Easy enough right? You may even know of a few free tools to do it yourself. Not so fast. The goal with SEO is not to get the highest ranking, but rather the most number of visitors that are in your demographic. While the data you get from research tools may be empirical, it may still need to be interpreted. What About Your Demographic? For example: If you are a company that sells and repairs glass windows and skylights in yourtown, you might want to be the #1 listing for glass repair yourtown because it is searched a lot, every day. Comprehensive research would reveal that the people searching glass repair yourtown are looking to get their CAR WINDSHIELD repaired, a service you don't provide.

If there are 50,000 website years ahead of you fighting to be number one for divorce lawyer hollywood ca you are not going to get a very high ranking for a very long time unless you are going to put an entire team on it. Even then there are no guarantees. Comprehensive keyword research will tell you that while divorce lawyer hollywood ca gets 70% of the searches and family law attorney hollywood ca only gets 30%, the latter has almost no competition. Would you rather get 0% of the top phrase or 75% of the lesser one? A good SEO practitioner knows how to embed your key phrases into: Your Page Titles Your Page Names (or URLs) Your Page's Header Text (with proper formatting) Your website's content Continual original content published OFF your site that points back to your site All of these things can be seen by the human eye and that is why they are the key factors in establishing relevance to a searcher's query.
6 6 What Every SEO Company Must Kknow United WebWorks Technical Bits While a lot of what goes into getting good rankings for your website is common sense, there are a few areas a little technical expertise comes in handy. A good SEO company knows how to: Verify (not submit) your site with each major search engine Create, upload and verify site maps for each major search engine Create alt tags for your website images Create a meta description (help craft one that sells because your visitor will see this in search results) Enter meta keywords (most people don't put much stock in these but if the page is being edited already, take another moment to be safe) Install analytics to show you the performance each month A few other details (redirects, robots.txt, and more)
7 7 What Every SEO Company Must Kknow United WebWorks Beyond Organic Listings You can spend a lot of time and/or money trying to achieve a top organic ranking and get it, only to find that organic rankings are being usurped by a search engine's local listings (or map listings). A good SEO company knows this and will make sure you have a presence there for all locations. They should also know how to move you up in the map rankings.

Installing a good analytics program on your website can give you a lot of information. In fact, it can be a little overwhelming. Good thing for you there are just a few things that really need your attention. Website Visits Number of visitors in a date range Page Views Number of pages viewed in that date range Pages/Visit The average number of pages each visitor viewed * Bounce Rate The percentage of visitors that left immediately * Visit Duration Average amount of time each visitor spent on the site * There is a slight caveat here. If you have a site that is designed to illicit an immediate phone call (emergency service) a low number of page views or even a bounce may be the result of you getting exactly what you want.
