2 Basic facts and key figures of the company Elomatic is an internationally operating Finnish consulting and engineering company. We supply a complete and comprehensive range of plant and ship design, engineering and project management services, from feasibility studies to life cycle solutions. In addition we are among the leading software companies with our 3D plant and ship design solutions. We have organised our operations into four business units: Life Science, Marine, Paper & Mechanical, and Cadmatic. Close relationship with customers has been the solid foundation for our success. Turnover for the fiscal year 2005 was 31M and for 2006 we estimate that it will grow to 37M. Our financial background is solid with the equity ratio over 50%. 4 Engineering the future Our vision and ability to invent new ideas and new ways of working is built on a long tradition. Focused internal development work begun already in the 70 s. Desire to develop, re-engineer, and continuously improve performance is a part of the Elomatic culture. After the era of plastic models in the 70's and the traditional 3D plant design modelling in the 90's we have stepped into a new concept of design and engineering: the World Wide Engineering concept. World Wide Engineering is a concept in which the 3D model in the form of ebrowser allows true and flexible distribution of data between the different participants of the project. ebrowser is light enough - small in kilobytes - to be used through the internet and easy to use by everyone. In addition it is intelligent and carries information and references to other databases. ebrowser is a tool that helps in communication and visualisation at all stages. This unique tool can be used in training and as a user interface in project management and follow up as well as in document management and maintenance applications. 5 World Wide Engineering People and organisations participating in a project are often geographically widely spread. The need for design capacity may be very big and suitable resources to complete a major engineering project may locate widely distributed. Elomatic has built up both the resource network for additional capacity and has also developed the needed technology to work in the distributed global project environment. We have made major investments in integrating the design and engineering phase with document management and maintenance solutions. The result is an integrated concept to support the whole lice cycle of the plant or the ship. Life Cycle Support Elomatic is further developing the World Wide Engineering concept to a comprehensive Life Cycle Support concept. The target is to create an open, modular and mobile system to manage and distribute all operational data related to running a plant or ship. The essential added value for the client is that the data of the plant or ship is up-to-date, unambiguous, constant, protected and easy to access regardless of time and place. approach to apply new technology to achieve benefits for our clients in the investment process. 6 Elomatic business units and areas Marine Project & Shipowner Services Ship Engineering Outfitting Design Marine is working with the global shipbuilding and marine industry. Shipowners and shipyards as well as turn-key, equipment, and material suppliers are found our main clientele. The Finnish Marine Technology cluster, a long lasting tradition, and successful history is giving us a strong backbone for developing the business further. We perform design and engineering for a wide range of ship types covering all design disciplines. In recent years we have mainly participated in the creation of top-of-the-line cruise vessels and passenger-car ferries built by leading shipyards for highly ranked shipowners. We are, however, also familiar with the design of other special vessels such as dredgers, LNG-tankers, FPSOvessels, icebreaking supply vessels, cable ships, and container vessels. With our network of partners around the world, we are capable to serve the industry on a global basis. Paper & Mechanical Paper Machines Paper Mills Machine Design Paper & Mechanical is providing services for paper and mechanical industries. Services for the paper industry consist of design of process improvements and rebuild projects as well as maintenance design for the paper mills and engineering of complete or partial paper machines for Metso Paper who is also our strategic partner. With this support we enjoy added value and potential to grow internationally too. Our services for and references within the mechanical industry are e.g. participation to client s R&D process, design of products and tools to manufacture products, engineering of complex steel structures such as different types of cranes. Skills and experience in structural analysis is one of our major competence. Besides efficient use of 3D CAD we are forerunners in utilising latest technology tools like laser scanning for both plant and product scale. 7 Elomatic is organised into four business units: Life Science, Marine, Paper & Mechanical, and Cadmatic. Units are independent within jointly defined strategies, business plans and targets. Each business unit is, however, also responsible for taking care of the joint interests of the group and other business units. Hence an essential strength is the flexibility in using know-how and resources throughout the whole company. Business planning and control, ICT, and some other functions are taken care of on corporation level to ensure efficiency of work and consistency of processes. Life Science Bio & Pharma Food & Beverage Chemical & Other Processes Life Science provides superior engineering solutions and consulting services to customers working in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food processing, chemical and process industries. These solutions are built on profound knowledge from the application industries, wide and deep experience from managing demanding projects and, state-of-the-art tools and working methods giving our customers the best that engineering can provide. Life Science has experience that covers all project phases, ranging from investment analysis with feasibility studies to basic and detailed engineering ending up to maintenance and lifecycle modifications. We are used to work in projects of various scale, ranging from consulting assignments up to complete turn-key plants. Complementing process and plant design, our expertise also includes process automation, clean rooms and clean room HVAC, either as a part of a larger project, or as a dedicated project focusing on these areas only. In both areas we have experience also in meeting the strict requirements specific to the bio and pharmaceutical industries. Cadmatic Plant Design Software Ship Design Software Lyfe Cycle Solutions Cadmatic is a leading developer and supplier of 3D software serving the plant and shipbuilding industries. Close contact with clients enables Cadmatic to keep the software up to date with the current demands of design, engineering, manufacturing and production companies. Cadmatic's innovative and dedicated personnel are working on the development of our software solutions and we pride ourselves on providing excellent service to our customers. Our technical expertise and dedication to understanding customer needs make Cadmatic the ideal partner. Growing list of references include over 3500 satisfied users in 39 countries world wide. Cadmatic started as an in-house development project to increase competitiveness of Elomatic. Early 90 s Cadmatic products were successfully introduced to the market. However new releases are still put on trial first to Elomatic consulting and engineering organisation to ensure that only fully functioning software is delivered to customers. Cadmatic has a strategic alliance with Numeriek Centrum Groningen, Holland to serve the shipbuilding and marine industry. The joint venture product is called Nupas-Cadmatic. 9 Output Experienced people with excellent tools Our complete set of project management and design tools are up-to-date and compatible with most engineering solutions and IT environments. Innovative development in design methods has initiated new follow-up tools as well as new delivery formats. The output of our services is still to some extent in the traditional paper form but mostly in intelligent and inter-linked data format. This applies to specifications, calculations, diagrams, drawings, lists, etc. Our internet based ebrowser is a good example of how to bring efficiency in communication and data management between designer, client, and other participants of the project. Efficient project management and prompt follow-up With the help of our audited project management methods, we can guarantee the highest quality in all output.
