you leave. You may leave on the pilot lights of the heater. 13 Payment for the use of gas and for any items missing from the inventory should be made on departure.

14 14 General rules of conduct 1 On arrival, you should report to reception, where you are required to register. You can select your own pitch, provided it is not reserved. Ask at reception about this. When the number of people or anything else changes please inform us on the day of the change. 2 You must position your caravan or tent in such a way that the middle of your caravan or tent is opposite the pitch number post. Distance to post (in depth): max. 2 metres. Extra tents to the left and/or right of tent/caravan. 3 A small trailer up to 1.5 m² can stay at the tent, larger ones must be left in the car park. 4 Dogs are never allowed on the campsite, cats must be kept on a leash. 5 Mopeds and scooters are not permitted to enter the site, and must be placed in the appro priate shed at the car park. 6 Please drive slowly (5 km/hr) on the campsite. No children behind the wheel! 7 During the periods 4-17 May and 8 July - 29 August it is compulsory to park cars and motorcycles in the car park. Loading or unloading at the pitch is only permitted on the day of arrival/departure. In these periods also camper vans are only allowed to drive at the campsite on the day of arrival/departure 8 From 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. you are asked not to drive/ride your car/ motorcycle on the campsite. 9 If you receive guests during the day, you must ensure that they: possess a valid admission ticket leave before 10 p.m. also observe the rules If your guests arrive while the reception is closed, they will still be required to pay on departure, or you can pay for them. If you have guests for a longer period, they must register at reception on arrival. 10 Attaching washing lines to trees or bushes is not permitted as they can be a blot on the landscape. Do not hang up flags or attach tent canopies and hammocks to trees or bushes. 11 Children under the age of 6 may not use the sanitary facilities unaccompanied. It is not permitted to smoke in the sanitary buildings. 12 Young people must return to their parents tent/caravan by 11 p.m. at the latest. Parents have to make sure this occurs. 13 You can borrow a rubbish bin from us. These can be found under the lean-to to the right of the launderette. Please use a bin liner and return the bin to us clean upon your departure. 14 Chemical toilets and all other toilet receptacles must be emptied in the appropriate disposal facility (see plan), not in the toilets in the sanitary buildings.

15 15 Pour used water, e.g. dishwater, into the drain of a tap, sanitary building or toilet receptacle disposal facility. Do not dig holes next to your tent/caravan. 16 Keep the campsite clean. Make sure there is no chance of litter. Deposit waste at the specially designated places: domestic waste in the large container organic waste on the compost heap glass in the bottle bank metal in the metal container paper and cardboard in the paper container plastic, but also cans and milk- and juice cartons, in the plastic container spent batteries in the box in the launderette household chemical waste in the box in the launderette 21 It is allowed to barbecue, but we ask you to be careful! The barbecue grill must be free from the ground in order to prevent scorch marks. It is possible to borrow tiles at reception. It s not allowed to make a fire in the barbecue grill. 22 It is not allowed to play with water balloons at the campsite. 23 It is prohibited: to light (camp)fires, either open or in fire baskets or pots to dig holes to drive posts in the ground to tie hammocks to trees to climb trees to loiter in the bushes to clip trees or bushes to fly acrobatic kites * to fly with drones 7 The seven basic rules Respect the place and quiet Give yourself and your fellow campers the chance to enjoy some peace and quiet. Radio and TV may not be used within earshot of others Do not take liberties with nature Respect flowers and (water) plants. Do not pick them Make sure the electrical fittings in the caravan/tent comply with the safety requirements. A three-core flex and Euro plug (CEE standard) are obligatory. You have the use of 6 Amps (= 1320 watts), bear in mind the wattage of the equipment you use. 18 Only small inflatable boats are permitted on the tributary of the river Vecht. Canoeing is only allowed on the river Vecht. Please note! Out on a motorboat on the river Vecht max. 9 km/hr. 19 Party tents and event shelters are not permitted and may not be used as an awning or tent extension. Army tents, marquees or other large tents unless specifically used for camping purposes are also not allowed. 20 Fishing is possible on the campsite in the river Vecht and in its tributary river. Anglers aged 14 and over need a fishing permit. 24 You may only set up a satellite dish on your own pitch. 25 No trading activities are permitted, including putting your tent or caravan up for sale during your stay on the campsite. 26 Leave your pitch clean and in good condition. If torrential rain makes it absolutely necessary to dig a ditch around your tent, fill it in before you leave. 27 Take account of the opening hours of reception. Pay on time. It is not possible to exchange gas bottles after closing time. 28 If you break any of the above rules or spoil the good atmos phere on the campsite by disruptive behaviour, the campsite owner is entitled to deny you further access to the site. 29 The campsite-owner accepts no liability whatsoever for the consequences of personal injury or material damage having occurred during the stay at the campsite. Respect other people s property Avoid causing damage to the campsite, buildings and property of your fellow campers Drive at walkink pace Drive as slowly as possible on the campsite. Think of the children Be careful with fire You are urgently requested to exercise the utmost caution with fire. Any kind of open fire is prohibited Do not waste water Do not let taps run unnecessarily. Use water moderately and consciously Show a little consideration Keep the campsite and the sanitary buildings clean! Leave your pitch in good condition when you depart

