2 Crime Line's Mission Statement To increase the safety of the Norfolk community by assisting law enforcement agencies in removing criminals from the community. Crime Line's Purpose To motivate citizens to provide information on felony crimes by offering financial rewards and guaranteeing anonymity.

As President, and on behalf of the Norfolk Crime Line, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 21 st Annual Golf Outing. We have been working for over 33 years to help police get criminals off the street with citizen involvement through an anonymous tip system. This golf tournament is our primary source of funds to pay out rewards for those anonymous tips that result in the arrest and conviction of criminals. And, taking criminals off our streets is something we can all agree with. Your participation in the Norfolk Crime Annual Golf Tournament at the Sewells Point Golf Club as a player or sponsor will help keep the toll-free number LOCK-U-UP working to make Norfolk an even safer place to live, I hope that you feel like we do, that this is a worthwhile cause worthy of generous support. This October, we will have our 2 nd Annual Oyster Roast at the Knights of Columbus facility in Ocean View. Let any of our board members know of your interest in this event and we will get a flyer to you soon. Norfolk Crime Line (NCL) was started in 1981 at the request of then Norfolk Police Chief Charles Grant and a handful of concerned citizens, with support from the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. Since then, NCL has gone on to distinguish itself as a nationally recognized, award-winning deterrent to crime. NCL offers cash rewards up to $1,000 to citizens who call a toll-free number, LOCK-U-UP, to furnish information leading to the arrest of criminals in our communities. Complete anonymity is assured. Callers are never required to testify or appear in court. NCL is a 501[c][3] private nonprofit organization that receives no government funds. It relies entirely on contributions from the local business community, civic and neighborhood groups, and private citizens. All NCL activities, including the cash rewards for callers, are paid for by these donations. No tax dollars are used. NCL s board of directors is comprised of a wide spectrum of private citizens who care about their community, offering time and work without drawing any remuneration.
