4 Course Objective: The course aims to inform the students, who will study in the department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, about the field of materials, on some aspects engineering ethics. It is explained why and how men used different materials from the beginning of human life to date, and demonstrated what will face them during their studies and in their career, by presentations and industrial works visits. Learning Outcomes: 6 To express the use and development of different materials by men in history, To express the topics in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, To express the reasons why material and testing standards are used, To explain the basic properties of engineering materials, To explain briefly the most common production and shaping processes of engineering materials, To describe the basic concepts of engineering ethics. 5 Assessment Criteria: Midterm exam results and homework grades will make up term time grade, which will be added to the contribution of the final exam result to determine the course grade. Course Policies and Rules: Students must attend the lecture periods and technical visit. The use of MP player, cell phone and ear phones are not allowed during class and during exams.
