"It's not a diet. It's a lifestyle." And it starts with smart grocery shopping, not counting carbs, calories or fat. I sincerely want to help people change the way they look at fitness: a lifestyle, not a fad. 2. Keep it fresh. I throw in fresh, new workouts to challenge your body as it adapts. I surely don't like to spend one hour on a single piece of equipment; so I keep things interesting for you, too! I have to admit my secret: I love milk chocolate! I could live off of it. I even named my cat M&M. Mick, my husband of 15-years, and I love the music of the 50's (even though we weren't born yet). I've seen the movie "Serendipity" at least half a dozen times. One of my favorites!

Believe it or not, I have a secret love for Denny's and Golden Coral (everything in moderation, right?) On the weekends, you might find me bowling or playing billiards. Although I'm a sports fan (Go, Duke!), my perfect day off wouldn't be spent in front of the TV. I'd take Mackenzie, my 9-year old daughter, out for a day on the town!

I determine a client s current fitness level, goals and needs to create a fun, interesting program that safely progress the client toward their goals. Knowing makes a difference! I educate my clients while I m training them. I let them know why they are doing a particular exercise and how it will benefit them. A big fan of the movie The Natural, bowling, golf, & camping. I ve overcome a lot of physical challenges, like losing 60 pounds and healing from spinal damage caused in a car accident. I love helping clients with special needs, such as a gentleman who had dementia or a woman who, with my help, lost enough weight to avoid lap band surgery. Wife, Cindy; daughter, Jordan (in college); son, Jakob (Fuquay HS) Grew up near Hershey, PA (yes, as in Hershey s chocolate!)

I really like interval training. I tend to get bored; so I keep exercise moving and work hard the entire time. No need to be in the gym for 2 hours, right? Get it in, get out and enjoy life! My family is, by far, the most important thing to me. I'm a fan of the movie The Mummy, golf, a good book and cookie dough ice cream. Funny fact about me: I've stayed fit enough all these years to compete in sports, but I still haven't mastered swimming yet! "...the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances."
6 KADIE KERSEY Ran 5 mile race in 38 minutes and later competed in a half-marathon. I was a co-ed cheerleader in college Superset weight training for all levels of fitness Interval Training (maximum calorie burn) Training clients since 2012 BS Leisure/Sport Management Elon University MA Elementary Education NC State University AFFA Personal Trainer Certified, /First Aid HAVE FUN! Variety is key! It is important to change-up your workouts and to include both cardio and weight training exercises. I always challenge myself to alter my workouts to keep things fun and interesting. I also live by two mottos: If we wait until we re ready, we ll be waiting for the rest of our lives, and You re only one workout away from a good mood. In additional to a personal trainer, I'm also a second grade teacher. Travelling This heart of mine was made to travel this world. I have a twin sister and Beagle mix dog, Bailey. I'm a huge fan of watching UNC football and basketball!
7 RYAN NELSON I recently climbed the Maroon Bells peak near Aspen, Colorado, a peak of over 14,000 feet that has earned the name The Deadly Bells. Cross-training Circuit-style workouts Training clients since 2011 Earning B.A. in International Studies Major from North Carolina State University AFAA Personal Training Certified Balance is important with anything in life, and it s no different with your workouts. Change up your workouts and listen to what your body is telling physically. Plan to change you style of training depending on the seasons. For example, incorporate outside activities during the spring and fall to maintain interest. Served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army, and I'm currently VP of the Student Veterans Group at NC State. Life isn't complete with a pair of good boots. I love mountain biking, and I'm a fan of a sweet, crunchy apple.
8 KATE RUDISILL I ve completed 5 half marathons, and 2 sprint triathlons. Next goal? An Olympic distance triathlon! High-Intensity circuit training Tabata Functional Fitness Endurance training (experienced runner and swimmer) Working in fitness since 2012 B.S. Exercise Science, UNCW M.S. Candidate, Nutrition, Meredith College ACSM Certified Personal Trainer I also focus on very small short-term goals in order to keep you motivated toward a larger goal. My workouts pack as much punch as possible with rapid circuits and only short rests, and I occasionally throw in boot-camp style sessions. This blend of strength and cardio produces faster results. And when it comes to nutrition (my master s degree), use the 80/20 rule: 80% healthy eating and everything in moderation! Best exercise? Playing outdoors with Rudy, my Australian Shepherd/Border Collie. I could eat a burrito for every meal (but I don't, of course). I love the show "Friends" and play on several Raleigh soccer leagues. I worked as an ocean rescue lifeguard for 2 years on Carolina Beach.

Focus on fun, keep things simple, and help people find what works for them. How people become and stay active is a very individual process. More than just motivate clients, I give them the knowledge and confidence they need to take over on their own. 2. One day at a time. The reality, for all of us, is that today is the only day we have. So today is the only day we can choose to do or not do anything. Health and wellness happens today! I am 95% vegetarian, but love a hamburger if it s local, grass fed (I buy local whenever possible!) I have a terrible weakness for cookies of ANY kind. It's a full family around my house! I'm married with 3 children (ages 8, 16 and 18), 1 cat and 1 dog.

Encouragement is personal. I m not your typical drill sergeant trainer. I feel that my approach to exercise is much more effective; I customize my reinforcement and encouragement to the client s style of communication. It will work best for you! 2. Don t wish it was easier. Wish you were better. I got serious about training after an unexpected ACL surgery. So I know what it s like to set and achieve big fitness goals! I will work tirelessly with my clients to do the same. It s true. I m a huge Shakespeare nerd. In my spare time? Scuba diving, a few video games, and quality time with my wife, Diane, and our puppy, Stella. My favorites: The Avengers, The Walking Dead, sushi, kale and an occasional treat of tacos!

We're "a house divided!" My mom is a Carolina fan; my dad is a State fan. I root for Duke! My "favorites" in life include Mellow Mushroom Cheese Pizza and "Shawshank Redemption" film and TJ Maxx sales (I'm a shoe person!) I used to cheerlead and run track in high school.
