The Media Design School of Digital Arts at NewSchool is a unique collaboration between NewSchool of Architecture & Design in San Diego, California, and the industry-wide recognized Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand. Media Design School is New Zealand s most awarded private higher education institute for the creative industries. The Auckland-based school offers specialists degrees in emerging creative industries. Alumni are working with worldrenowned companies such as: DreamWorks, Pixar, BBDO, and Saatchi & Saatchi, as well as working on blockbuster movies such as The Hobbit, Avatar, King Kong and films from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Media Design School of Digital Arts at NewSchool is rich in diversity and creativity. With international faculty prominent in the field, you ll be exposed to many different approaches to design and innovative technologies. You ll use the same industry-standard technology in the classroom that you will in the workplace. You ll also be guided by our Career Service Advisors, who are committed to helping you right from the start as you prepare to launch your creative career.

3 PROGRAM OVERVIEW Bachelor OF SCIENCE in MEDIA DESIGN Use your creativity and imagination to bring ideas to life. If you have pictured yourself working in graphic design, advertising, web production, film, animation, television or gaming, this could be the right program for you. You will explore the principles, technology, practical applications, and methodologies that can help you produce creative graphic design solutions. You will also learn the language of web design and begin to create a variety of interactive content for web and mobile devices. Career options: graphic designer, illustrator, visual brand designer, art director, creative director, marketing communications manager, social media designer, web designer, web programmer. Bachelor of Arts in ANIMATION Using industry-standard technology, processes and knowledge, you will create projects that open doors to the world s best animation and film studies. Career options: 3D modeler, compositor, VFX artist, animator, technical director, effects designer. Bachelor of Arts in GAME ART Our Game Art program has been developed to meet industry demand for highly skilled game artists who can create and develop interactive experiences across multiple platforms. You will develop an artistic style through a combination of traditional art, 3D animation and visual effects using industry-standard software which you can apply to multiple industries. The final year focuses on a major game production in conjunction with game programming students. Career options: game designer, game artist, level designer, modeler, animator, texture artist, technical director, art director, producer. Bachelor OF SCIENCE in GAME PROGRAMMING This program combines the strategy and creativity of game development with programming, to create exceptional graduates with a transferable skillset and technical knowledge. You will work across a range of game platforms using commercial grade middleware providers to gain a distinct professional edge which you can apply to multiple industries. In the final year, game artists and programmers collaborate on a major game project that prepares you for the demands of global game studios. Career options: game programmer, game developer, software engineer, network programmer, AI programmer, technical director.
