76114 Board of Education Meetings Notes June 9, 2014 The Castleberry I.S.D. s Board of Education met in regular session on June 9, 2014 at the Gary S. Jones Administration Building. The invocation was given by Mary Lou Martinez. Joshua Wirtz, a 2007 graduate of Castleberry High School, and the current Campus Computer Technologist for Castleberry High School led the United States and Texas Pledges of Allegiance. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS Renee Smith-Faulkner, Assistant Superintendent of Technology Services, recognized several special employees. Jacob Bowser, Technical Support Coordinator, was honored for his outstanding job in the area of technical support. Jacob assists on the management of 11 Physical VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) servers. Mr. Bowser researched and implemented our new Mobile Device Management solution (MDM) and provides backup support on district wide network and systems issues. Yvonne Thompson, Information Technologist, was honored for her outstanding contribution in the area of electronic communications. Yvonne oversees electronic communication including our Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube sites. She enjoys the outdoors, traveling and spending time with her family. ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES The Board of Education voted unanimously to approve Board Policy Update 99. Administrative staff and the Board have reviewed TASB s Policy Update 99 which is recommended for approval. CONSENT AGENDA The Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda. The consent agenda consists of items that the board considers routine and approves under one motion. The items approved were: 1. Expenditure Report for the month of May 2014. 2. School Meal Price increase for lunch prices for the 2014-2015 school year were included in the report. This increase is required to comply with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. 2013-2014 2014-2015 Breakfast: $1.00 each FREE Elementary Lunch: $2.00 each $2.05 each Secondary Lunch: $2.25 each $2.30 each 3. Agreement for Collection of Taxes and Surety Bond for Tarrant County. CISD has maintained a good working relationship with Tarrant County for the collection of taxes. The cost per account remains the same as last year s cost of $1.10. Currently, Castleberry ISD has an estimated 15,033 accounts.

Master Interlocal Agreement with Region XI Educational Service Center. The Master Interlocal Agreement allows districts to participate in purchasing services through ESC Region XI bidding processes, such as Bus Driver Drug Testing and MrLIBS (Follett for CISD libraries). 5. ESC XI Support Services Contracts for 2014-2015. These contracts include Administrative Services, Comprehensive Services, Instructional Services, Library Services, Internet Access, and Technology Services. 6. Skyward Annual License Fee for 2014-2015 in the amount of $53,629. The Skyward license fee covers the software used by the District for Student Records, Child Nutrition, Finance and Human Resources. 7. Purchase of office/teacher supplies for one additional 12 month period with Matthews Office City as the primary vendor, Office Max and Martin s Office Supply as secondary vendors for office supplies. 8. Extension for one additional twelve month period the purchase of custodial supplies from JanPak as allowed in RFP #12-003. We are satisfied with the service, support and pricing from JanPak. 9. Grading Guidelines: CISD principals have recommended updates to the CISD Grading Guidelines. CONSTRUCTION UPDATE The Capital Improvements Program Projects update report was presented to board members. Jones Administration Building: Electricity, interior drywall has been installed. Painting and floor installation to be complete by the end of the month. Administration staff is expected to begin moving in by July 8, 2014. Irma Marsh Middle School Parking: Concrete is about 95% completed. Lighting will be installed by the end of the month. Painting of the parking slots will occur this summer. Castleberry High School Media Center: Demolition of the Library begins next week.
Board of Education Meetings Notes DONATIONS The Irma Marsh Middle School Athletic Boosters donated food and volunteers for the IMMS annual field day. With their help, the field day was a success. The Castleberry Afterschool Enrichment Program (ASE) received a donation of a sewing machine from Tony and Mary Lou Martinez. The sewing machine will be used by the after school enrichment students as they learn valuable skills. FINANCIAL SERVICES The Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the Budget Amendment. Budget Workshop Session 1: Conducted for preliminary budget development. This is the first of three budget work sessions to be held this summer. Financial Services Executive Director Report: 1. Financial Services Evaluation: The report included information on longevity pay checks, PEIMS submission, and the district budget. 2. Child Nutrition Evaluation: The report included information on meals served, summer food service program, nutritional education and program reviews. Tarrant County Tax Collection Reports for April 2014 reflected the amount of taxes, penalty, interest & delinquent taxes collected for the month and year to date and the percent of the total levy collected. Investment Report for the month of May 2014 showed district investment by fund for the month ending May 2014. Board Budget Report as of May 31, 2014 showed revenue and expenditures by fund and function. Castleberry ISD has received the TASB Risk Management Fund Loss Prevention Grant for $2,200.00. This is the 7th year CISD has received this award. The money will be used to purchase the Positive Proof -Visitor Management Program for the new Gary S. Jones Administration Building and step ladders for every department at the administration building. Tax Attorney Report included information on the delinquent property tax collections. INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES End of Year Review of the District Improvement Plan was presented to the Board of Education. End of Year Review of Campus Improvement Plans were presented to the Board. Each campus principal documented the end of the year review in their Campus Improvement Plan. The Board of Education took the CISD District Community Engagement Survey. Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Report: 1. The Academic UIL Report showed all CISD campuses participated in UIL activities. CISD students showed great success and competitiveness in many areas. 2. Career and Technology Report highlighted student certifications and internships throughout all programs. 3. Counselors Report highlighted the many wonderful programs and support services provided to students, parents, and staff from the CISD counseling staff.
Board of Education, Meetings Notes INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES CONTINUED 4. English Language Arts Report indicated efforts towards the CISD writing focus as well as a integrate literacy plan. 5. Mathematics Report highlighted academic growth success in secondary mathematics as well as mastery of math concepts in lower grade levels. 6. Professional Development Report provided data on professional development provided in CISD as well as summer training options. 7. Special Education Report highlighted the effective pre-intervention programs for speech and the Medicaid SHARS reimbursement program. 8. School Health Advisory Council Report highlighted collaborations with the community and health focus for CISD. 9. Volunteer Report discussed the addition of new software that streamlined accessing volunteers more quickly and an increase in volunteer hours over last school year.
