5 1 INTRODUCTION TO CROSS DATABASE COMPARISON (CDC) Yu use this applicatin t cmpare data surces with a cmplex structure r hierarchy. Yu can als d this acrss different systems. By ding s, yu check whether the data in the surce and target systems is cnsistent, fr example, whether updates in the surce system have been crrectly replicated t the target system. Examples f cmplex data surces are sales rders with several billing items r a custmer master recrd cntaining multiple addresses, partner rles, and bank details. Even thugh the data surces must cntain the same data lgically, they can have different values nce they have been frwarded t a different system, fr example, frm an ERP system t a CRM system. Yu can: Mdel the data yu want t cmpare Cmpare data at any time r schedule regular cmparisns Display the results in an verview cntaining all the relevant details This is a generic applicatin, which means that yu can use it t check the data cnsistency in bth ABAP and nn-abap systems. Yu can use this applicatin t cmpare the fllwing data surces: Tables frm the ABAP Dictinary Tables that are linked via ABAP Database Cnnectivity (ADBC) XML files n a Slutin Manager applicatin server XML files n yur lcal PC (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05) Yu use the applicatin as fllws: Once t check new links between data surces When necessary t check existing links Regularly t mnitr imprtant data 5

6 In shrt, during Crss Database Cmparisn Yu create cmparisn bjects in the slutin manager system. In a cmparisn bject, yu specify which data frm which data surces (SAP/Nn-SAP systems) yu want t cmpare and create filters. The data extractrs prvided in the managed systems, extract the required data and save it either centrally n a file server and later used by cmparisn run r directly used fr cmparisn run in the Slutin Manager system. Yu create cmparisn instances. A cmparisn instance cntains a cmparisn bject. In a cmparisn instance, yu specify which specific systems are t be cmpared using which filter settings. Yu create cmparisn grups. A cmparisn grup cntains several cmparisn instances which are gruped lgically and started and stpped tgether during the cmparisn run. Yu schedule cmparisn runs. By ding s, yu specify when and hw ften yu cmpare the relevant data surces. Yu display the cmparisn results. By ding s, yu can see where the incnsistencies are in the data surces. Yu can display the results f the cmparisn in business prcess mnitring and in the BPO dashbard as well. T d s, cnfigure the relevant settings in Custmizing fr business prcess mnitring and fr the BPO dashbard. 1.1 Implementatin cnsideratins Yu use this applicatin because yu suspect that there are incnsistencies between systems and want t check the data cnsistency f yur systems Prerequisite Yu have the rles and authrizatins required t use the applicatin. This will be discussed mre in depth in Prerequisites fr Crss Database Cmparisn. 6

9 2 PREREQUISITES FOR CROSS DATABASE COMPARISON Fllwing are the technical prerequisites which have t be fulfilled befre using the SAP Slutin Manager fr Crss Database Cmparisn; Crrect versins f the sftware cmpnents Activatin f needed services Authrizatin fr users Cnnectins t the data surce system Whitelists 2.1 Crrect versins f the sftware cmpnents In rder t set up CDC, yu require having a Slutin Manager system with sftware cmpnent ST release 400 with the minimum Supprt Package Stack SP28 (dwn prt frm 7.1 SP01). Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05 r higher is strngly recmmended. Additinal features are available frm Slutin Manager 7.1 SP10. The newest releases and latest versins are always available via the SAP Service Marketplace by using the URL Fr the latest infrmatin regarding sftware requirements (Supprt Packages and SAP Ntes) please refer t SAP Nte ST/A-PI needs t be cnsidered nly in such cases, where in yu wuld want t integrate CDC cmparisn results int BPMn. We strngly recmmend creating yur wn specific user rles based n template rles that are specifically available fr CDC viz. SAP_CDC_ADMIN (all authrizatins) & SAP_CDC_DISPLAY (display-nly). Other ptinal rles which culd be required depending upn extent t which Slutin Manager system is being used and the level f sftware cmpnents. With Slutin Manager 7.1 SP10 yu can use precnfigured rles in rder t establish a better segregatin f duties. The typical CDC tasks are split up t different user rles: Develpment: The bject mdeler rle SAP_CDC_OBJECT_MODELER can create/change/delete cmparisn bjects t perfrm the mdeling and generatin, but is nt allwed t create a cmparisn instance f it. Administratin: The instance creatr rle SAP_CDC_INSTANCE_CREATOR can display and use cmparisn bject in rder t create/change/delete cmparisn instances, but cannt change the cmparisn bject mdel. Scheduling: The instance executer rle SAP_CDC_INSTANCE_EXECUTER can execute and rerganize the cmparisn run, but can neither utput the result nr change the cmparisn bjects and instances. 10

