3 Access Guide to Melbourne s Bars The vision of Melbourne A City for People of All Abilities, Disability Action Plan is to ensure Melbourne is an inclusive, accessible and equitable city where all people, irrespective of their abilities, can enjoy all the city has to offer. The City of Melbourne has developed this guide in response to requests from young people for more information about accessibility in city venues. City Bars an Access Guide includes detailed information about 30 bars and entertainment venues within the municipality. Venues listed have volunteered to be included in this guide. Inclusion in the guide does not mean a venue is fully accessible, but it does mean the venue has made a commitment to help all customers choose a venue that suits their needs. Melbourne is a vibrant and fun 24-hour city offering an array of clubs, pubs and entertainment venues to suit all tastes, interests and ages. The City of Melbourne hopes you will find this guide useful in planning your next night out in the city.

5 Before you use this guide important information Australian Standards for Access and Mobility This Guide is intended to provide key access information for patrons when choosing a venue that meets their individual requirements. Australian Standard 1428 prescribes the basic requirements for physical access. For a variety of reasons not all public premises comply with this Standard Listing a bar or entertainment venue in this Guide does not imply that it meets all requirements for access Please read venue descriptions carefully, or contact the venue to confirm any details that are unclear. Details to watch out for Toilets Where a toilet is listed as accessible, this means the toilet displays the international access symbol, and the cubicle may be larger than standard. However, the toilet location, design and fixtures may not be fully accessible. If this is of concern to you, please check with the venue. Car parking Public on-street parking or off site car parking is available at a venue unless otherwise stated. Information about designated accessible parking has been listed where possible.
6 Ramps and stairs Lifts or ramps are only included in a listing if they are available. If lifts and/or ramps are not mentioned, only stair access is available. Weather protection Unless specified, if installed, weather protection in outdoor areas is provided by an awning generally attached to the building and providing a roof over the area. Lighting The description of lighting in the premises has been provided by the proprietor and relates to tables in indoor areas only, unless outdoor lighting is specified. Scooter or wheelchair recharge point The availability of a power point for scooter or wheelchair recharging has been included. Please bring a transformer or other equipment if required. More information More venue information, including coming events, is available at: Disclaimer: An access audit has not been undertaken of the premises listed in the Guide and the City of Melbourne do not take responsibility for any omissions, errors or actions taken as a result of the information provided, or any decisions made by patrons based on this information. city bars an access guide 05
