10 Interference External sources interfere with signal path and impact transmission performances EMI transfer of energy from one device/equipment to another, operating in the same environment. EMI represents EF emissions from PCs, radios, wireless equipment and cellular phones EMC the ability for devices/equipment to operate properly within its environment without being effected by EMI RF Interference (RFI) degrades signals at receptor ends, disturbing frequency transmissions. Technically part of EMI, but RFI relates to presence/absence of total amount of power and proximity to systems; Broadcast communications (AM, FM, VHF) Non-relay communications (fax, telephone, radio control) Mobile commuinications (bluetooth, cellular) Microwave ovens Motors, relays/switches, lighting, electrical equipment drills, welders
11 Why Cat 6a Screened? Augmented Cat 6 is the latest international standard for cabling 500 MHz channel for each link (up to 100m) Unscreened (UTP) cables are up to 30% larger, diameter Vs FUTP/SFTP [fig 1] 40% filled pathways can cause crushing on UTP cabling systems, allowing deformation of cables NEXT [fig 1] Minimum onsite testing for ANEXT required (Alien Crosstalk between cables [fig 2]) ANEXT ANEXT ANEXT AXTalk testing on UTP adds an extra hours for each 24 port panel link Cat 6A UTP cables cannot be mixed with Cat 6, 5e UTP cables due to AXTalk NEXT [fig 2]
