3 October Back to School Program 2016 FRRR will again be delivering the Back to School Program for the start of the 2016 school year. The Back to School (BTS) initiative is part of the Rural Education Australia Program. This program helps rural, regional and remote students to access quality educational experiences by providing $50 gift vouchers which are redeemable for items such as school uniforms, clothing, shoes, school bags and stationery items necessary to start the 2016 school year. Amount $50 Closing Date 16 October 2015 Contact Telephone on Habitat Action Grants NSW DPI Angling clubs, individuals, community groups, and organisations interested in rehabilitating fish habitats in freshwater and saltwater areas throughout NSW can apply for grants. Habitat rehabilitation projects which may be funded include: removal or modification of barriers to fish passage rehabilitation of riparian lands (river banks, wetlands, mangrove forests, saltmarsh) re-snagging waterways with timber structure removal of exotic vegetation from waterways bank stabilisation works reinstatement of natural flow regimes Amount Small Grants $2,000 Large Grants $40,000 Closing Date 16 October 2015 Contact Grants Administrator on or ring (02) , (02) or (02)
4 Newcastle Permanent Charitable Grants Foundation: provides grant funding for projects, initiatives and programs focussed on improving community health and wellbeing for those most in need, improved life outcomes for disadvantaged and at risk young people and improved social outcomes for those marginalised and or isolated in our community. Foundation focus areas are outlined below. Amount $10,000 - $50,000 Closing Date 16 October 2015 Contact National Science Week: the Australian Government supports National Science Week in a variety of ways, including through the National Science Week Grants Programme. 5 Aurizon Community Giving Fund: is focused on the broad areas of health and wellbeing, community safety, the environment and education. All applications for an Aurizon Community Giving Fund grant must fit within at least one of these funding categories to be eligible for consideration. Cash grants are only available for projects that affect the immediate areas in which Aurizon operates which includes Hunter NSW. Amount $20,000 Closing Date 23 October 2015 Contact St. George Foundation: focuses on helping smaller community organisations that work to provide a brighter future for socially, economically or physically disadvantaged children. The charities we fund attract little assistance from the government and are not able to generate significant fundraising income of their own. St George wants to support the awesome work they do for children in our community. Amount $50,000 Closing Date 23 October 2015 Contact 5
6 Stronger Communities Programme: The objective of the Stronger Communities Programme is to fund small capital projects which will deliver social benefits. The programme aims to improve local community participation, cohesion and contribute to vibrant and viable communities. Key Aspects: Local government and incorporated not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. Grants of between $5,000 and up to a maximum of $20,000 are available. Applicants are required to confirm matched funding in cash or in-kind on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis. Funding of $150,000 per electorate per year will be allocated for two years commencing Amount $20, 000 Closing Date 30 October 2015 Contact SCP@infrastructure.gov.au. Website - Whites Rural Community Grants: Our kids are the future of the bush. Whites Rural Community Grants are designed to make a difference to kids in regional, rural, and remote areas. We are committed to regional Australia and the communities that make it great. 7 Local Sporting Champions (Australian Sport Commission): Young people find it difficult to meet the ongoing and significant costs associated with participation at sporting competitions, particularly those from regional areas. The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state, national or international sporting championships or a School Sport Australia state or national championships. 8 November Aboriginal Land Clean Up and Prevention Program: Under Waste Less Recycle More the EPA has further developed the Aboriginal Land Clean Up and Prevention (ALCUP) funding program to manage illegal dumping on privately owned Aboriginal Land. Funding is available to Local Aboriginal Land Councils for individual projects of one year's duration. All funded activities must be completed by 31 March The priorities for the funding reflect the EPA's commitment to deliver an integrated approach to combat illegal dumping through active engagement and collaboration between government, land managers and local communities. Amount $5,000 - $50,000 Closing Date 2 November 2015 Website Accessible Arts Quick Response Grant: Targeting treatment, rehabilitation and care services to people severely injured in motor accidents in NSW. 9 2016 Aim for the Stars Scholarship Program the Layne Beachley Foundation Scholarships will be awarded, to applicants who best demonstrate their aspirations to succeed in their chosen pursuit and how financial and moral support would further their education or personal development and the community. Females, 12 years of age and above; and Females who have initiative and passion and are committed to achieving a dream in their field of choice. Broken down into state groups, fields of pursuit include Academic and Education, Arts, Music and Entertainment, Business Leadership, Science Technology and Innovation, Environment and Sustainability, Culture and Community, Sport. Priority programs are those involving historic houses, their collections and gardens. 