3 Summary The following is a contract between the applicant (you) and The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (us). The aim of this document is to provide you with all the information you need to know before applying for the Certificate in Financial Reporting for Academies. It also explains whether you are eligible to apply, how your application will be dealt with and the costs of the course. It is extremely important that you have read and fully understood this document before application. For information on privacy of data please see: or 1 Eligibility for the Certificate in Financial Reporting for Academies In order to be considered eligible for the programme you must concur with the following statements: have, or plan to have, a key role in the management of school/academy finances currently working in a local authority, the Department for Education, an academy, or a school that is intending to convert to an academy within 12 months or working in an organisation with an interest in supporting academies financial management have at least one of the following qualifications: a National College school business management qualification a bookkeeping or accounting qualification broadly equivalent to NVQ level 3 or level 4 a business or financial qualification broadly equivalent to NVQ level 4 or above, or, have knowledge and understanding of the key principles of ledger accounting broadly equivalent to NVQ level 3 or level 4 or have completed the CIPFA Financial Reporting for Academies - Introduction to Bookkeeping online programme

4 in the case of applicants being funded, you will have the support of your headteacher/principal (in the case of applicants working in a school/academy) or line manager 2 Applicant Responsibilities When submitting an application, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the correct information required. If you wish to apply again at a later date, you will need to complete a new application. 3 Responsibilities Once Registered as a Participant 3.1 Assessment o Sit the assessment within 6 months of registering for the course o Select the most appropriate assessment time for you o Sit up to 3 assessment attempts 3.2 Withdrawal from the Programme If a participant wishes to withdraw from the programme they will not be entitled to a refund. Participants have up to 6 months to sit their online assessment. 3.3 Withdrawal from a face-to-face Introductory Workshop If a participant withdraws from a face to face introductory workshops within 10 working days of the date of the workshop, an additional cancellation fee of 50+VAT will be charged 3.4 Past Participants of the Programme If you have previously completed the programme but were unsuccessful in obtaining the qualification and wish to apply again you will need to pay the course fee again. 3.5 Applications from Outside of England This qualification has been written and designed for the English Profession. We do not discourage applications from school employees outside of England but wish to advise that some contextual difficulties may arise for schools operating outside of the English system, where possible we recommend that an English support school is used.

5 3.6 What are the computer/technology requirements? For the online learning materials You will need access to a computer. All programmes are essentially online, supported by workshops and self directed research and study. You should be familiar with using a computer and the internet. You will also need high speed internet access at home or at work preferably both. Popup blockers should be either disabled or configured to allow the opening of pop ups from the CIPFA website. For the online assessment the minimum system requirements are: Microsoft Windows operating system - Windows XP, Server 2003, Server 2008, Vista or 7 (32 or 64 bit) Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or later - although this does not need to be the default browser. Provided you have Internet Explorer 6 or later installed, you can open a secure assessment with other browsers such as Mozilla Firefox or Netscape Navigator. At least 5MB of free disk space, though only around 1MB or less is needed permanently for the installation of Questionmark Secure Player from It should be noted that some addresses apply automatic filters to mass s. We will generally notify participants of course information via this route so please add CIPFA to your spam filters. It is therefore good practice to update your contact details to one that accepts mass s. 4 CIPFA s obligations o Consider applications and notify individuals of their acceptance onto the course o Arrange access to the learning materials o Provide face-to-face workshops o Confirm registration on assessment o Issue a certificate of achievement upon successful completion of the course 5 Cost 600 plus VAT. Non refundable This price includes access to programme materials, access to tutors, access to an online forum, a face-to-face introductory workshop, a preassessment revision workshop, up to 3 attempts to sit the assessment and a certificate upon completion.
