Vision A 360º view In 2007, Rene Vrey launched her first practice in Strubens Valley, co-branded Dis-Chem Vision. To date, she has successfully opened a total of 5 practices under her own name. Going forward, the Health Professions Council of South Africa approved the trading name Vision Works, which means that the current 5 Rene Vrey operations and all future practices will be known as Vision Works Optometrists. Expansion is planned for Pretoria and several other locations countrywide and this is where you come in: We re looking for several talented optometrists to share in the continued success of Vision Works. Brand Partners not franchisees This is not an optometry franchise type of business relationship. Rather, it is a relationship where you, the optometrist, enter into a BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT with Vision Works Management, working together with our business management programmes, IT solutions, policies and procedures, operating guidelines etc., thus providing your business an effective retail solution designed to help you succeed in a professional and competitive environment. Who should see themselves as a Brand Partner? You need to be a registered optometrist, fully licensed to practice in South Africa and with these attributes Passion for success Keen commercial acumen Strong leadership qualities Commitment to excellent customer service Any optometrist who is either currently part of an optometry franchise, group or chain and feels marginalised by top-heavy decision-making, bad communication with the brand management, no consultation, poor representation and the financial burden of high turnover driven monthly license fees and marketing contributions without getting much in return for your contribution from the franchisor you feel like you re left out in the cold. Any independent optometrist whose practice is being encroached by other optometric chains or groups, and needs the necessary ammunition to compete or relocate. Any optometrist who wants clinical independence, while still enjoying the benefits of being in a group. Any optometrist whose practice has matured and is not getting enough new patients, or where revenue has levelled off, and needs to introduce the next element of growth into the business. Looking out, looking in How does your investment work? You ll need to invest in several areas of the business at different stages... 1 The initial investment To trade as Vision Works (in association with Dis-Chem) we ll ask you for a non-refundable license fee of R10 000 payable when we sign the License and Brand Partner Management Agreement. 2 Ongoing monthly costs Monthly License Fee 6% of gross turnover (ex VAT) covers computer IT, operations manuals, policy procedures, store visits, on-going training etc. Monthly Marketing Fee 3% of gross turnover (ex VAT) covers national marketing. 3 Business costs You ll be responsible for your own business costs including: Stock purchases from approved suppliers Rent as charged by the landlord, per the lease agreement with Dis-Chem Pharmacy Staff costs, including salaries, UIF etc Local marketing costs and promotional activities Fixed and variable expenses eg insurance, telephone, stationery, consumables, tea & coffee, etc Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten.