11 Result Analysis: The instance analyzer rle SAP_CDC_INSTANCE_ANALYSER can utput the result (business data), but cannt execute the run himself, nr change the cmparisn bject and instances CDC authrizatin bjects n Managed System The user in Slutin Manager system shuld be able t create a functin grup and RFC-enabled functin mdules in case f RFC cnnectins. RFC Destinatin (Trusted): Specify the cnnectin that is used t create ABAP extractr functin mdules in the surce system. With a trusted cnnectin yu can execute RFCs in the target system withut specifying a passwrd explicitly. Fr RFC cnnectin t the generic ABAP extractr functin mdule, the fllwing RFC cnnectin type needs t be created; 11

12 RFC Destinatin: Specify the cnnectin that is used t read data frm the ABAP Dictinary f the surce system using the generic extractr functin mdule. Fr remtely accessing DB using ADBC cnnectin, yu need t specify the fllwing; Database Cnnectin: Specify the cnnectin entry that is used t read the data fr the cmparisn (as maintained per transactin DBACOCKPIT r DBCO) Database Schema: Specify the name f the database schema frm which the data is read. Fr accessing data that is stred in a XML file n an SAP Slutin Manager applicatin server, yu need t prvide with the fllwing: File Path: Specify the path n the SAP Slutin Manager applicatin server under which the XML file cntaining the data t be cmpared is saved. File Name: Specify the name f the XML file Fr accessing data that is stred in an XML file n the lcal PC, yu need t specify the fllwing; XML File Path: Specify the path n the lcal PC where the XML file cntaining the data t be cmpared is stred. 2.5 Whitelists Whitelist t access the applicatin server If yu want t cmpare data that is stred in an XML file n applicatin server, fr security reasns it is required that yu maintain a physical path where the data is stred n the applicatin server (new with Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05) Prcedure 1. Start transactin FILE t maintain lgical file path definitins. 2. Mark lgical file path CDC_FILE_PATH and chse Assignment f Physical Paths t Lgical Path in the dialg structure. 3. Enter ne r multiple physical paths where the XML files are stred Whitelist t access the lcal PC If yu want t cmpare data that is stred in an XML file n the lcal PC (new with Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05), fr security reasns it is required that yu maintain paths n the lcal PC frm where data can be upladed and servers t which data can be upladed in a whitelist Prcedure 1. In transactin SPRO, press SAP Reference IMG and chse SAP Slutin Manager Implementatin Guide SAP Custmizing Implementatin Guide Applicatin Server Web Dynpr ABAP Set-Up Active Cntrls White List r directly call transactin WDR_ACF_WLIST. 2. Press Change Whitelist (F5). 3. If whitelist WL_CDC des nt yet exist, add it (with descriptin CDC Whitelist ). 4. Mark whitelist WL_CDC and navigate t Uplad in the dialg structure. 5. Check/maintain the fllwing entries: The name f the directry n the lcal PC where the XML file is lcated. File lcatin type shuld be Directry. Example: C:\Users\Username\Transfer. 12

13 SAP Slutin Manager hst name (name + prt) where the CDC applicatin is running. If necessary, maintain all servers frm SM51 transactin. Keep in mind that the system can substitute the hst name via entries in the HTTPURLLOC database table. In the last case maintain the name frm HTTPURLLOC DB table instead f SM51 transactin. File lcatin type fr these entries shuld be Server. Example: abc.wdf.sap.crp: Press Install Certificate (Ctrl +F10) t install the crrespnding certificate n yur lcal PC. 13

