Why a Post Graduate Certificate Program in Financial Economics (PGCP-FE)? BFSI sector is a massive contributor to the GDP globally as well as in India. By 2020, it is estimated that there are potentially 6 million financial services jobs that are getting created. New profiles are emerging and earlier profiles are getting redefined, primarily due to technological innovations. I want to know about PGCP-FE The PGCP-FE is a highly sophisticated and specialized Program which is designed by faculty at K J Somaiya Institute of management Studies & Research (SIMSR), National Stock Exchange (NSE) and industry professionals after analysing job requirements to determine the knowledge, skills and abilities required to function effectively in participant s future job roles. The PGCP-FE is a 9-month weekend programme spread over in 4 modules. It is structured in such a way that the three modules deal with all essential subjects that provide a sound foundation. The fourth module gives them exposure to select one specialization subject that needs excessive application of basic economics, finance, including econometrics and quantitative methods. After the program, the participants would be equipped to work in major banking and financial services sectors of the economy that require the special skills for decision making. The programme will commence from 6 th June No specialised prior knowledge from candidates is expected except general understanding of basic economics, accounts, computer and internet skills. The classes will be held at SIMSR campus in Mumbai (address given below) on Saturdays and Sundays. 2 Q3. What is the programme coverage for PGCP-FE? The PGCP-FE is a 9 months weekend programme, divided into in 4 modules. Each module will have 4 papers as given below. The classes will be held on weekend basis on Saturday (from to 2pm to 6:15pm) and on Sunday (from 10am to 2pm) at SIMSR campus in Mumbai at the address given below. Q5. What is the teaching pedagogy? K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research Vidyavihar (East) Mumbai The teaching methodology is practical, hands-on and real-time, rather than merely theoretical. The classes will be taken by academicians and professionals from the fields of finance & economics. In addition to classroom teaching, learning will be through case studies, simulation games, assignments, role plays, etc. Candidates are also encouraged to have active class room participation, make presentations, seminars, workshops, etc. Each module is followed by a computerised/manual, objective/descriptive type examination for most of the papers which will carry a weightage of 70%. Another 30% weightage is for internal assignments based on continuous learning by the participants as reflected in their class participation, presentations, individual and group assignments, peer learning, research project, project report,etc. After successful completion of all components of evaluation including dissertation participants will be awarded a certificate jointly by National Stock Exchange & K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research. Q6. Who should enrol for PGCP-FE? The PGCP-FE is suitable for 3 types of candidates. The 1 st category is working professionals who are already dealing with BSFI sector in their current job profile. 5 Q11. What are the eligibility criteria? A Bachelor s degree recognised by Indian universities. Graduate candidates with 2 years of work experience (either as an employee or as self-employed professional or entrepreneur) or persons with professional qualification such as MBA, M.Com, CA, CFA, MCA, B. Tech etc. will be given preference. There is no upper age limit for the program. Q12. I am interested for PGCP-FE, how do I proceed? Candidates are required to satisfy themselves about the eligibility and suitability for the Program keeping in mind their career goals. You will need to fill the registration form and submit to us along with the registration fee on or before that last date for registration. The balance amount needs to be paid by any one of the 2 options mentioned below. The admissions are based on first cum first served basis, subject to availability of seats. The last date for application is 09 th May Q13. What is the investment needed for the weekend PGCP-FE)? The investment for the Programme is Rs.1, 50,000/- plus applicable Service Tax (Rupees One Lakh and fifty thousand only). The payment options are given below. Investment Particulars (Rs.) If 3 or more candidates join from the same organisation, they are eligible for 5 % discount. Q16. How can I make payment for the program?
