INTRODUCTION This short course describes the basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required to recognise body systems and their components, and to identify and refer alterations associated with the functioning of the human body in the context of health care work, specifically the Pilates Industry. This course meets the pre-requisite requirements for entry into the Certificate IV in Pilates Matwork Instruction (91492NSW) and the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW. WHY STUDY WITH PILATESITC? WHAT DOES THE COURSE INVOLVE AND HOW LONG TO COMPLETE? The delivery of the Anatomy & Physiology Training Program is through distance learning and involves the completion of online modules and exams, and self-directed learning workbooks. At the completion of this program participants will have an understanding of: Introduction including Anatomical Terminology Tissue types The Skeletal System Joints, Levers and Movement Definitions The Muscular System Common causes of Musculo-Skeletal Injury Other body systems including: The Nervous System; The Cardiovasular System; The Respiratory System; The Endocrine System; The Digestive System; The Urinary System; Reproductive System; Lympatic System. Participants enrolling in the program will be required to: Complete online modules and individual module tests Complete formal online examination at the completion of all online modules. Complete distance learning assessments and submit as directed Participants will be issued with required learning and assessment resources for completion of the program, and will have six months from the time of enrolment to complete the program. A summary of course information is provided below: Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context (HLTAP301B) This unit of competency describes the basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required to recognise body systems and their components and to identify and refer alterations associated with the functioning of the human body in the context of health care work. Successful completion of this program provides participants with the pre-requisite to enter the Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction (91491NSW), and the Certificate IV in Pilates Matwork Instruction (91492NSW) HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED? A variety of assessment methods are used in alignment with the principles of competency based training. Where possible, PilatesITC makes reasonable adjustments in assessment for individual needs. In order to successfully complete the program and be awarded statement of attainment participants MUST: Complete all online distance-learning modules and individual module tests. Complete all required text readings. Complete written examination. Complete self-directed learning workbooks. Note: Students will be limited to two attempts at each assessment or examination (including the first or original attempt). If after 2 attempts, competency has not been achieved, an additional fee of $50 per assessment attempt will be incurred to be able to re-sit the assessment. Re-assessment may also be a result of a participant appealing against the outcome of an assessment decision. PilatesITC has a Grievance/Complaints and Appeals Policy and Procedure, which can be found in the Student Handbook. COURSE FEES The cost of participation in the Anatomy & Physiology Program is AUD $550. This fee includes online student registration including all course required learning materials, assessments, and issuance of Statement of Attainment documents (when successfully achieved). Note: Additional costs incurred at the choice of a participant will be the responsibility of the participant and not PilatesITC. Such cost may include any self-mastery workouts, additional tutorials, additional texts or reference materials, re-sitting of any assessment, any travel or accommodation incurred by the participant, any incidental expenses incurred by the participant at their own discretion. REFUND POLICY Following receipt of the Student Agreement associated with the Enrolment Form, the participant has a one-week cooling off period in which he/she may decided not to go ahead with enrolment. If the Student decides to take advantage of the cooling off period any course fees paid will be refunded minus a $50 withdrawal fee. After the cooling off period has expired there will be no refund allowed on course fees paid. Any cooling off period will be considered to have expired at exactly one week (7 days including Saturdays and Sundays) prior to commencement of the Pilates International Training Centre (a division of Pilates International Pty Ltd, RTO No. 90901) Page 3 of 7
course regardless of when the applicant signs this agreement. Following commencement of the course no course fees paid will be refundable and all payment schedules must be honoured. Unfortunately, we cannot accept responsibility for changes in your personal circumstances or work commitments, which may occur after the commencement of the course. REQUIRED TEXT Students will be required to purchase essential text as outlined below, the cost of which is not included in the course fees. This text will be referred to throughout the program. G.J. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Please read the following carefully before enrolling, then complete and sign the student agreement following and submit a copy of this page to PilatesITC with your enrolment. 1 All cancellations must be received in writing 7 working days prior to the course commencement. A $100.00 administration fee would be applied in this instance. Failure to attend the course without written notification prior to course commencement will result in full fees being charged. 2 Payment in full must be received upon enrolment in order to commence the course. 3 No refunds will be given once the course has commenced. Please refer to PilatesITC Refund Policy outlined in information package above. 4 Deferments: Students wishing to defer their studies, need to apply in writing to the Training Manager. Deferment will be granted for a period of up to six months (there is no monetary action on deferments for a period of up to 6 months).
