Other responsibilities include instructional services systems development including coordinating technical staff and developing policies and procedures to facilitate and guide program development. Works with faculty, university administrators, IT groups, and a variety of student services sections (such as libraries, laboratories, and admissions) to develop adequate and effective policies and procedures as well as preparing grant proposals for additional academic initiatives across the University. Also teaches courses in nutrition communication dealing specifically with emerging technologies and social media in health communication. (June 2007 to present) SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST -Education Development Center, Newton, MA Responsibilities included investigating and implementing collaborative technologies and distance learning systems, theories, and practices in the delivery of training and professional development through projects primarily based in the Center for Health and Human Development Programs (HHD) at Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC). Was responsible for executive management and oversight of projects, setting a research agenda, supervising developers, and documenting the results. Played a key leadership role in providing conceptual guidance and developmental support around the use of various technologies in project work. Played a lead role in the area of collaborative learning technologies for national centers including the National Training Partnership for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Training Center for Middle School Drug Prevention and School Safety Coordinators

2 for the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention and the National Center for Suicide Prevention (for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). This work has helped advance the adoption and implementation of web-based learning initiatives in agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). (March 1992 to May 2007) PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR Sinclair Community College / National Science Foundation, Dayton, OH Provide conceptual guidance and project management oversight to a National Science Foundation-funded projects entitled A Distributed Hybrid Approach for Creating a Community of Practice Using NSF Funded Manufacturing Engineering Technology Curriculum Modules and Rigorous Research in Engineering Education. The projects are operationally managed by the National Center for Engineering Manufacturing at Sinclair Community College. (August present) CLINICAL TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR - Citizens League for Adult Special Services, Lawrence, MA Responsibilities included the operation and supervision of a program for developmentally disabled adults in classroom settings. Program included instructing clients on various computer systems and supervising staff in implementing the program. Functioned as part of a clinical resource team that consulted with program directors on client-related issues. Also developed a vocational computer training program. Other job responsibilities included staff supervision, custom software development, curriculum development, grant writing, ISP planning and client assessment and intake. (April 1988 to April 1992) ADAPTIVE COMPUTER SPECIALIST - Adaptive Resource Services West Warrick, RI Worked in a consultative position providing adaptive computer services to agencies and schools in Rhode Island. Services included custom programming, system integration and implementation and clinical evaluation. Also provided consultation with regards to custom computer hardware enhancements and adaptive computer access devices. System implementation process was on-going. (November 1990 to March 1991) FACULTY POSITIONS Tufts University Medford, MA Teaching responsibilities include courses in nutrition communication. Current research and applied development focus is the creation of on-line learning systems and virtual communities of practice that serve health practitioners. 3 University of Massachusetts at Lowell/ UMass Online - Lowell, MA Developed and taught both face-to-face and on-line undergraduate courses in computer science for the University s Continuing Studies and Online divisions. Other responsibilities included assisting the school with their web-based education implementation efforts, technology infrastructure development, and curriculum development. (Adjunct) (January 1998 May 2007) Nova Southeastern University - Fort Lauderdale, FL Developed and taught on-line graduate courses in education for the University s graduate education in technology program. Courses include curriculum design and development and education research methods and practices.
