3 Three-Year-Old Futurity General Rules 1. The competition will follow Ranch Horse Association of America (RHAA) criteria. Visit the RHAA website for more information. 2. There is no time ownership rule against the horse showing and its owner to the competition. A transfer of a horse does not prove ownership. Horses do not need to be shown by the owner. 3. Starting in 2010 a monetary incentive program will be offered for limited riders. Limited riders will be based upon review. 4. There will be one class for this competition. Incentive program is included in the one class. 5. Horses must be registered. 6. Pay slots are determined on the number of entries. 7. There will be an entry fee paid by the contestant. 8. Following 2007, foals out of a nominated stallion, owned or leased stallions by participating consignors, are eligible to compete in future events even when sold by private treaty. 9. Stallions must be nominated by January 31 of the same year, and only Caprock Rancher s Sale & Futurity members may nominate Stallions. 10. The top 2 horses are eligible to be consigned in the sale, the same year. 3

4 Sale & Futurity, LLC Youth Class General Rules Youth Class General Rules Begins July 17-18, 2015 All youth must have a signed release of liability from parents or guardian to be eligible to participate. Age 18 years and younger as well a special needs individuals. All rules are subject to change without notice at the discretion of Caprock Ranchers Board. Horse eligibility o Anyone can own the horse being shown; youth does not have to own the horse. o Years 2015 & 2016 open to all ages of horses. o Years 2015 & 2016 are open to all horses and any breeder. o Year 2017 the horse that is shown by the youth must be a Caprock Ranchers produced horse or by a Caprock Ranchers Nominated Stallion. o Year 2017 horse can be of any age. Buckles awarded to top two places. Entry Fee - $150 youth o $300 to sign up for youth and incentive or open (horse eligibility for this requires the horse be produced by a Caprock Stallion. Competition time Saturday morning One run. RHAA Wrangler Class Rules apply but excluding the ownership rule. 4

5 Team Roping #11 Team Roping Friday, July 18, 2015 Mallet Arena in Levelland, Texas A #11 Slide Team Roping with an incentive for riding Caprock Ranchers bred horses will be held on Friday, July 18, 2015 at the Mallet Arena in Levelland, Texas. The roping will be held during the annual 2 day event of the Caprock Ranchers Ranch Horse Futurity and horse Sale. The books for the roping will open at 5:00 p.m. Roping will began at 6:00 p.m. The #11 Slide roping is either enter 1 and draw 1 or you may draw 2 (both) partners. Entry fee is $100 and you can enter twice. The team roping inventive has been sponsored by the Haystack Mountain Ranch. 5

6 BILL & DANA SMITH/ SPUR HEADQUARTERS RANCH Spur, TX Bill Smith T F A cow-calf operation under the management of Bill Smith. Espuela Cattle Co. consists of Spur Headquarters Ranch in Dickens County and the J.B. Morrison Ranch in Kent County. A broodmare band that was put together in 1986 and is kept at the Spur Headquarters to raise riding horses for the ranch and some to sell. Ranches MATADOR CATTLE COMPANY Matador, TX Bob Kilmer or Tim Washington T bob.kilmer@matadorranch.com or tim.washington@matadorranch.com In December of 1882, the Matador Land & Cattle Company was formed by a group of Scottish investors. In 1951 it was sold to Lazard Freres and Company of London. In 1953, Fred C. Koch purchased three sub-divided corporations of land. Mr. Koch also bought the Flying V cattle brand and the 50 horse brand, both of which were used by the Scots during their 70 year ownership. Today the Matador Ranch covers about 130,000 acres in the rolling plains just off of the caprock around Matador, TX. It is managed to produce beef through its cow-calf and stocker operations. In addition, the ranch has a small broodmare band. It focuses on producing horses that are athletic, versatile and have the right disposition to produce horses that are dependable AQHA Best of the Remuda Award. 6

It is located in northwest NM, and our families have been here for 50+ years. The horse operation has also been in business for over 50 years. Our goal is to produce very athletic, versatile horses with great disposition. We also raise performance quarter horses. Our horses are proving themselves in many areas. From the finals of the NCHA Non-Pro & Limited Non Pro, the Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro, to top horses at ranch rodeos at Abilene and Alpine, to high school rodeos and The Timed Event Championship in Guthrie, OK, the Muleshoe horses are making the grade. Muleshoe horses have been bred for cow-sense, agility, speed and are good all-around horses AQHA Best of the Remuda Award. Ranches PATTERSON QUARTER HORSES Garden City, TX Roe Patterson T F Roe Patterson bought the Bob Ballenger Remuda in Roe has since expanded the bloodlines of both the mares and the studs. Today, Patterson Ranch breeds top quality performance horse lines as well as the working ranch lines that Bob Ballinger was famous for. 7

Jim Frank and one son - Ryon - take care of the daily duties. When excess help is needed, our other son - Jory - helps out and neighboring is good in our area. We run a cow-calf and yearling operation, and when conditions are right, we take in stockers for grazing. There are 25,000+ rough acres with the Canadian River being the north boundary. This is a country that requires good horses. Ranches WAYNE & JANNA SMITH PERFORMANCE HORSES Dickens, TX Wayne Smith T or Located in Dickens, Texas, we have been breeding American Quarter Horses for 25 years. Our horses are bred to cut a cow with plenty of speed to go gather a steer in arena competition. Our broodmare band consists of about 20 mares and we have 3 studs. We have trained horses for and/or competed in NCHA cutting events, USTRC team roping, high school, college, open and ranch rodeos. Also, RHAA competitions, barrel racing events, AQHA and APHA shows. We sell most of our colts as yearlings and two-year olds by direct sales. I shoe horses and day work. 8
