Fundamental Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (FCECCE) Approved by ECDA Duration: 4 months Mode of study: Part-time; (every Mon, Wed & Thurs) The course is designed to help assistant teachers and caregivers to understand the growth and development of children, so that they can respond to the needs of children effectively and appreciate their roles and responsibilities in the upbringing of children. Entry requirement: Secondary 2 or 8 years of formal education Advancement: After completion of the course, students will be able to work as assistant teachers (para-educarers) in the pre-school centres to take care of children from 18 months to 4 years old. 2 2. WSQ Higher Certificate in Infant Care (WSQ HCIC) - The students will gain knowledge and skills to work with infants (children age 2-17 months.) Accredited ECDA Duration: 6 months Mode of study: Part-time; Entry requirements: Minimum 21 years of age At least Secondary 2 qualifications or completed 8 years of formal education and Attained an average SOA 4 in the WPL Series - Jan Intake 2016: 04 Jan 2016 Closing date for application: 04 Jan 2016 Mobile: Advancement: After completion of the course, students will be able to work as educarers in the pre-school centres to take care of infants from 2 months to 17 months old. WSQ Advanced Certificate in Early Years (WSQ ACEY) Accredited by ECDA Entry requirements: Existing Teachers (employed in a Child Care before 1 October 2011) Duration: 12 months Mode of study: Part-time; Minimum 21 years of age Completed CITCD or WSQ HCIC and Attained an average SOA 5 in WPL Series and any one of the following: A credit in GCE O Level English (EL1) Minimum Band 5.5 IELTS score Average SOA 5 for WPL (written) New Teachers (employed in a Child Care on/after 1 October 2011) Minimum 21 years of age Must have at least Secondary 4 qualifications or completed 10 years of formal education and Attained an average SOA 5 in the WPL series and any one of the following: A credit in GCE O Level English (EL1) Minimum Band 5.5 IELTS score Average SOA 5 for WPL (written) Advancement: Students will be able to work as professional teachers at the preschool level (children 2 months to 3 years old.) 6 students will also be assigned a personal tutor who will support them throughout their study. For the final dissertation, students will be supported by a supervisor with the relevant specialist knowledge. The programme permits students to study flexibly, full-time or part-time. Students can accumulate credits over a period to suit their personal and professional circumstances. Entry requirements - An honours degree at minimum 2:2 or equivalent in a relevant subject area. e.g. in Early Childhood Studies, Social Policy, Health Studies or related subject - Overall IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent for students whose first language is not English or GCE O level in English - Evidence of ability to pursue study at Masters level e.g. sample of graduate level coursework - Where an applicant does not meet the above requirements, consideration may be given to other recognised graduate equivalent status and/or professional experience Career opportunities Career opportunities are extensive and diverse. Family Day Care Course TBA Accredited by MSF (30 hours) Duration: 30hours 8 sessions + 1 outing; 6.30pm-9.30pm; 2 times This is a specialized course developed to equip professional home-based caregivers with the required skills and knowledge on how to plan and provide for the developmental needs of the young child in a home setting. Entry requirement: Able to read, write and understand English Suitable for: Anyone looking to offer home based care for children and wish to improve on their skills in providing this service. This includes housewives looking to offer home based care giving services so as to supplement their income, stay at home mothers who are currently taking care of children of their own, and child care trained professionals who prefer to work from home. 7

WSQ Competency Unit - Applying Basic Health, Hygiene, Safety and Nutrition (30 hours) The course will equip trainee with essential skills to look after the health, safety, nutritional and hygiene needs of children aged 0-8 years.
