4 Module Introduction This module provides information about the IP Office Unified Messaging Service features. After completing this module you will be able to: Summarize the feature differences between UMS options for: Web Voic , the IMAP Client and Exchange 2007 Describe the UMS installation and licensing requirements Identify the configuration elements required for UMS in the Manager application Configure Web Voic for Users and Hunt Groups UMS offers the users a web interface allowing voic access via a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, with the ability to listen to targeted voic s by using either the PC s multimedia equipment or the desk phone.
5 Unified Messaging Service overview Unified Messaging Service (UMS) provides the integration of Voic Pro with systems and web access to user mailboxes. A very simple installation and configuration process enables users to manage their voic messages by using the device of their choice including clients or mobile devices. UMS can be integrated with IMAP-based solutions as well as with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environments. Note IMAP and Exchange Server 2007 integrations will be discussed in more detail in the next two modules.

8 UMS Web Voic Services Voic Pro Web browser Web service API provider Voic memory
9 Web Voic Installation Requirements UMS is licensed on a per-user basis as part of the IP Office Power User, Teleworker and Office Worker. The UMS Web Services legacy license is used to enable UMS voic services support for users set to the Basic User Profile and Hunt Groups. The software is included on the Voic Pro CD and is installed when the Web Voic feature is selected. UMS requires the IIS web server on the voic server PC to be installed and enabled prior to installing Voic Pro. Windows 2008 Server IIS does not support legacy IIS applications such as Campaigns by default. This is rectified by reinstalling IIS from the Windows installation disk, and selecting Legacy IIS support.
11 License Configuration for UMS Prior to configuring Users or Hunt Groups, the appropriate license(s) must be installed and the Status displayed as Valid
12 Select Web Service Mail Boxes By double clicking on the UMS Web Services license, multiple Users and Hunt Groups can be enabled for UMS simultaneously By double clicking on the license for Office Worker, Power User or Teleworker, multiple Users can be enabled for UMS along with setting the Users profile
13 Configure Users/Hunt Groups for UMS Users and Hunt Groups can be enabled individually for UMS by selecting the UMS Web Services option on the Voic tab The Voic Code and Confirm Voic Code fields must be configured for Users and Hunt Groups User Hunt Group

24 UMS IMAP Installation Requirements The IMAP server is installed as a standard part of the Voic Pro Service installation. IMAP uses the IP address of the Voic Pro server PC and runs on the standard IMAP port 143. Users and Hunt Groups licensed for UMS Web Services can utilize the IMAP service. The process for configuring Users and Hunt Groups in Manager for the IMAP service is the same as the configuration for the UMS Web Services.
25 Configuring an Account The exact method of configuring the account for IMAP depends on the client used. Outlook Example Select Tools and then Options Select Mail Setup and click Accounts Add a new account Select IMAP as the server type In Server Information for Incoming Mail server and Outgoing mail server enter the IP address or the domain name of the Voic Pro server PC. In Logon Information enter the user s extension number and the voic code as the User Name and Password.
26 Configuring an Account (Continued) The IMAP folder and the mailbox are synchronized when the IMAP folder is opened. The method of indication of the different message types will depend on the client being used and is not controlled by the Voic Pro.

32 Module Introduction This module provides information about the IP Office Unified Messaging Service Exchange 2007 features. After completing this module you will be able to: Summarize the UMS Exchange 2007 feature capabilities Describe the installation requirements Configure users and groups for voic synchronization using Exchange 2007 A UMS user or group can be configured to have their voic messages forwarded to the inbox of an Exchange account. They can then access their voic messages using Outlook 2007 or any other mechanisms supported by Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging. IP Office telephone mailbox access, including Visual Voice, is redirected to the voic messages stored in the inbox.
33 Integration with Microsoft Exchange 2007 Each user with UMS enabled can be configured to use either the IMAP capability or the Exchange integration. If the Exchange option is selected all voic s of the user will be forwarded and stored into the Exchange 2007 message store instead of the Voic Pro message store. Voic Pro is able to deliver new voic s to Exchange formatted as voic which enables Exchange to handle them differently from standard s. If used in combination with a mobility solution voic s can be managed using the visual voic user interface of the mobile device (e.g. Blackberry).
34 Message Handling Voic messages in an Exchange 2007 inbox are not visible to UMS IMAP and UMS Web Voic ; Exchange 2007 provides its own methods for IMAP and web browsing of Exchange mailboxes. The voic server delivers messages to the Exchange server upon completion of the recording. The timing for message waiting indication (MWI) and the access to messages from a telephone is dependant on the Exchange server processing and may result in a delay of one or two minutes. The same delay also applies to changes in the message status that affect message waiting indication.

36 UMS Exchange 2007 Requirements IP Office The user or hunt group must be licensed and enabled for UMS Web Services. The user or hunt group's Voic mode must be set to Forward.
37 Exchange 2007 Requirements (Continued) Voic Pro The Voic Pro server must be configured for MAPI based voic . The supported MAPI applications are Exchange 2007 and Outlook Exchange 2007 Server For a simple overview of the minimum steps required to configure Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging, please see the Exchange 2007 Installation section of the Voic Pro installation manual in the IP Office Knowledgebase. For full details please refer to the Microsoft documentation.
