This growth has been augmented by educators and trainers through effective use of technologies and also by the paradigm shift from the traditional ways of learning to reinforced and innovative methods of education to facilitate realization of potential urge among the aspiring individuals. 5 Importance of Distance Education There has been tremendous expansion of the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) System in India, particularly in the recent past. This is due to the fact that on one hand, the limited availability in the infrastructure for face-to-face interaction is unable to match the educational demands of the ever increasing number of aspiring learners, and on the other hand the affordability and convenience offered by Open Universities and Distance Education Institutions have contributed to the strengthening of the ODL system in the country. No doubt, today every fourth learner in higher education in the country is enrolled in the ODL system. India, in its developmental phase, requires an ever expanding lumber of managerial personnel. The limitations of the conventional and face-fo-face system to meet this ever expanding requirement are too well known. Distance mode for its flexibility and cost effectiveness is the obvious choice. ASBM - CDE ASBM Centre for Distance Education (ASBM-CDE) is recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB), UGC, Government of India to impart management education through the distance mode. The programme is recognized by the DEB, UGC, Government of India. Its main objective is to provide equal opportunity to all to upgrade their knowledge, skill and personality related to management. The thrust of the ASBM-CDE would be to generate a literacy movement, by involving all sections of the society to create the required manpower for self employment, new employment, and promotion, success in trading, manufacturing and service business. The focus will be to provide required learner support * services for career oriented management education to the employed and unemployed persons for increasing their skill and knowledge. The ASBM-CDE has qualified Head, Coordinator & Faculty with Library, Computer Centre and Class Rooms for providing required facilities. This Centre has been established to achieve the following objectives: Democratization of higher management education at the door steps of varied learners Provision of high quality learning to all irrespective of age, religion, caste and place Development of need-based and employment oriented management programmes Promotion of distance learning with convenient time, place and options to enhance knowledge in specific areas of management

Moreover, specialized Post Graduate Diploma programmes have been designed in collaboration with Corporate tie-ups and taking sufficient feedback from the industry experts, AS8M-CDE is the only Business Management School in Odisha which has been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, UGC, Government of India to impart management programmes through distance and open learning system. DEB Recognition The Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of India has recognized the programmes of ASBM-CDE for providing higher management education to the interested learners. It is informed that any degree/diploma/certificate offered through distance mode recognized by the DEB shall be acceptable for employment in Government as well as Private Services. All the programmes will have quality of education and assurance for the standard of degree/diploma earned through distance mode of education. Programme Details ASBM, being an autonomous institute is offering Executive Programme in Management leading to Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). The learners can get the required facilities to be enrolled in the following two year programme. Admission Procedures Two - Year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Admission to the programme of ASBM-CDE has following schedules: 1. Summer Session Admission - JULY 2. Winter Session Admission - JANUARY Eligibility Criteria The common eligibility criteria for admission to various programmes of ASBM-CDE are as follows : 1. Minimum graduation in any discipline from a recognized University/ Institute 2. For two-year programme, a candidate has to appear at the entrance examination 3. There is no age restriction for the programme 4. Working executives or selfemployed persons or entrepreneurs with minimum 2 years of work experience Application Form and Information Bulletin can be obtained from Centre for Distance Education of ASBM in person or by post after depositing Demand Draff for Rs. 300/-(Rupees Three Hundred only) drawn on any scheduled commercial bank in favour of ASBM-CDE payable at Bhubaneswar. The forms can also be directly downloaded from the website and to be sent to the Head, Centre for Distance Education, Asian School of Business Management, 8, Sai Anandam Complex, Patia Square, Bhubaneswar along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 300/- (Rupees Three Hundred only) as mentioned above. 8 TWO - YEAR PROGRAMME Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) The growing importance of management education worldwide may be noted from the fact that more than fifty percent of corporate heads of the top 100 international companies and heads of states of some of the advanced countries are business management graduates. Business organizations need to constantly stay abreast of the latest strategies and techniques for survival and growth. PGDM programme is renowned for its extensive and in-depth coverage of core and specialized courses, creating innovation and entrepreneurial qualities. This programme is designed to impart a broad-based total management education to the students through rich and diverse courses. In this scenario, the programme aims to groom prospective managers with the right conceptual foundations, analytical skills and application abilities to help organizations attain and maintain the crucial competitive edge with managers who can lead from the front. 10 Examination Procedure The examination procedure for distance learning programme is stated below which may be changed according to necessity. 1. Winter Session Examination: December 2.Summer Session Examination: June For Winter Session (December) examination the candidates will be required to submit their application forms by 10 October without fine and by 30th October with fine of Rs.200/-(Rupees Two Hundred). For Summer Session (June) examination the candidates will be required to submit their application forms by 10th April without fine and by 30th April with fine of Rs. 200/-(RupeesTwo Hundred).

11 Completion Period There is mandatory requirement to complete a programme within a time limit of maximum 6years for 2 years programme, falling which renewal will be required for the entire programme and students will have to appear the examination in all subjects again. Evaluation And Results After evaluation of the answer sheets theresult will be published within shortperiod, according to which mark sheets and certificates will be issued to the candidates. Course Fee The following fee schedule is applicable for admission of students in the current session. However it may be revised at any time with or without prior information. 1. Admission fee Rs. 2,000/- one time 2. Course fee Rs. 11,000/- for each Semester 3. Examination fee Rs. 300/- for each Paper 4.Re-examination fee Rs. 300/-for each Paper 5. Supportfee Rs. 1,000/- for each Year All payments should be made by means of demand drafts drawn on any scheduled commercial bank payable at Bhubaneswar favouring ASBM-CDE.
