1 Secondary Educational Visioning Meeting 1 SANTA BARBARA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FACILITIES MASTER PLAN LPA PROJECT NO DATE: April 1, 2014 TIME: 3:30-5:00 pm PLACE: District Office AGENDA Purpose The purpose of this two-part meeting is to explore forward thinking concepts about secondary school designs and consider how SBUSD strategic plan goals impact the facility planning process. This meeting is Part I. Discussion Items 1.01 Overview of FMP 2 min LPA will share the process and schedule of the Facility Master Plan with the Secondary Educational Planning Committee Connecting the SBUSD Framework to the Educational Environments 10 min The committee will review the Aims of the SBUSD Strategic Plan and discuss connections between these goals and space design. LPA will present design themes related to 21 st Century Learning Spaces and Sustainable Design strategies 1.03 Program Opportunities / Case Studies 10 min LPA will share various Case Studies with the Committee to explore concepts to implement 21 st Century Learning Spaces 1.04 Program Visioning / Small Group Exercise 50 min LPA will share a brief summary of outcomes from the Elementary Educational Visioning Process (5 min) The committee will break into 3 teams to explore the themes and develop concepts for the following spaces using the words and imagery provided as thought starters:*(10 min each) o 21 st Century Classroom Model + Collaborative Learning Areas o Career Pathways o STEM program Each team will have the opportunity to present their poster concept ideas followed by a group discussion to define key elements for focus (5 min each) 1.05 Open Discussion 10 min *Teams will consider the concepts as they relate to JHS and HS including similarities, differences and the matriculation of students through the District.
