Your Way to Enrolment For your enrolment you need: 1. The enrolment form, you can get it from the Campus Center. 1a) Hand off the filled form and you will get a number. 2. Your passport with a valid visa. 3. A health insurance. 4. A document that shows that you paid the enrolment fee. 4a) You can pay at the TU with an EC card and your number from 1a), or 4b) Send the money from your bank account, or 4c) Pay cash at the TU bank (not recommended). 5. Any document that is requested on your admission letter, e.g. a legalized copy of your bachelor certification. PEESE Process, Energy, and Environmental Systems Engineering 2
Formalities in Germany You have to fulfill the following steps to be 100% legal in Germany: 1. Get a permanent place to stay, what could be a) with friends in Berlin, b) in a flat share (WG), or c) in your own flat. 2. Register in the next town hall or any Bürgeramt. That for you need some document that confirms your permanent stay, e.g. a rental agreement. 3. Open a bank account: -> Most banks in Germany offer a free giro account for students, moreover they offer some gifts. Check the internet what you like most. Public banks are e.g. the Berliner Sparkasse, Berliner Bank, Sparda Bank, Volksbank 4. Get enrolled at the TU Berlin. 5. Extend your Visa. Normally this is valid for only three month. When you fulfilled the upper steps you shall soon try to get a date at the Ausländerbehörde. It is common that you have to wait more than one month for an appointment! Studying at the TU Berlin In the German University system Attendance in the lectures is not obligatory. You have a lot of liberty in the selection of your courses. There is no time limit for studying. You have to decide when to take the examines. You have to announce your wish for an examine in the Prüfungsamt.
