THE 24H OF TREMBLANT FOUNDATION The 24h Foundation was created by Mont-Tremblant Resort and a dedicated group of individuals who saw a need to improve the structure of philanthropic and goodwill gestures in their community. Their desire was to help others and have a good time while abiding by the principles of integrity and transparency within an organization dedicated to: Contributing to the health and well-being of children through the selection of beneficiaries that closely reflect the values of the foundation; Organizing charity events to raise funds for the designated beneficiaries; Involving the designated beneficiaries in the organization of events and promoting these through the beneficiaries existing networks; Supporting the Tremblant Foundation, the local children s charity fund. THE STORY BEHIND THE 24H OF SKIING AND 24H WALK It started in 1998 with the creation of Formula Charity, a non-profit association founded and sponsored by Jacques Villeneuve and Craig Pollock. The association s mission was to organise events and activities to raise funds for organisations dedicated to helping sick children. Shortly after its establishment, Formula Charity launched a major annual fundraising event, the Grand Prix 24heures de Villars, in Switzerland, in support of a charitable organisation in the host region. In 2001, Formula Charity brought the concept to Quebec with the first edition of the 24h de ski de Tremblant. Bolstered by the event s European experience, the 24h of skiing was a roaring success from the start, raising more than $300,000. Station Mont Tremblant then took over the production of the event after 2001, at the beginning of each season. The event continued to grow year after year and in 2009, the 24h Tremblant Foundation was created in order to manage the ever growing pool of donations collected by the participants and to ensure continuing transparency Today, the 24h of skiing attracts more than 25,000 people each year, a crowd that includes close to 2,000 participants, sponsors, celebrities, musicians and journalists. The primary activity is a team relay ski race for 24 consecutive hours on the Tremblant slopes. The teams vie for the most descents over the 24-hour period and to raise the most funds for recipient charities. The 24h of skiing is the region s most anticipated social event, annually attracting athletes, artists and philanthropists alike to raise funds for organisations that help children in need. In 2008 Astral, a partner of the 24h of skiing event, decided to create a 24h Walk from Montreal to Tremblant. The idea was to create a major fundraising event and contribute in a different way. With that, a sporting challenge involving a 100 km relay walk was born! It continues to be an event in which the core values are personal betterment, mutual aid, and encouragement. Teams of 4 to 8 individuals relay each other every hour to meet the challenge while doing their part to reach the $2,000,000 fundraising goal. THE 24H OF CYCLING SINCE 2010 In September 2010, inspired by the Tour de Lance, the 24h of cycling was inaugurated on the Mont-Tremblant circuit. This event brought together more than 1,000 cyclists of all stripes. Every one of them took part with enthusiasm and finished richer for the incomparable and meaningful experience. The teams relayed each other from Saturday noon until Sunday noon and raised money for children in need. 91.4% of those who participated in the 24h of Skiing wanted to repeat the experience in 2013 Here are three great reasons to participate: For FUN. Ride in absolute safety on a closed racing circuit through the magnificent Mont-Tremblant region. Spectators and participants alike experience an unforgettable weekend of organised entertainment and outdoor activities. For the CHALLENGE. This unique event is a cycling challenge in which teams of 6 to 12 participants relay each other for 24 consecutive hours on Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Teams meet the challenge of raising as much money as they can for the beneficiary organisations. For the CAUSE. In 2012 the third edition of the 24h of cycling raised an impressive $613,094 through the participation of 125 teams (1,032 cyclists in all). The beneficiaries used the donations to help sick or underprivileged children and to fund various school programmes. THE BENEFICIARIES OF THE 24H OF CYCLING: 8

FONDATION CENTRE DE CANCÉROLOGIE CHARLES-BRUNEAU Fondation Centre de cancérologie The primary beneficiary of the 24h of skiing since 2003, the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles- Bruneau has received more than $4.45 million over the years. The monies helped fund a large part of the construction of the second phase of Sainte-Justine hospital s Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, which was inaugurated in October 2007, and also helped purchase specialised equipment. The 24h Tremblant Foundation has also helped finance the works of eminent researchers in the field of pediatric oncology (umbilical cord blood bank, quality of life, neuroblastoma, etc.). Research has helped improve the odds of healing children diagnosed with cancer and ease the difficulties that accompany treatment. Last November, the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau remitted a donation of 5 MILLION DOLLARS for the renovation of the CHU de Québec pediatric oncology ward, located at the Centre mère-enfant. This ambitious project will serve to combine pediatric oncology treatment and services as well as to purchase specialised equipment for pediatric clients in the greater Quebec City region and eastern Quebec. Projects like these would never have seen the light of day without the unflagging support of the 24h Foundation. Last February 27, the Foundation held an important evening event at the Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau of the CHU Sainte-Justine to express its heartfelt gratitude to its most generous donors. Over the years, the Foundation has counted on substantial contributions from several partners who have each donated more than one million dollars to the cause of children with cancer. To pay tribute to their remarkable support, the Foundation s board of directors unveiled official settings which would each bear the name of a Major Philanthropist partner. On behalf of children with cancer, the Foundation team wishes to convey its warmest thanks and congratulations to the 24h Tremblant Foundation for this great honour. Since 2002, the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau has been very pleased to count on the support of the 24h de Tremblant and its participants in the battle against children s cancers in Quebec. That s how I would describe the 24h experience. It is an opportunity and a privilege for us at the Fondation Charles-Bruneau to share meaningful contact and happy moments with the families whose children suffer from cancer. The 24h weekend allows them to take a break, have fun, and forget, if only fleetingly, that which cannot be forgotten. Look at the money we raise for the cause; the generosity; the energy; the enthusiasm of the participants. Look also at the striving for excellence, the challenge. But more than that, look at the hope that is nourished and seen in the smiles of the children and the eyes of their parents. OTTAWA SENATORS FOUNDATION Founded in 1998 and beneficiary of the 24h de Tremblant since 2006, the Ottawa Senators Foundation supports organisations that offer programmes to improve the quality of life of children and underprivileged youths. The Foundation uses the unique resources provided by the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club to create a positive and long-term impact on the lives of children in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. As a beneficiary of the 24h of skiing, the Ottawa Senator Foundation has received more than $1.3 million. These funds have been channelled primarily to Roger s House, the Children s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation, the Candlelighters, Project s.t.e.p. and the Max Keeping Foundation. The Foundation firmly believes that with the support of community partners, we can play a part by creating resources for the community by offering programmes and financing charity works that give hope to children and youths living in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. With our support, they can practice sports and activities safely and have to opportunity to learn and grow in an environment outside of the confines of school. These values are shared by the 24h Foundation. INAUGURATION OF THE 24H OF SKIING SKATING RINK The inauguration of the Tremblant 24h of skiing skating rink took place on January 11, 2013 at Jules Morin Park, in Ottawa s Lower Town just east of the ByWard Market. Made possible by two annual events the Maharaja s Ball and the Tremblant 24h of skiing the Sens RINC in Jules Morin Park replaced the seasonal rink that the community had been using for years; this was the first phase of the complete refurbishment of the park by the City of Ottawa. With this project, hundreds of children will have a place to run, play, and enjoy plenty of fresh air! 12

THE MARTIN-MATTE FOUNDATION The Martin-Matte Foundation has been a beneficiary of the 24h of skiing since 2011. Primarily active on behalf of head trauma victims, the Foundation s mission dovetails with that of the 24h of Tremblant in that both organisations are staunch advocates of sports safety and the use of helmets on the slopes. The 24h of skiing contributed to the opening of the houses and respite Philou centre. CENTRE PHILOU Centre de répit Philou is a Montreal respite facility for children ages 0 to 12 suffering from severe physical disabilities. Respite care is offered for periods ranging from two days to three weeks. Open seven days a week, 24 hours a day and year-round, Centre Philou accommodates its young clients in a safe and welcoming environment. Instructors and staff care for their young charges with concern for their well-being and encourage their motor, cognitive and sensory development. The Martin-Matte Foundation is proud to help provide more respite care to the clients of Centre Philou. LAURA LÉMERVEIL The Martin-Matte Foundation invests in Lémerveil en action, an initiative of Laura Lémerveil, an organisation whose mission is to provide services that focus primarily on individual empowerment and accomplishment for severely disabled children and teenagers. Lémerveil en action assists children living with cerebral palsy, mental retardation, and epilepsy and others requiring close care such as tube feeding, diaper changing and more. Funded programs provide them with stimulating physical activities such as swimming, horseback riding, and wheelchair skiing in safe, supervised environments adapted to their needs. SACRÉ-CŒUR HOSPITAL The Martin-Matte Foundation helped purchase two intracranial pressure monitoring devices for the trauma unit at Sacré-Cœur hospital in Montreal. A large number of victims of head traumas are treated each year at the hospital and these patients require specific care. The Sacré-Cœur trauma team has helped work real miracles in restoring the greatest possible autonomy to victims of severe cranial injuries. The Martin-Matte Foundation was proud to have supported the initiative to equip the trauma centre with the most sophisticated technology to help improve diagnosis and treatment. In so doing, the Foundation has helped improve recovery rates for children and adults who have suffered head injuries. The money it raises and the fun our team members have, speaks for itself. PROJET ÉQUESTRE GOLDIE Centre équestre Goldie specialises in horseback therapy for children with physical or intellectual handicaps. The Martin-Matte Foundation supports the Centre s projects, including financing of the riding corral renovations so that more than 100 children might enjoy riding therapy in the winter months. The Foundation is also proud to be the sponsor of two horses, Girouette and Nellie. Our experience with the Tremblant 24h of skiing last year was so rewarding that we were happy to reiterate our participation in this wonderful event for the benefit of sick