14 3 SETTING UP CROSS DATABASE COMPARISON 3.1 Starting Crss Database Cmparisn Yu can start the Crss Database Cmparisn applicatin frm the Business Prcess Operatins wrk center: In the navigatin panel, chse Data Cnsistency Management In the Cnsistency Checks tray, press hyperlink Crss Database Cmparisn Alternatively, yu can add a direct link t the Crss Database Cmparisn applicatin t the favrites in yur SAP Easy Access menu: Chse Favrites Add ther bjects Select Web Dynpr Applicatin Enter Web Dynpr Applicat. WD_DSWP_CDC_MAIN and a crrespnding descriptin Frm Slutin Manager 7.1 SP10 enter Web Dynpr Applicat. WDA_DSWP_CDC_MAIN and additinally Applicatin Cnfiguratin WDA_DSWP_CDC_MAIN_001 14

15 Recmmendatin: With Slutin Manager 7.1 SP09/10 there are als transactin cdes fr CDC, which hide the technical WebDynpr applicatin name and are easier t use in rle menus Transactin DSWP_CDC starts CDC embedded in SAP GUI windw Transactin DSWP_CDC_UI starts CDC in an wn Brwser windw 3.2 Defining Cmparisn Objects Cmparisn Objects describe hw data is cmpared between data surces. A Cmparisn Object cntains the data fields in the data surces that yu cmpare as well as the cnnectin infrmatin during the designtime, fr example t access Data Dictinaries. In the case f ABAP systems, yu then generate the functin mdules that read data frm the ABAP Dictinary tables. As f Slutin Manager 7.1 SP10, yu can alternatively generate SQL statements that are sent t a generic extractr functin mdule t read the data frm ABAP systems. In the case f nn-abap systems, yu generate the native SQL statements that the applicatin uses t read the data. Yu create a cmparisn bject in a series f steps. Apply the sequence specified here. Yu can change settings frm previus steps at any time. Yu define a cmparisn bject by: Creating a Cmparisn Object Maintain cmparisn tables and fields Maintain freign keys Assign cmparisn table fields ( mapping ) Generating extractrs fr a cmparisn bject Creating Cmparisn Objects A cmparisn bject cntains infrmatin abut the systems that cntain the data surces that yu are cmparing. Yu specify the type f data surce that cntains the data that yu want t cmpare. This means the data can be in different types f data surces such as ABAP r nn-abap systems Prcedure 1. Chse Cmparisn Object Create. 2. Enter the name f the cmparisn bject 15

Therefre, specify the fllwing fr all data surces: Extractin Strategy: Define the extractin strategy fr data selectin Default: Individual data selectin in each surce system: As default the extractin happens n bth surce systems individually. Use keys f surce system 1 t select in surce system 2 / Use keys f surce system 2 t select in surce system 1: Yu need t filter n bjects, that can nly be identified in ne surce system based n filters and yu want t cmpare exactly these bjects with the ther surce system Execute cmparisn in ne system (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP12): Execute the cmparisn in ne surce system and nly pass the result t Slutin Manager instead f executing the cmparisn in Slutin Manager. There are tw surce types fr this extractin strategy Determine incnsistent entries in ne system (IDC Cmparisn in ne HANA data base 6. Specify the type f data surce in which the data is stred. The remaining details depend n the type f data surce. 17 Cmparisn in ne HANA database - - X Determine incnsistent entries in ne system (IDC) - - X SAP ABAP System (using RFC t generated extractr): Yu chse this fr an ABAP-based system. The data is read using a functin mdule, which needs t be individually generated fr each cmparisn bject. Enter the fllwing data: RFC Destinatin (Read): Specify the cnnectin that is used t read the data frm the ABAP Dictinary f the surce system. RFC Destinatin (Trusted): Specify the cnnectin that is used t create the functin mdule in the surce system. Chse (Test Cnnectin) t test the cnnectin. Functin Grup: Specify the name f the functin grup (new r existing functin grup). Functin Name: Specify the name f the functin mdule that is generated by the applicatin. Package (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05): Specify the name f the package in which a new functin grup shuld be created. Nt required fr already existing functin grups. Transprt Request (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05): Specify the transprt request that shuld be used fr the new functin grup and / r new functin mdule. Nt required fr new functin grups and functin mdules stred as lcal bject (package $TMP). SAP ABAP System (using RFC t generic extractr (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP10)): Yu chse this fr an ABAP system. The data is read using a generic extractr functin mdule. It is nt necessary t generate individual extractr functin mdules but yu generate SQL statements that are used by a generic extractr functin mdule t extract the data. Yu can find mre detail abut generic extractr functin mdule in SAP nte CDC: Generic extractr functin mdule Enter the fllwing data: RFC Cnnectin: Specify the cnnectin that is used t read the data frm the ABAP Dictinary f the surce system. Chse (Test Cnnectin) t test the cnnectin. Remte Database (using ADBC): Yu chse this fr a nn-abap system. The data is read via a secndary database cnnectin using a native SQL statement. Database Cnnectin Name: Specify the cnnectin that is used t read the data fr the cmparisn. Chse (Test Cnnectin) t test the cnnectin. Database Schema Name: Specify the name f the database schema frm which the data is read. SQL Statement (Cunt): The SQL statement used t cunt the number f expected bjects is displayed after generatin. SQL Statement (Extract): The SQL statement used t extract the surce data is displayed after generatin. 17

