1 Interoffice Correspondence Human Resources Administration DATE: December 6, 2010 TO: COPY: FROM: SUBJECT: Scout Executives Assistant Chief Scout Executives Regional Directors Area Directors Human Resources Administration New Professional Development Director Hierarchy In response to local council requests to keep the Finance and Endowment jobs current, competitive, and well understood by our donor community, a new Development Director hierarchy has been created. The new Development Director hierarchy will replace the current Finance and Endowment positions with a clear career path and grade structure beginning with an Associate Development Director grade 5, up to Director of Development grade 1. Those currently in Finance Director, Sr. Finance Director, Director of Finance Services grades 1 or 2, and Endowment Director grade 2 or 3, will be moved laterally into the Development hierarchy effective January 1, There are two key differences in the new Development Director hierarchy. First, this change allows for a beginning grade 5 for those who want to specialize in fundraising and development during their career in Scouting. Second, the Development Director hierarchy accommodates both commissioned professionals and non commissioned professionals with an alternate career path. Non commissioned professionals are required to be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America and adhere to the values and standards of Scouting. Process and Actions to Migrate Finance and Endowment to Development Commissioned Finance or Endowment Professionals No action Commissioned employees currently in the Finance or Endowment job codes will be moved laterally (no grade change) effective January 1, 2011 via a mass upload through the National council systems. Lateral moves do not affect salary. Affected employees, along with their Scout Executive, will receive an communication on or before December 15, 2010 regarding this change. A sample of this communication is attached. The chart below shows the job migration from Finance and Endowment to Development:
