4 Course Objective: The aim of this course is to introduce the sudents composite materials that are utilized in a wide variety of applications. This course is composed of three separeted sections as of metal, ceramic and polymer matrix composites. In each section it is aimed to discuss properties of composite materials, their components, production processes and application areas. Learning Outcomes: 6 Have the knowledge about properties and production processes of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) systems. Learn the production technologies of CMC reinforcing materials. Understand the structural components and their effects on properties of metal matrix composite (MMC) materials. Able to evaluate the microstructural components and manufacturing processes for a MMC material intended for a given application. Understand the structural components and their effects on properties of polymer matrix composites (PMC). Have the knowledge about production processes and application areas of PMC.