18 XML File n Applicatin Server: Yu chse this fr data that is stred in a XML file n an SAP Slutin Manager applicatin server. The surce type is able t prcess single and multiple XML files (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP12). Hst name: Specify the name f the applicatin server File Path: Specify the path n the SAP Slutin Manager applicatin server under which the XML file cntaining the data t be cmpared is saved. File Name: Specify the name f the XML file. In n file name but nly a path name is supplied, all files in the given path are prcessed. Mrever, the file name allws wild-cards *, +, $TODAY and $YESTERDAY. In case multiple files are selected, data frm all these files is prcessed tgether. Created frm, Created t (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP12): Enter a time frm when and a time until when files are cnsidered. The fllwing key wrds are pssible fr entering the times: $TIMES timestamp nw with ffset in secnds (example: $TIMES-10) $TIMEM timestamp nw with ffset in minutes (example: $TIMEM-30) $TIMEH timestamp nw with ffset in hurs (example: $TIMEH-12) $TIMED timestamp nw with ffset in days (example: $TIMED-1) XML transfrmatin (new in Slutin Manager 7.1. SP12): Enter a parameter in rder t execute an XLS transfrmatin which changes data frm a different frmat t the required asxml frmat. In this way it is nw pssible t prcess XML files which are riginally nt in the required asxml frmat. XML File n lcal PC (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05): Yu chse this fr data that is stred in an XML file n the lcal PC. Fr this surce type, yu d nt have t enter any further data during Cmparisn Object creatin. The path and name f the XML file is specified later n during Cmparisn Instance creatin. Cmparisn in ne HANA database (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP12): yu chse this t cmpare data between ne HANA database and a secnd database (HANA r a different database) directly in the HANA database. Yu can use this value fr the cmparisn accrding t yur system perfrmance. Typically a higher blck size is mre effective, as it reduces the technical verhead fr repetitive blck extractins. Hwever, chsing a t high blck size may lead t resurce issues such as memry verflw. In cmparisn instance yu can give an alternative blck size per surce system. Max N. Errrs: Specify the number f errr messages that are permitted until the system terminates the cmparisn. Enter 0 if yu want the cmparisn jb t be executed fully. Use this setting t prematurely terminate an incrrectly cnfigured cmparisn that returns an errr fr every data recrd. In Cmparisn Run in Schedule Optin is pssible t chse the ptin Cntinue cmparisn after Maximum Errrs reached, but withut details which means that the cmparisn will cntinues after the number f identified incnsistencies exceeds the maximum errr, but n further details will be written. (See chapter Scheduling Cmparisn Run) 8. Save yur entries. Yu have created a cmparisn bject. Assign data fields in the rt table r higher-level child table, as freign keys, t the primary keys in the child tables. When yu create multiple tables in a system, yu assign freign keys. This specifies relatinships between the tables in a system. Yu must have defined the relatinships between the varius tables in a system t be able t validate the cmparisn bject (Validate Cmparisn Object) and generate the functin mdules and SQL statements. 21

