7 Doctoral Program The main objec5ve of the PhD program in Computer Science is to prepare highly- qualified researchers to conduct research, work and teach in fundamental and applied topics of the discipline, to design and develop complex IT systems, innova5ve applica5ons with informa5on and communica5on technology in different applica5on domains. To achieve this goal, the students will learn scien5fic contents and methods, design capabili5es and prac5cal skills.

8 Doctoral Program The learning path includes a series of specialized courses that deal with advanced topics to illustrate the fron5ers of the research and development in the different field of Computer Science, s5mulate the discussion around open problems and ac5vely involve the students in research projects.

9 Doctoral Program About 10 students per year are admibed to the PhD program, with scholarships from the University, private companies or research projects either naaonal or internaaonal. Great aben5on is reserved to external private or public ins5tu5ons, with par5cular interests for foreign ones since each student is requested to spend at least one semester abroad to complete the program.

10 Doctorate Program Each student is supported by a Tutor (I, II and III year) and a Supervisor (II and III year) Advanced courses on current research topics offered by the Doctoral Agenda. Advances courses organized by the School of Doctorate of Science to develop prac5cal research skills: project management, patent and intellectual property, communica5on organized by the School of Doctorate of Science Lec5o magistralis and advanced courses from the most relevant interna5onal scholars.

13 Doctorate Program Each student will be equipped with desk, personal laptop with free access to digital libraries (e.g., campus + IEEE, ACM, Springer, ), services, and campus WiFi Please, ask for accommoda5on and transporta5on facili5es, if needed

14 Candidates rights and obligaaons (Art ) The candidate must abend all the ac5vi5es for his/her didac5c curriculum, and work diligently for the amount of hours requested by the PhD Commibee for the programs of individual and guided study in order to carry out the assigned research ac5vi5es. At the beginning of each year a^er the first year, the candidate must renew his/ her enrolment. Not renewing the enrolment for more than one year causes the forfeiture of the candidate status, except for the case described in Ar5cle 15.

15 Candidates rights and obligaaons (Art ) At the end of each year of the Program, the candidate must present a wriben report of the research ac5vi5es done and the results obtained to the PhD Commibee, as well as any par5cipa5ons in seminars, congresses and other scien5fic ini5a5ves together with any publica5ons he/she has had. On the basis of this the PhD Commibee will deliberate the admission to the following year or the final exam, in the case of candidates enrolled in the last year of the Course.

16 Candidates rights and obligaaons (Art ) A nega5ve evalua5on by the PhD Commibee leads to the repe55on of the year with the suspension of the scholarship, where granted, and the payment of the enrolment and tui5on fees or else the exclusion from the Program, with the suspension of the scholarship, where granted. It is possible to repeat only one year during the en5re Course.

17 Candidates rights and obligaaons (Art ) The candidates can par5cipate in limited teaching support acavity up un5l a maximum of 40 hours per year, which cannot in any case jeopardize their training ac5vity for research and will not contribute to their obtaining a future posi5on at the University.

18 Candidates rights and obligaaons (Art ) The PhD School organizes general course to be followed by the PhD students (about May 2014): Managing Projects in a Research Environment Intellectual Property Protec9on Organiza9onal Design

19 Candidates rights and obligaaons (Art ) The candidates can par5cipate in training periods at the University or Italian and foreign research ins5tutes. For periods of up to six months the authoriza5on of the Coordinator of the PhD Course is necessary, for longer periods it is necessary to receive a delibera5on by the PhD Commibee before the training period.
