2 Our History Introducing the Mr Rental Family Mr Rental was founded by Glen and Kerrianne Hickman in 1991 in Queensland, Australia. After opening a local video store and soon realised they were making more from appliance rentals than video rentals! And so, Mr Rental was born! After 10 years of refining the business model to include business equipment such as data projectors and computers as well as home appliances such as fridges, washers, TV s, sound systems and game consoles, Mr Rental began franchising in The Mr Rental family has grown to more than 60 outlets throughout Australia and New Zealand. Vision - Our vision is the be the world s first choice in home appliance rentals OUR GENERAL MANAGER In 8 years Mr Rental has grown from 1 store on Bribie Island to 60 stores internationally. Store numbers only tell part of the story. we are constantly innovating increase efficiency and bottom line profit Mr Rental is better managed and more prepared for growth than many franchises twice its size. With an eye on the future but a focus on current growth, Mr Rental has a great story to tell. In the last four years Mr Rental s achieved 20.5% increase in turnover, network unit growth of 33% and network revenue growth of 390%. 3 Our Industry A Growing Franchise in a Growth Industry Mr Rental has a very clear picture of who its core customers are. The Franchisor regularly undertakes significant research on current and potential customers in regards to products, service and perception in the marketplace. Current customers can be broken down into five distinct markets which are the focus of the business: 1. Middle to Lower Socio economic 2. Students 3. Young Professionals/Flat Sharers 4. New Migrants 5. Commercial/ Real Estate Total Units The Mr Rental systems adaptability allows us to expand every year into new niche markets LAUNDRY APPLIANCES Mr Rental can deliver these need items within 24hrs OUR FRANCHISEES SAY Mr Rental appealed to us because of the recurring revenue and the lifestyle it offered. We work 5 days a week on our business which gives us time to spend with the kids on the weekend. 4 Financials The Cashflow Advantage Based on a very profitable long-term business model of recurring revenue, Mr Rental provides the franchisee with fantastic cash-flow and income. The recurring revenue model means the business makes the sale once, but gets paid for it time and time again! An appliance is rented once to a customer - and they continue to pay a weekly rental for an average of 15 months. With the average rental life of our products being 5 years, franchisees can expect fantastic returns on their stock investments. Mr Rental has the ability to monitor the financial health of your business through KPI reporting and benchmarking through its exclusive CRM software. This information will be made available to approved candidates to help assist with developing a comprehensive business plan. OFFICE & TECHNOLOGY Our diverse customer base allows us to extend the rental life of high technology products. 5 Your Location Lower Cost Store Location Lower Cost Store Location It is not necessary for Mr Rental to be located in a large shopping centre, in fact most of our stores are located on arterial roads with high visibility and reasonable rent. You wont have to deal with shopping centre tyrants and the money you save on rent can be better spent on building your business. Once your store location is agreed upon, the Mr Rental operations team will assist you with all aspects of the fit-out through to your grand opening. HOME ENTERTAINMENT Renting allows our customers to have the latest products and upgrade regularly.
6 Marketing Local & National Programs Mr Rental continually undergoes market research to accurately identify their primary and secondary target markets. Mr Rental uses a state of the art Software System to map out territories so that we can see exactly where our potential customers are. As a franchisee, you will have the benefit of being part of a co-operative marketing fund which is managed by the Franchisor s National Support Office. By contributing a significant part of the business marketing spend to this fund, marketing avenues not normally at the disposal of a small business can be utilised. The co-operative marketing fund is mostly spent in the areas of mass media marketing, such as TV advertising, Yellow Pages, website, catalogue mail drops and the development of marketing materials such as flyers, vouchers and brochures. Local area marketing activities are organised and implemented by the National Support Office marketing team with little time contribution required by the franchisee, allowing the owner to focus on other strategic elements of the business. Mr Rental assists franchisees with a well developed and easily implemented Local Area Marketing Plan. In addition to advertising for new customers our custom software allows our franchisees to target existing and previous customers while focusing on developing a strong referral program. OUR FRANCHISEES SAY FURNITURE Our research showed that by adding furniture we could increase growth by 20% Mr Rental is a fantastic business for people who want to build their assets while they build their lifestyle. A competent staff infrastructure is in place to underpin our business operations. This has allowed our input to be focused on governance responsibilities leaving operations to be handled by the team.