Maintain Cntext Fields (Display fields) In the Crss Database Cmparisn (CDC) applicatin, yu usually extract nly data, which is needed fr the cmparisn. In additin (with Slutin Manager 7.1 SP10) yu can nw extract further cntext fields just fr infrmatin purpse n the cmparisn result UI (see Display Cmparisn Results -> Result Details). There are tw types f the cntext fields: The field is nly available in ne f the surce systems (e.g. sme native key field r additinal attribute), and therefre cannt be included as a cmmn mapping field The field is available in bth surce systems but always has different cntent (e.g. created-by fields) by purpse, and therefre is nt suitable as a mapping/cmparisn field 23

24 Nw specify the assignment between the cmparisn tables Assign cmparisn table fields In this step, yu specify which data fields in the tables in the first system yu want t cmpare with which data fields in the tables in the secnd system and which data fields are used as cmparisn keys. Yu assign this mapping a name with which yu can later identify it. Yu als create fixed and variables filters that yu use t restrict the cmparisn. Fr fixed filters, yu specify the data field and the exact value f the filter as sn as yu create the cmparisn bject. Fr example, yu specify the restrictin Cuntry="DE" when yu create the cmparisn bject. Fr variable filters, yu specify when yu create the cmparisn bject that a certain data field is t be used as a variable filter, fr example the Cuntry data field. The variable filters are displayed in the cmparisn instance, where yu can specify values fr them, such as Cuntry="DE". This allws yu t create multiple cmparisn instances fr the same cmparisn bject and specify different filter values fr each fr example, Cuntry="DE" fr ne cmparisn instance and Cuntry="IN" fr anther cmparisn instance Prcedure 1. Extracting nn-unique (=duplicated) cmparisn keys frm a surce system will later n result in a terminatin f the cmparisn run. 3. Variable Filter: Enter X t indicate that the assignment is a variable filter. If yu d nt want t use the assignment as a filter, leave the field empty. With Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05, yu have the pssibility t enter a filter type fr the variable filter which allws that the filter values in the cmparisn instance can be entered in a field with the crrect data type. Use the drpdwn list bx t select the crrect filter type. Use the special filter type relative timestamp t enter relative timestamps in the cmparisn instance. Mrever, with Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05, yu have the pssibility t chse pre-defined cnversin IDs (such as delete leading zeres, cnvert t upper case) fr bth surce systems that allw yu t cnvert the data befre it is cmpared. Yu can als define and use yur wn cnversin IDs by creating an implementatin fr enhancement spt DSWP_CDC_CONVERSION and entering the cnversin ID in maintenance view CDC_V_CONV_TYPE. Nw create the functin mdule fr the cmparisn Generating Extractrs fr a Cmparisn Object When yu have created the cmparisn bject with the cmparisn tables, and have assigned the table relatinships in and between the systems, yu generate the extractrs fr the cmparisn. Fr ABAP systems, the system creates the functin mdules executed during a cmparisn when yu generate these extractrs r generates the SQL statements that are used by the generic extractr functin mdule. Fr nn- ABAP systems, the system creates SQL statements t read the data during a cmparisn when yu generate these extractrs. Yu can test the SQL statements in the applicatin befre yu generate them. When yu have changed settings in the cmparisn bject mdel, yu must generate the cmparisn bject again s that the extractrs take int accunt the changes in the mdel. Befre the applicatin generates the extractrs, it tests the cnnectin and validates the cmparisn bject. If errrs ccur, the applicatin terminates generatin. Befre generatin starts, yu shuld therefre check the cnnectin and the cmparisn bject. If yu have saved the cmparisn data in an XML file in SAP Slutin Manager r n a lcal PC, d nt generate anything because the system reads the data directly frm the XML file. Hwever, yu can test the specified path Prcedure 1. T test the cnnectin, chse (Test Cnnectin). 2. T test the cmparisn bject, chse (Validate Cmparisn Object). 3. 30 7. With Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05, the CDC applicatin supprts iteratin, which means that yu have the pssibility t re-cmpare incnsistent bjects. Iteratin is useful if data changes frequently. It helps yu t exclude temprary differences frm the cmparisn result. Iteratin can be started autmatically after the first cmparisn is finished r manually. T start iteratin autmatically, enter at least ne f the fllwing parameters: Maximum Number f Iteratins: The maximum number f iteratins that will be started autmatically. If ne f the exit cnditins is met befre the maximum number f iteratins is reached, iteratin will stp anyhw. Delay: Time delay between tw iteratins (in secnds) Exit Cnditin (%): Iteratin stps if this percentage f incnsistent bjects r a value belw is reached. Exit Cnditin (ttal): Iteratin stps if this number f incnsistent bjects r a value belw is reached. 8. If the traffic light icn is yellw, the surce type specific parameters in the cmparisn instance are nt the same as the functin mdules in the cmparisn bject. This can be useful if yu have changed settings in the cmparisn bject and regenerated the functin mdules, but are nt yet finished making yur changes. The cmparisn instance can then cntinue t apply the existing settings until the changes are finalized. 9. T cpy the current surce type specific parameters frm the cmparisn bject t the cmparisn instance, chse the traffic light icn when yu have finished making yur changes t the cmparisn bject, fr example. 10. In the Instance Specific Filters screen area, specify values fr the instance specific filters. Yu can create multiple cmparisn instances with different instance specific filters fr the same cmparisn bject. As f Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05, the data type f the fields depends n the filter type yu entered during cmparisn bject creatin. If yu chse filter type relative timestamp, yu can use 30

