2 GENERAL INFORMATION Course Description Success With Failure: Heart Failure for Clinical Practice will feature up-to-date presentations on the evaluation and treatment of heart failure. New diagnostic tools, drugs, and devices will be reviewed along with their role in specific clinical situations. Integration of guidelines and clinical management will be highlighted. The program format includes interactive case-based discussions, surgical and medical perspectives to ensure a lively and relevant educational opportunity for all participants. A special session will be held August 10 for the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Knowledge module. The content will enhance the competence and clinical judgement in the areas in which heart failure providers should demonstrate a high level of competence. If you are certified in a specialty and enrolled in ABIM s MOC program, you are required to earn a combined 100 points in medical knowledge and practice improvement during your 10 year certificate period. Heart Failure Society of America s selfassessment module in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology is designed to help you with this process by providing 10 points in medical knowledge. Course Learning Objectives Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: Identify relevant features of national heart failure guidelines Analyze new treatments for heart failure including devices Characterize the timing and expected outcome for surgical interventions in heart failure patients including those with ischemic heart disease and valvular heart disease Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. Intended Audience Success With Heart Failure is appropriate for cardiologists, primary care providers, mid-level providers, and nurses providing care for patients with heart failure. Credit Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Mayo Clinic College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The Pacific Ocean caresses along, unspoiled stretches of beach under the gentle warmth of year-round sunshine. A choice of land and water activities abound including sailing, deep sea fishing, and golfing at nearby links along with direct access to two miles of sandy beach. This destination offers a wide variety of leisure activities after the program is done for the day.