and needy children. Furthermore, the Martin-Matte Foundation is one of the fortunate beneficiaries of this unique event. We make the most of our attendance at this edition to remind you that it is important to wear a helmet. As Martin Matte has said, It may not be as esthetic but it s safer, and you have a better chance of making it to the après-ski. THE CHU SAINTE-JUSTINE FOUNDATION The CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation became a beneficiary of the 24h of cycling in 2012. Its mission is to engage the community and support CHU Sainte-Justine in its efforts to improve the health outcomes of a growing number of children. The 24h is pleased to be associated with the CHU Healing More Better campaign, which was launched in 2013. This major fund-raising campaign has a goal of $150 million over the next six years. The aim is to enable CHU Saint-Justine to invest in new approaches to research, teaching and healthcare in an effort to heal more children and do it better. HU Sainte-Justine, the largest mother-child university hospital centre in Canada, is unique in its kind. On its premises alone it combines the expertise of researchers, doctors, healthcare professionals and support staff, who work together to provide a continuity of healthcare services, instruction, and research. This singular structure gives mothers and children timely access to the latest scientific and medical advances. HOW DONATIONS ARE USED Alexandra is a good example of what we mean by Healing More Better. At the age of 13, Alexandra won the battle against leukemia. Sadly, her victory was bittersweet: she was left unable to have children of her own. Although her cure was a huge success for modern medicine, Alexandra is living testimony that we must do more to heal people better. Being able to guarantee children like Alexandra the healthiest possible future. Promising her that she will suffer no major side effects from her treatments. This is the vision of Sainte-Justine. Thanks to you, CHU Sainte-Justine has the means to carry out this ambitious social project. THE STRATEGY Invest in research for a deeper understanding of disease and find new treatment methods; Bring the best doctors and researchers to each case and offer personalised, customised treatment; Develop bursary programs to train and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals (researchers, physicians, nursing and support staff); Invest in cutting-edge technologies so that children can benefit quickly from the latest advances in medicine. GRAND DÉFI PIERRE LAVOIE The mission of Le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie is to encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. To achieve its goal, the Grand défi has partnered with Quebec schools to help kids make healthier choices in their everyday lives and to build habits that will become the norm for future generations. The three areas of action are physical activity, healthy eating and perseverance at school. In parallel, the organisation also seeks to raise awareness among parents of the importance of a healthy lifestyle for their children s health and, of course, for their own health. With its launch in November 2008, the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie became the largest health-related event to ever be organized in the province. THE VALUES THAT DRIVE LE GRAND DÉFI PIERRE LAVOIE Respect For an organisation whose success depends on the commitment and dedication of thousands of people teachers, volunteers, partners, employees mutual respect is a core value. Audacity Going into homes and schools in Quebec and changing people s life habits takes courage. It takes audacity to succeed. From the start, we dared to think outside the box in our activities and communications because we believe that to get young people interested, you have to be original. Passion To meet the individual and collective challenge of promoting healthy lifestyles, we believe that it is essential to surround ourselves with people driven by a desire to devote themselves completely to the cause, pushing their limits to make change happen. From organizers to participants, everyone shares the same passion. Le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie thanks the organisers, partners, and participants of the Tremblant 24h of cycling. Your support has helped us pursue our efforts to keep students in school. With our Sharpen Your Grey Matter contest in elementary schools in Quebec, Le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie is doing its part to keep kids from dropping out and to implement prevention programs. The Tremblant 24h of cycling has become one of my top events each year. I am very proud to be associated with this initiative. What I enjoy most about the event is the intensity, the atmosphere of camaraderie, and seeing participants who, day or night, are always smiling and happy. THE CEDARS CANCER INSTITUTE Since being founded almost 50 years ago, the Cedars Cancer Institute has raised more than $35 million for the fight against cancer at the McGill University Health Centre. Established in 1966 by a group of dedicated individuals who had all been personally affected by the disease, the Institute has since helped thousands of children and adults in their battle with cancer. THE TREMBLANT FOUNDATION The primary objective of the Tremblant Foundation is to help underprivileged children in the Laurentian MRC to achieve a better quality of life and to develop their full potential in every endeavour, be it sports, education, the arts or cultural activities. Since being established in 1997, and with the participation and generous support of sponsors and partners, the Foundation has distributed over $2 million to assist the region s underprivileged youths. The Foundation has been a beneficiary of the 24h of skiing since its inaugural edition in 2001 and of the 24h of cycling in 2010. Total distributed donations from 1997 to 2012 by the Tremblant Foundation: $2,654,494. More than 54% of this amount comes from the Tremblant 24h of skiing, cycling, and walking fundraising events.
