2 There s a place for you at CCBC. These three people all had an interest in photography, but they all had different goals. CCBC helped them develop their artistic aspirations while creating extra income. WHO? DuRaun Epps, Senior Graphic Designer, Photographer and Multimedia Specialist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Washington Medical Center. What Courses Did You Take? Portrait Photography class with instructor, Leo Heppner Why CCBC? CCBC Continuing Education helped me gain more confidence in exploring various lighting techniques, upgrading my equipment and truly capturing the subject s personality in each photograph. Results: DuRaun has been able to apply his graphic arts talents to photography and expand his business. He specializes in corporate and events photography. His photos have been featured in various magazines, annual reports and brochures. He is enjoying the new direction his career is taking and is anxious to pursue more classes with CCBC. WHO? Greg Nickey, a student in the CCBC Single Step program designed for those with learning disabilities and differences. What Courses Did You Take? Single Step classes to improve academics and independent living skills. WHY CCBC? Greg has always had an eye for what makes a good photo composition. With Single Step, he learned how to channel his talents into a productive photography career. Results? Greg has taken many photos across all CCBC campus locations which are used in college publications and promotional advertising pieces. He also participates in the CCBC Foundation Photo Connection, an initiative that brings art to the community by highlighting the photographic talent and works of CCBC students. Greg s passion for photography has been featured in more than 100 Photo Connections exhibits at CCBC and throughout the county. WHO? Leo Heppner, an internationally published and award-winning photographer, has spent more than two decades teaching, and over 30 years photographing weddings, political campaigns, special events, model portfolios and individual portraits. What Classes Do You Teach? Action Photography, Portrait Photography, On Location Photography & Introduction to Digital Photography Why CCBC? I m always excited to share my knowledge and experience in photography with those who want to learn more. My goal is to provide students with the tools they need to further their interest and success in photography. Results? Leo has written articles for many photography magazines. His extensive knowledge of photographic composition, lighting and technique makes him sought after by companies and those who want to enrich their photography experience.

7 Career Training FoodWorks: The Maryland Food Bank s Culinary Training Series Train for a new career while helping hungry Marylanders in need! This 12-week workforce development program is designed to give students interested in the food service industry on-the-job training, experience in the Maryland Food Bank s (MFB) Bauer Community Kitchen, a state-of-the-art culinary facility. The unique course teaches an array of cooking techniques, including knife cuts, recipe conversions, and commercial equipment use, as well as food safety and sanitation standards. As part of their real world experience, students will use donated food and locally-grown fresh ingredients to prepare a variety of meals from scratch for MFB Kids Supper Club and Summer Club programs, which are served daily in after school and summer enrichment programs. FoodWorks Culinary Training Series To receive this certificate you must successfully complete: Culinary Foundations I Culinary Foundations II Culinary Foundations III Culinary Job Readiness Training Before beginning the FoodWorks Culinary Training Series, students must complete an application.
