3 SurfGuard Enhancements To ensure data quality of Surfguard records, we have an automatic script to merge all duplicate records detected in Surfguard. A new Complete Patrol Service report has been created in the Patrol Report section to cater for more Lifeguard services that are starting to use Surfguard. Specific reporting containing all information that local councils around Australia require their lifeguard service/clubs to compile on a regular basis however this report is a useful report for any SLS organization to report on the actual lifesaving service they ve provided to their community during a period of time. 3

4 SurfGuard Enhancements A new screen under the Gear & Equipment menu has been created for bulk processing gear and equipment. Where all your gear may be inspected on a specific day, this new function is primarily indented for use in updating the gear inspection date for multiple items. New Quick Report added. The Current Awards Gained during the Current season report displays all awards/proficiencies that have been obtained by members during the current season. This is available from the home page after logging in. It is now possible to attach Microsoft Office 2007 documents to s sent from Surfguard A new report has been created in the General Reports area called Awards History. When run, this report will show the complete history of a member's awards, for example each year that they renewed their bronze medallion or all awards they gained in 2008 etc Club administrators can better manage their membership s Lifesaving Online access with the addition of a new section which has been added to the member edit/view records page. A member s Lifesaving Online account details now appear if the member in person has created a Lifesaving Online account. If they have then their username, activation status, last log-in and account creation date will be displayed on-screen. 4

5 Beachsafe Enhancements Upgrade all of the maps from Whereis to Google Maps much faster and more detailed maps with new location icons and pointers showing the actual locations of the club / services on the beach 5

6 Beachsafe Enhancements Show the weather, tide, temperature and swell info without having to click the popup icons also the information being displayed is now of a much higher quality and accuracy New swell prediction feed and also weather & tide forecasts for the next few days instead of just the current day 6

7 Beachsafe Enhancements On beaches that are patrolled by SLSA services, there is now a statistics tab that will show you the total Rescues, First Aids and Preventions at that beach so far during the current season 7

8 ICT Project Update September 2011 The SLSA IT Team have been working relentlessly on the ICT Project for 3 years now, and there are a number of new systems that are going to start to become available between now and June Here is the first look at the new Membership Portal that brings all of our SLS IT Systems and websites into a one-login portal: 8

10 ICT Project Update September 2011 The portal will not only bring all of our online systems together in one place, but will also house new functions like the Forum where members can have discussions with each other on all things lifesaving, as well as a central library that holds all electronic documents and files in one place. Elements of current systems (Surfguard etc) will be rolled into the portal over time. Voice Portal A Voice portal is currently in the final stages of development which will initially connect to the SLSA Surfcom system. This will enable any patrolling member in Surfguard to call a number and sign on their club, report rescues throughout the day and sign off their club. Event Management The Sport and Event Management system is still in the scoping phase. This will deliver an event management system that can be used at all levels of the organisation from National sporting events to club swimming events. 10

11 ICT Project Update September 2011 Reporting The reporting tool has been developed and is currently in use by SLSA. This tool enables SLSA to report on all data in the organisation including Surfguard and Surfmate (QLD). The tool was used for the first time this year to collate all data for this years SLSA National report. ICT Project Timeframe The ICT project is forecast to end by June Although the project will end in the next 10 months there will be ongoing work following it s completion to create more reporting options and build onto the systems that will/have been developed. 12 The future of IT in SLSA As part of the overall SLSA strategy through to 2020 we are currently developing an IT strategy to plan for systems and development over the next 9 years. An example of systems that will fall into this development period: Financial systems (CRM, Finance and accounting, asset management), Patrol log restructure GIS (Geographic information system) for asset and Resource tracking and reporting Event Management (Full Solution adding to the existing ICT event management system) Collaboration The above systems and the IT strategy through to 2020 is still in draft form and discussions are still taking place regarding the systems that will be included. 12
