The journey takes 4.5 hours Kristiansand Hirtshals Operated by HSC Fjord Cat with three daily departures during the summer months. The journey takes 2.25 hours Sandefjord Strömstad Two daily departures from 20 June The journey takes 2.5 hours and is operated by MS Oslofjord MS Oslofjord was converted and renovated at STX shipyard with a complete upgrade of its appearance and design On board the ship there is a large tax free shop with a wide selection of goods along with a varied selection of restaurants, bars and cafés

Why LNG??
Emision control areas
Environment Regulations Protection of our enviroment, new regulations Marpol I - V: Allready in use ( Oil, Sawage, garbage etc. ) MARPOL Annex VI: Air Pollusion, in process from New standard for shipping after 2015 New NoX rules in Norway from 2006

Section 3
Fjord Line s LNG decision process Fjord Line became member of the Nox fund in 2007 The first and only international ferry company (Norway-EU) Main reason is the route between Stavanger and Bergen Planning of new ships started in people from top managent defined the «dreamship» september 2009 Contract signed with Bergen Group Fosen Plans for «dual fuel «MAN machines, But we change very quickly til single fuel engines fra Rolls Royce
Alternatives evaluated Scrubber, diesel Scrubber High investment New technology Bunkers increase of approx. 3-4% Diesel Bunkers cost increase 30-40% or LNG Environment friendly Space for LNG tanks possible Cost effective Less maintainance Almost no sediments in machines Financial support from NOX fund & Ten-T LNG price development? Bunkering facilities? Bunkering with guests onboard? Scrubber There is great discussion arround Open and Closed Loop!!!!!!!
LNG in shipping First larger ship with LNG: Algeria i 1962 (51 år)
Norway leading within LNG Research / testing LNG machines since 1980 First small ferry started with LNG in 2000 Good availability of LNG in Norway 34 LNG ships in operation in Norway 2012
Bunkering alternatives
Bunkringsplan Risavika - Pipes in the ground from the LNG factory to the ship - Safest and most energy efficient LNG bunkering possible in the world today
LNG Bunkering in Hirtshals Our new tank
First and only large cruise ferries in the world powered solely on LNG MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord are the first of the large cruise ferries powered solely by LNG Benefits compared to heavy oil: Estimated cost reduction of 20% CO2 emissions reduced by 23% Emissions of sulfur and particles reduced with 100% Emissions of NOx reduced by 90% Reduced maintenance In addition, the improved hull design and propulsion system reduced bunker consumption by 6-8% Fjord Line is the only cruise operator expected to benefit from stricter environmental regulations for shipping in Northern Europe from 2015 New NOx/SOx emission requirements will mean that ships operated on heavy oil will have to install "scrubbers" or switch to marine diesel oil (MDO), which is more expensive MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord are equipped with LNG powered engines that have emission levels well below the requirements. Further, HSC Fjord Cat is operating on marine gas oil and will as such not be affected by the new requirement
Section 4 23
Main challenges LNG Operational LNG knowledge Fjord Line Bunkering facilities Legal infrastructure Norway and Denmark DSB / regulations Bunkering with passengers onboard Bunkering while unloading and loading guests / cargo Finalizing efficient bunkering solutions Pipe directly from factory to the ship Backup tanks in Hirtshals
Section 5 Confidential
Ports and authorities Danish ports do not reward green operation Most Norwegian ports makes this Ports need to organize the infrastructure of LNG Authorities must ensure good and efficient processing Payment in Danish ports due to ESI score, to ensure green operation. THE ENVIRONMENTAL SHIP INDEX
Section 6 Confidential
ROPAX and RORO rutes in The Baltics
Future Number of RORO and ROPAX rutes will decrease The use of LNG will increase It is impossible to guess on the fuel prices but Fjord Line believe that LNG do not increase at the same level as heavy Fuel and Marine Diesel The first LNG operator will have the opportunity to sell LNG to other shipowners FJORD LINE IS READY THIS YEAR!!!!!
