13 CONCLUSIONS / COMMENTS Most technologies need (much) further development to be ready for market (average TRL is 3) (Apparently) few links with Industry 4-5 techs seem very promising for market deployment N/A = Not applicable; clinical studies, presentation of the Institute, etc. 13

21 WHAT NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED More connecions involving reasearchers, industries and public bodies Intense training of researchers in the methods and techniques fostering innova+on effort to develop new skills effort to work across disciplines effort to interact with non- researchers A stronger dialogue with the policy- makers and the Managing Authority (not just financial reports and online consulta+ons!) 21

22 CONCLUSIONS The aim of this Conference was to assess the capacity of biomedical researchers to develop innova+ons. Note: analysis focussed on "Readiness", not on "quality" of results, methods or approaches There is a large poten+al to progress from the phase of technological research to the phase of technological developments (i.e from TRL 3 to TRL 4-6). 22