16 16 W N Z O Out and about... Castle Het Nijenhuis Explore the beautiful nature reserves that make the Vecht Valley so special. We have prepared some wonderful cycle and walking routes that give you ample opportunity to discover this scenic area. Available at reception. Enjoyable children s bicycle route (19 km) trough the woods in Ommen direction. On the way you will pass organic dairy farm De Meulenhorst, Castle Eerde and playground De Nieuwe Brug. The children s bicycle route is available at reception ( 0.80). A nice walk: the Beerze path Beginning opposite from the campsite, and marked along the way by poles, the Beerze path offers a walk of ± 11 km through varying woodlands and the old village of Beerze. This route is indicated on the hiking routes network map (the purple route). Also available at reception is the map with the convenient cycling network: 1200 km cycling routes throughout the Vecht valley; at every junction you can choose for another route ( 5.95). We also have a very useful map with the extensive network of hiking routes in the Vecht valley ( 2.95). On this map every junction has a unique number so you can wander endlessly without losing the way. Several routes pass through the campsite, for example the white-blue Vecht valley walking path. How about a canoe trip to experience the Vecht valley from the water? A van will be waiting near the Vecht bridge in Ommen to take you to the starting point of the trip. From then on it is up to you to canoe back to Ommen at you own pace, taking in the beautiful scenery as you do so. Information can be obtained from Rederij Peters, tel

17 Deventer In July and August every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon (2 4 p.m.): playing on the Village Green. Children s entertainment in the centre at the Brink. Free loan of traditional and modern Dutch toys. Info: tel Beerze Castle Het Nijenhuis a perfect spot to recharge your battery. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the place, the beautiful landscape, the impressive castle, the magnificent gardens, and the art exhibited there, both ancient and contemporary. Castle Het Nijenhuis lies on the road from Heino to Wijhe. A brochure can be obtained from reception. The Wolf trail is an adventure walk for children (approx. 2.5 km) in the woods near Stegeren with all kinds of games along the way. A rucksack containing a description of the trail (an English version is available at reception), assignments and a magic sweet that will (temporarily) turn you into a wolf is available at the start of the trail: restaurant De Bootsman (closed on Mondays), Coevorderweg 19, Stegeren-Ommen. Costs The Lemelerberg and the Archemerberg An interesting forest and moor area (850 hectares) with lateral moraines that emerged during ice age about 150,000 years ago. Serveral marked walks start at the Lemeler berg café on the Kerkweg, including the special childeren s route In the Lions footsteps. Maps are available at the café. There is a fun-filled natural playground near the restaurant. Pony riding at the Lourenshoeve At this horse riding school in July and August lessons are given for children without riding experience.
