3 The North Penn High School renovation project scope is based upon maintaining existing the current educational program but upgrading building systems, specific architectural elements and limited finishes as described herein. I. BUILDING RENOVTIONS SCOPE - SYSTEMS Heating-Ventilation and ir Conditioning Eliminate Radiant Ceiling Panels throughout the school. Replace with a system that can function building wide but also allow for isolation of pods. Replace HVC piping systems throughout school. Existing ductwork is fiberglass lined. Eliminate all fiberglass lined ductwork. Provide thermal recovery units on roof or in mezzanines. Provide new DDC control system throughout school integrate newer systems in Natatorium and K Pod where feasible. Electrical Systems Develop on site generation for entire building to allow building to go off grid during peak demand periods. This system also provides emergency power generation for the entire building. Replace switch gear, main panels, sub panels and aluminum branch wiring. luminum wiring replacement Lighting replacements. Provide lighting controls system. Fire larm System Replacement integrate newer systems in Natatorium and K Pod where feasible. Switch site lighting to LED fixtures. Provide wireless clock system. Existing building wide P system requires upgrades. Head end was recently replaced. Evaluate keeping head end but replace balance of system. Exterior speakers will be upgraded. Upgrade phones to VOIP. CONFIRM extent of data network upgrades required. Wireless network already in place in school. Plumbing Systems Replace toilet room fixtures with code compliant and high efficiency units. Waterless urinals will be considered. On site grey water storage system will be considered for field irrigation system. Replace cast iron rain water conductors where failing scope to include selective replacement. Replace all gas piping & provide emergency shutoff valves to science classrooms. Replace grease trap outside of dish room. 5/27/14 Page 1
4 Fire Protection Provide building wide sprinkler system. (L & K Pods already sprinkled) II. BUILDING RENOVTIONS SCOPE RCHITECTURL Building Envelope Full building roof replacement except for Natatorium building. Balance of building under warranty that expired in December Replace windows with insulated units. Replace exterior curtain walls & storefronts with insulated systems. Existing new FRP doors to remain and be reused. dd insulation to exterior walls to increase U value. ccording to original drawings, typical existing wall construction is 8 CMU, air space with no insulation and 4 brick exterior. Insulation would be added to interior wall surface and additional layer of 4 CMU would be constructed to conceal new insulation. Replace exterior joint sealants and masonry restoration. [Not in current budget] Evaluate existing precast window elements due to units cracking at various locations. [Not in current budget] Building Systems Related Renovations Ceiling replacements. Eliminate batt insulation from entire second floor ceiling. Provide stair access to mezzanine / rooftops for maintenance access. CONSIDER rooftop mechanical penthouses for chiller / boilers. [Rooftop penthouses not in current budget] Construct fire walls in conjunction with installation of building wide sprinkler system. Interior rchitectural Renovations - General Replace corridor lockers. Renovate existing toilet rooms for accessibility and upgrade finishes. Replace interior doors and hardware. Upgrade accessible signage and directional signage. Replace classroom casework. Provide new whiteboards in all classrooms and eliminate all chalkboards. Existing VT floor tile to remain. School District to abate selectively where required by renovations. Pod Renovations Replace carpet and fixed seating and paint walls in LGI classroom. B Pod Renovations Renovate Kitchen and Serving Line areas. Develop food court concept for serving area. 5/27/14 Page 2
5 C Pod Renovations Replace carpet and fixed seating and paint walls in LGI classroom. Replace science casework. Must verify if existing lab designs will be maintained or updated programmatically. Replace casework in Potting Room C16 and replace greenhouse structure. D&E Pod Renovations Replace library furniture and casework. Circulation desk to remain possibly refinish w alternate to replace. Replace library carpeting. Replace railings in library to meet code. Paint library. F Pod Renovations Replace auditorium seating. Family Consumer Science Program will be evaluated for sewing / food programs for spaces of students per room. G Pod Renovations Replace gymnasium bleachers. Resurface existing folding partition skins. Locker Room Renovations. Provide code compliant guardrails and elevator access to mezzanine weight room. Consider gymnasium floor replacements as floors are reaching the end of their serviceable life. [Wood floor replacements not in current budget]. H Pod Renovations Renovate Boiler Room Evaluate shops for upgrading for current / future educational programs. J Pod Renovations Renovate rt classrooms. Provide new durable base and wall cabinets and new stain resistant countertops. Evaluate settlement cracks in walls slabs at J pod. K Pod Renovations Update fire alarm and sprinkler system connections to integrate into new systems to be added throughout the building. Evaluate K pod for wall and parapet leaks at 3 story wing and connecting links. [Not in current budget] Evaluate K pod for classroom carpet and Fritz tile replacement.