Yu plan when cmparisn instances are t be executed and display the actual results f a Cmparisn Run in the Cmparisn Run Overview. If yu execute the cmparisn instances a number f times, yu can switch between the results fr each executin in a detail screen and display them individually. It is als pssible t define whether the cmparisn is t be executed immediately r scheduled fr anther time. 33

34 3.5.1 Scheduling Cmparisn Runs T run a cmparisn, start the cmparisn instance. The cmparisn jb is scheduled. T d this, the system creates a jb in transactin SM37, which yu can either execute immediately r schedule manually in transactin SM37. Yu can als schedule a cmparisn jb t execute regularly and start the jb immediately. The run ID is incremented chrnlgically Prcedure t schedule a jb 1. In the Cmparisn Run Overview view, select a cmparisn instance and chse Start. The Scheduling f a Cmparisn Jb dialg bx appears. 2. Yu have the fllwing ptins: T create a jb that can be scheduled afterwards, chse Create jb nly. Call transactin SM37 and schedule the cmparisn jb. The name f the jb is CDC_<instance name>. The jb is nw scheduled. T display the scheduling, chse Update. T create a jb and execute it immediately, chse Create jb and start immediately. T start the cmparisn run immediately in dialgue, chse Start Cmparisn Run Immediately in dialgue (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05). If certain surce types are used, nt all ptins might be available. Fr surce type XML file n lcal PC which is available with Slutin Manager 7.1 SP05, nly ptin Start Cmparisn Run Immediately in dialgue is available. There are further ptins available in WebDynpr UI n the Scheduling Ppup (yu may need t press the Expand tray icn t see the Special Optin tray area): 3. Furthermre, yu can check Rescan identified incnsistencies t manually trigger iteratin. During iteratin, nly the incnsistencies identified during the last iteratin will be re-cmpared. 4. 35 5. Befre the actual cmparisn, a cunt is requested frm bth surce systems, t knw the number f expected bjects and t be able t calculate the prgress during the cmparisn run. The way hw the cunts are handled and t what extend the cmparisn is being perfrmed, can be cntrlled by different Cmparisn Scenaris (new in Slutin Manager 7.1 SP12): Cunt expected recrds nly (n cmparisn): This will nly trigger the pure cunting f the number f expected recrds in bth surce systems. This des nt include a check fr identical keys. S an identical cunt des nt necessarily mean that these are the same bjects. Only d detailed cmparisn if cunts are nt identical: This will first trigger the cunting f the number f expected recrds in bth surce systems. If it is identical, n cmparisn will be dne. If the cunts are different, a detailed extractin and cmparisn will be dne. A check fr identical keys is nt perfrmed. S an identical cunt des nt necessarily mean that these are the same bjects. Standard cmparisn with detailed results up t Maximum Errrs: This is the recmmended default ptin fr the standard cmparisn runtime behavir. It will first trigger the cunting f the number f expected recrds in bth surce systems. Afterwards a detailed extractin and cmparisn will be dne. If the number f identified incnsistencies exceeds the maximum errr cunt (as defined in the cmparisn bject), the cmparisn run will be stpped prematurely. Cntinue cmparisn after Maximum Errrs reached, but withut details: This is the same as the standard cmparisn. The nly difference is that the cmparisn will still cntinue, even after the number f identified incnsistencies exceeds the maximum errr cunt. Hwever, n further result details will be written. It just increases the cunts f the incnsistency key figures. Cautin: This ptin can dramatically increase the ttal runtime, especially if there is sme systematic errr, like an unsuitable definitin f the cmparisn bject r at cmparing cmpletely nn-matching surce systems Stpping Cmparisn Runs Yu can stp a cmparisn instance jb that it is currently being executed. Fr example, yu might want t stp the jb if the cmparisn is taking t lng and yu therefre want t adjust the settings, r if the cmparisn has already fund numerus incnsistencies and yu want t first analyze these errrs. If yu want t reschedule the jb fr a cmparisn instance, call transactin SM37 and reschedule the cmparisn there. The name f the jb is CDC_<instance name> Prcedure t stp a Cmparisn Run 1. In the Cmparisn Run Overview view, select a cmparisn instance and chse Stp. 2. The cmparisn instance jb stps as sn as pssible. Yu can nw make changes t the cmparisn bject, the cmparisn instance, r the executin. Then execute the cmparisn again Display Cmparisn Results Once yu have executed a cmparisn instance, yu can display the results. Yu can als display results frm previus cmparisns. The Result Details screen lists all bjects fr which differences between the cmpared data surces are identified. 35

