10 Emergency Information Important phone numbers: Police Fire For emergency preparedness tips, visit In the event of an EARTHQUAKE 1. If you are indoors, remain inside. Immediately duck, cover and hold under a desk, table, or other sturdy shelter. If there is no such shelter stand under the nearest doorway. 2. Evacuate the building when directed to do so. 3. If you are outside, get into the open away from buildings, trees, walls, or power lines. Sit down or lie down and brace yourself. 4. If you are in your car and it is safe to do so, pull to the side of the road away from overpasses, bridges, or power lines. 5. Try to avoid broken glass and falling objects. 6. Avoid using matches or lighters there might be a gas leak. 7. Avoid touching electrical wires which may have fallen. 8. Do NOT use the telephone except for emergencies. In the event of a FIRE 1. Upon discovery of a fire alert all other nearby personnel, your immediate supervisor, and dial Be sure to give the dispatcher the exact location of the fire. Activate fire alarm. 2. What is your name? f. What is your address? 3. Listen for the following clues: a. Age of caller. b. Gender. c. Accent or impediment. d. Background noise. e. Is the voice familiar? 4. 14 BOARD OF EDUCATION SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION Mail Code FAX The Santa Clara County Board of Education is the elected governing body of the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Its seven members serve four-year terms and are elected from different areas of the county. The Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools serves as the Ex-officio Secretary to the Board of Education. The Board of Education generally meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the San Jose Room, Santa Clara County Office of Education.