10 Bjarne K Dahl Trust - Eucalypts: Priority will be given to projects that address the following: Conserving areas of high conservation status and interest Priority bioregions Priority ecological communities Priority species/ species groups Conservation research or activities aimed at reducing Loss of eucalypts extent and diversity Threats and risks Diseases Education and public awareness of eucalypts, and their cultivation and conservation through Increasing knowledge of eucalypt diversity Increasing knowledge of management and conservation techniques Developing standards for management and conservation practices Highlighting the iconic nature of eucalypts Highlighting cultural heritage (Indigenous culture) Literature and Art Amount $50,000 Closing Date 15 November 2015 Contact Ph: Website Export Market Development Grants: The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. Administered by Austrade, the scheme supports a wide range of industry sectors and products, including inbound tourism and the export of intellectual property and know-how outside Australia. The EMDG scheme: encourages small and medium sized Australian businesses to develop export markets reimburses up to 50% of eligible export promotion expenses above $5,000 provided that the total expenses are at least $15,000 provides up to eight (8) grants to each eligible applicant. 11 December Ian Potter Foundation Environmental Small Grants: To foster broad public awareness leading to significant volunteer support to meet the environmental challenges facing urban and rural Australia. To contribute to projects that look to leverage support from multiple stakeholders, with a view to: Increasing public awareness of environmental challenges facing urban and rural Australia; and/or Encouraging the development of policies that are committed jointly to the economic and ecological sustainability of our communities; or Enabling community or interest groups, particularly smaller Heritage Trust Groups, to prepare Conservation Management Plans that record built heritage which can be demonstrated to be of significance, and identify viable end uses for the asset. 12 NAB Impact Investment Readiness Fund Provides mission-driven organisations with targeted advice and support to help them secure investment for scaling up their social or environmental impact. Enterprises can purchase specialised capacity building support from various types of providers. 13 NSW Heritage Grants Special Projects: One-off emergency works projects for a State Heritage Register-listed item or item with an Interim Heritage Order that also meets at least two of the following criteria: Urgently needed to avert management risks Remote or rural location Unable to proceed without assistance due to current disadvantage. 14 2016 The Industry Skills Fund Youth Stream (Australian Government): includes two pilot programmes, Training for Employment Scholarships and Youth Employment Pathways, which will address youth unemployment by supporting businesses to employ more young people; and community organisations to help young people return to school, start vocational training or move into work. Community service organisations may be eligible for financial support to purchase or provide services to meet individuals needs such as intensive case management, job search, mentoring and other services relevant to young people. The two pilot programmes; Training for Employment Scholarships and Youth Employment Pathways, are available until 29 February 2016 in selected regional areas and areas of high youth unemployment. Amount Various Contact Website Eco Schools Grant Program: In 2015 the Eco Schools grants program has combined with the Food Gardens in Schools program to make it easier for schools to apply for funding Program will re-open for application in March 2016: increase funding available for school environmental education projects provide greater opportunity for students with special needs by funding a broader range of environmental projects offer up to 80 grants of $3,500 each over two years. A further 18 grants of $3,500 each will be available for projects catering for students with special needs. The Eco Schools Grant Program aims to provide learning opportunities for students, teachers and the school community, through hands-on curriculum-based environmental projects that focus on strong student participation.