The CDC surce type FIXL fr XML files n lcal PC requires XML files in asxml frmat. asxml is the frmat that yu get if yu use transfrmatin ID fr an internal ABAP table. The fllwing is an example fr ne item with clumns PARTNER, NAME_LAST and NAME_FIRST. (Fr a table with multiple items, yu wuld see multiple <item> tags.) The XML declaratin at the beginning f the file is ptinal, whereas the namespace definitin needs t refer t versin= The part f the XML file cntaining the data t be cmpared needs t be included in tag <asx:values> (and </asx:values> respectively). Beynd this level a tag <TABLE> marks the start f the data table, whereas several tags pening and clsing with <item> (and </item> respectively) mark the beginning and the end f a line item in the table t be cmpared. Regarding Slutin Manager there is typically either a tw- r three-system landscape. Fr CDC it wuld nt really matter whether it runs n the develpment (DEV), test (QA) r prductive (PRD) Slutin Manager, as lng as the required cnnectins (like RFC destinatins r database cnnectins) t the intended surce systems are available. Nrmally yu wuld use CDC n the develpment Slutin Manager nly fr initial testing, like evaluating the features, building a prf-f-cncept, testing custmenhancements, and s n, with cnnectins t the develpment r test surce systems. Fr real prductive usage, which means cmparing data frm the prductive surce systems, CDC runs n the prductive Slutin Manager bviusly. Please nte that it is nt pssible t transprt cmparisn bjects and cmparisn instances, because they are cnsidered as applicatin data and wuld als use different cnnectin parameter values depending n the envirnment. Hwever, it is pssible t use a dwnlad/uplad functin fr cmparisn bject data mdels r whle cmparisn bjects. But typically yu start building new cmparisn bjects directly in the prductive Slutin Manager and test them with cnnectins t develpment/test surce systems, befre running high-vlume cmparisns between the prductive surce systems. This way yu nly need ne cmparisn bject fr mdeling and yu can have multiple cmparisn instances pinting t the different envirnments. 7.2 System and Transprt Landscape at CDC design-time (fr surce type ABAP RFC t SAP ABAP System ) At design-time, which is the mdeling f cmparisn bjects, yu need tw types f RFC destinatins t the develpment surce system. A Read-RFC-Destinatin, which uses a backgrund cnnectin with a system lgn user, t access the data dictinary fr prviding value helps n tables and fields. 49
