3 HISTORY During the last 10 years, Andreas Heinecke fostered the idea to transfer the insights gained with the exhibitions Dialogue in the Dark and Dialogue in Silence to a new program. Together with Orna Cohen he developed a program focusing on the topic of aging and the image of aging beheld by most generations in western society. While the topic of demographic change is very prominent in public discussions, many people still avoid to see the positive side of their own aging process. In addition to this, even today senior citizens are not fully integrated in societal and work life, so time eventually became ripe to turn the Dialogue with Time vision into reality. In 2011, the Israeli Children s Museum in Holon, one of the franchise partners of the program Dialogue in the Dark offered to realize this exhibition in cooperation with a circle of experts. In 2012, after the successful opening of the first Dialogue with Time the next steps became clear: the adaptation of this concept to the demographic circumstances in Germany. In 2013, with support of the BMW Stiftung, the way was paved for the search of partners for a non-profit production of the German version DIALOG MIT DER ZEIT. Cooperation partners were found with the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Generali Zukunftsfonds and the Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt and Berlin and the Dialog im Dunkeln Verein e.v.. Approved by BAGSO, the independent lobby of senior citizens, DIALOG MIT DER ZEIT successfully opened in Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt in September 2014 and will be opening in Museum für Kommunikation Berlin in March With the support of an Asian network, first steps are currently taken to adapt the exhibition to the Asian region and present the Dialogue with Time in Asia in the near future. 3
