Goals of European Data Forum 2015 The European Data Forum (EDF) is a two day event that takes place once every year and works as meeting point for industry, research, policy makers, and community. Throughout both days of the event these stakeholders discuss the challenges and opportunities of the data economy at a Global and European level. Over recent years, data has developed as an important product and asset of organisations of all types. This offers completely new opportunities, but at the same time it confronts society with fresh challenges. The EDF event balances technical, businessoriented and socio-economic, perspectives and approaches in order to develop an interdisciplinary stakeholder community. Special focus is devoted to innovation and business opportunities opened by data technologies and their exploitation in the context of a Digital Single Market in Europe. The EDF 2015 was held on November 2015 in the European Convention Center Luxembourg. There were a total of 720 participants, out of 950 registrations. The event brought together different stakeholders (from industry and research institutions) involved in the data value chain in order to strengthen the European data economy and its positioning worldwide. In addition to an outstanding program with two parallel tracks, the event offered a comprehensive Poster Session with 51 participants and an Exhibition Space with 39 exhibitor booths, where over both days a number of demonstrations were displayed providing the exhibitors the possibility to interact with leading vendors, research groups and SMEs from around Europe. LIDER Project in European Data Forum Platinum Sponsorship FP The LIDER Consortium was present for second time at the European Data Forum, participating as a Platinum Sponsor to contribute as a special participant to the conference. Through this Sponsorship, LIDER benefited from the following: Recognition on the EDF 2015 website with LIDER project logo and links to the LIDER website Recognition in conference press release Half page advert included on the event program Material inserted in the conference bags 6m 2 of Exhibit space Visibility in Conference Hall through a Rollup Logo recognition on plasma screens around the conference Logo recognition in post conference video The following list details the visual material prepared by LIDER consortium to avail of these promotional opportunities. All this materials are available for download in the Lider website, where they can be found in the Documentation section ( One page advert Material to be inserted in conference bag: two A4 pages One Rollup banner From LIDER Consortium, seven members attended the event, all from the following institutions: UPM, UNIROMA, DFKI/W3C and TCD. All participants volunteered to be present in the booth during both days of the event to promote LIDER project, and explain the main outcomes and guidelines. 2.2 LIDER Exhibition Booth The promotional plan prepared by LIDER Consortium for EDF 2015, was primarily focused on the 6m 2 Exhibition space that was provided for Platinum Sponsors. In addition to the items included in the exhibition space, like a wall to hang up posters and a table, LIDER Consortium rented 2 screens (monitor Philips 42 and monitor Samsung 32 ). One screen was used to display constantly looping demonstration screen casts of the main outcomes of LIDER project. The second one, was used to display the video Linguistic Linked Data and the LIDER project explained ( produced by the consortium to be shown during EDF 2015 and for general promotion via the Web. The screen were displayed prominently on dedicated D4.11 Report of European Data Forum 2015 Page 8 of 11

9 stands and a pamphlet display stand was also rented to display the LIDER reference cards effectively. LIDER Video (see In addition, the list of demonstrations presented at the booth were: Demonstrator Title Summary Jorge Gracia Apertium RDF Shows, through illustrating examples, a portal to access the linked data version of the Apertium family of bilingual dictionaries, both via SPARQL queries and via a search interface. Jorge Gracia LingHub Shows LingHub, a linked data-based aggregator of language resources metadata. Roberto Navigli BabelNet Shows BabelNet, the largest multilingual encyclopedic dictionary, both via search interfaces and via SPARQL queries to the latest version 3.5. Roberto Navigli Babelfy Shows Babelfy, a state-of-the-art multilingual word sense disambiguation and entity linking system, which also produces its output in RDF-NIF format. Víctor Licensing Language Demonstrates the use of RDF licenses and the Rodríguez Resources conditional access to linked data. Víctor Terminologies in Shows how to publish term banks as Linked Data Rodríguez RDF and the RDF version of the IATE term base. 2.3 LIDER Video After an agreement made by the LIDER consortium it was decided a professional video production would be undertaken to show the main outcomes and use cases of the project. During the last project plenary meeting, the production of this video, and the main points that the video should show were discussed and agreed. It was decided that the main message in the video should be independent of LIDER structure, and the video should emphasize real-world scenarios of multilingualism in daily use. 10 audience, the video would be accessible to general public but also relevant to technologists in related fields of multilingual technologies. The main items covered in the video were as follows: 1 Explain what linked data is and what problems it can solve, giving some real examples like the general problem that data is often not linked and therefore left in separate silos. 2 Describe the specific problem of trying to integrate language resources (LR) from different language providers. 3 List the main LIDER Outcomes: Generation of Linguistic Linked Data (LLD), and the importance of adding LLD in repositories such us LingHub. The main key of using LLD as an efficient management tool of multilingual and linguistic content. Explain LingHub as an open repository of metadata in the domain of language resources and linguistic data Guidelines and Best Practices as developments and results of the LIDER project after its two-year program 4 Next steps to be taken after LIDER project. How the community should continue to promote and grow the efforts done by the project. The digital media editor and video producer Volker Agueras Gäng realized the video direction and edition together with the artist Sophia Halamoda ( who took care of the graphic design and illustrations. The video production was worked and agreed by all the LIDER consortium members and coordinated by DFKI/W3C ERCIM. To-camera statements by key consortium members was recorded against a green-screen it the final project plenary meeting and integrated into the video. 3. Outcomes of participating in EDF 2015 EDF 2015 provided an effective venue to present the final results of the project to the Data Management research community. LIDER was the primary proponent visible at the event for multilingualism in data and the treatment of multilingual resources as open data. The widespread importance of this across big data and open data applications was widely acknowledged by forum attendees with whom the consortium engaged, and there was strong interest in the demonstration videos and reference cards. The ongoing application trajectory of linguistic linked data techniques was also emphasised by the LIDER booth being adjacent to the FREME project booth, where some specific LIDER recommendations were being already being demonstrated through implementation in a series of eservices for enriching text. 11 Raised awareness of Linguistic Linked Data, and main goals achieved by LIDER project. Disseminated the main outcomes of the project, principally the Guidelines and Best practices for linguistic linked data, though the video and also through other visual material printed like leaflet or reference cards. Promoted the existing communities active in this area. Enabled links to other projects and possible future collaborations with LIDER partners to be identified. The LIDER partners present at the event were also active in discussing ideas and forming new collaborative links to address calls in the H work programme, with several active consortia forming as a result. Collaboration was also advanced with the European Language Resource Community, a project focussed on gathering public sector parallel resources for the Connecting Europe Facility for Automated Translation.
