Standards 7 Standards Standards The structure Generic communications cabling systems are defined in standards EN 50173-1 and ISO/IEC 11801. In addition, specific requirements for data centers are defined in EN 50173-5 and ISO/IEC 24764. The cabling used in data centers consists of three subsystems: Network access cabling Main distribution cabling Zone distribution cabling Fiber types When using MM fibers, the requirements of class OF-300, using OM3 fibers, must be met as a minimum. Single-mode fibers must comply with category OS1 or OS2, whereby OS1 fibers do not meet the attenuation requirements in each case. The max. extension is 2,000 m. In data centers the main distribution cabling is frequently designed using fiber optic technology, while in smaller networks the external network interface (ENI) is connected directly to the zone distributor (ZD). The standards describe various models for flexible and fixed connections in and between the subsystems. The cabling of the main and zone distribution must, according to ISO/IEC 24764, meet the requirements of class E A for copper technology and transmission classes OF-300, OF-500 and OF-2000 for fiber optic technology as a minimum. 8 VarioLine DC VarioLine Consolidation points (CPs) VarioLine Consolidation points In office cabling (EN 50173-2), consolidation points (CPs) between floor distributor (FD) and telecommunication outlet (TO) offer extremely flexible solutions for rapidly changing office configurations. The CP can be installed in raised floors, inserted ceilings, columns or ducts. From there, flexible cables (CP cables) lead to the data outlets at the workplace. housings. 14 MegaLineNet DC ParaLink High-speed connections LEONI ParaLink cables To meet the extensive requirements for fast point-to-point data transmission applications in modern data centers, LEONI offers fully pre-assembled high-speed cables that exceed the requirements of the IEEE 802.3-2005 Type 10GBase-CX4 standard and of the IBTA (InfiniBand Trade Association) standard. Compared with conventional CX4 and InfiniBand cable solutions, LEONI patch chords offer improved electromagnetic compatibility, which is achieved using special dual screening. This technology ensures interference-free and complete data transmission across the entire transmission path, right up as far as the connector. Thanks to the use of high-quality LEONI ParaLink cables, the systems have typically low attenuation characteristics at transmission distances of up to 17 m (10GBase-CX4) and a data transmission rate of 10 Gb/s per channel. CX4 patch cords LEONI CX4 and InfiniBand patch cords are manufactured semiautomatically. Manual production has been reduced in order to achieve a high level of uniformity in the manufacturing process.
