5 The Record of Protected Structures Voume 3 RECORD OF PROTECTED STRUCTURES Note: This document is the Record of Protected Structures which existed on the 22nd of December It should be noted that additions and deletions to the Record of Protected Structures are made on an ongoing basis and amendments to the Record can be viewed on the Dublin City Council website. The Dublin City Development Plan , made by the City Council on the 24th of November 2010, came into effect on the 22nd of December The Plan evolved from the statutory review of the Dublin City Development Plan , required by the Planning and Development Acts The Plan consists of: Volume 1 Written Statement Volume 2 Ten separate maps indicating development objectives for the city area Volume 3 The Record of Protected Structures Volume 4 Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Volume 5 Natura Impact Report Cross referencing to protected structures is shown in italics. 6 Voume 3 The Record of Protected Structures National Conservation Grant Scheme Dublin City Council administers the Department of Environment s National Conservation Grants Scheme for the Dublin City Area. Under the scheme grants will be awarded for specifi ed works to structures which are on the Record of protected Structures. The fundamental objective of undertaking conservation works on a structure should be to restrain the process of decay without damaging the character of a structure or altering the fabric and features which make the structure of special architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientifi c, social or technical interest. To qualify, works should normally be carried out using traditional methods and materials, appropriate to the structure, its history and its condition. When replacement is necessary, it should be done on a like-for-like basis. Because of the importance of retaining historic fabric, a number of small repairs, eg. splicing-in of new elements in a historic window, will often be more appropriate than complete renewal. methods and standards of conservation required for works grant-aided under the scheme. Grants are allocated on a yearly basis and notifi cation of the latest date for receipt of applications (normally the end of January each year) is posted in the local press at the end of each year.
