Sports Buildings: budget costs for the Flood Relief Fund The list below provides typical costs for flood insurance works, typically required by sports clubs or facilities. The list is not exhaustive but offers a good coverage of likely building works. Not all items are necessarily appropriate for flood resilience measures. To assist your preparation of costs Sport England would expect the involvement of a suitably qualified surveyor or engineer. Evidence of supporting quotes from competent Builders should also be provided where appropriate. Photographic evidence is always considered helpful. When looking to appoint a Builder to carry out floor repairs, upgrade works it is important to carry out your homework / research as you would with your own property. There are many trade organisation websites, such as the Federation of Master Builders http://www.fmb.org.uk. These are useful to identify local contractors and establish their expertise. Ask simple questions ie how long has the company been trading, level of Public Liability Insurance, experience of similar projects with supporting testimonials. Your own club Insurance Provider may have Builders they can recommend. Ensure you receive written quotations and understand the basis of their quote, list of exclusions, assumptions etc. Description Foundations Underpinning - Excavate preliminary trenches down to base of existing foundations (average depth 2m) External Walls Cut out defective facing brickwork and build in new, make good pointing Take down brick external skin of cavity wall as necessary to remove mineral fibre wall batts, fix new wall batts of similar material between wall ties and rebuild brick skin in facing bricks Rake out decayed mortar joints of brickwork 20-30mm deep and repoint Repair damaged rendering, hack off and renew in 2 coats Replace vertical tile/slate cladding fixing to existing battens Replace shiplap boarding with 19mm hemlock boards Cost 90 per m3 10 per brick 75 per m2 35 per m2 90 per m2 Windows & External Doors Remove defective lintel, fix new steel lintel, make good externally and 13mm thick plaster internally (1000mm - 2000mm opening) Clean down window panes externally Carry out minor repairs to timber windows; ease & adjust casement/sash window, overhaul ironmongery 275 each 4 per m2
