Overview Overview This manual covers setup and use of the Good Connect app on your ios device, introducing you to the features in Good Connect so you can begin securely chatting right away. What is Good Connect? Good Connect is a secure, mobile, instant messaging application that is built on Good Dynamics (GD). It has similar features to consumer instant messaging applications but, instead of connecting to consumer services like AIM, GTalk, Yahoo Messenger, or MSN Messenger, Good Connect connects to enterprise messaging systems like Microsoft Lync and IBM Sametime. Installing the Good Connect App First, you will need an access key to set up your app. There are a couple of different ways to acquire one from your IT administrator: 1. Request an access key from the admin, or 2. Request the URL of a self-service account and issue a key to yourself. Once you have requested a key, it is sent as part of a welcome email to your enterprise. Three parts comprise the access key, each containing five (5) case-sensitive alphanumeric values. When you have an IT-provisioned access key in hand, go to the Apple app store and download Good Connect. The first time you open Good Connect on your mobile device, you ll need to set up the application with your enterprise credentials and register your access key. To set up the application and register your access key, take the following steps: 1. Enter your Email Address and the Access Key provided by IT via email. 2. Wait while the app is provisioned. If you made an error entering the email address or access key, you ll see an error message, as well as a retry option. 3. Read the End User License Agreement and, if you accept the terms, tap Accept. 4. If other devices, including your principal workstation, are also signed in, you will receive a notice advising you Good Connect 1

Using Good Connect of this condition. Simply tap OK. With activation and set-up complete, you re now ready to get started using Good Connect. Using Good Connect Next, we ll briefly cover the major feature areas of Good Connect before detailing how to perform common tasks. Note: The screenshots presented as examples may appear slightly different in an IBM Sametime implementation. The Contacts Screen Use this screen to manage your contacts. The current presence of a contact is indicated as follows: = Available = Busy = Do Not Disturb = Be Right Back = Away = Offline You can chat, add, delete, block or view the history of your contacts. Contacts are further organized by: Pinned Contacts selected by you, and typically your most frequent contacts. Online Less frequent contacts you ve added who are currently online. Good Connect 2

Using Good Connect Offline Less frequent contacts you ve added who currently offline. The Conversations Screen Use this screen to conduct and track your IM exchanges. In the Conversations window, you can also clear a thread or view the contact s info. Good Connect 3

Using Good Connect The Profile Screen Use this screen to manage your status and alerts. Here, you can record a personal message, change your status, sign out, set your inactive interval, turn audio alerts off/on, set the text size of the display, and more. Good Connect 4

Using Good Connect Adding Contacts To add a contact: 1. Tap the Contacts icon. 2. Next, tap the search field and enter the name of the contact you wish to add to your list. 3. Select the contact from the search results by tapping it. On an ipad, once you select a contact, the Info panel offers options like Chat and Add Contact, as well as other contact information. Good Connect 5

Using Good Connect On an iphone, when you select a contact from the search results, Good Connect takes you directly to a chat window. Tap View Contact to display the contact s Info. Tap Add to Contact List to add this contact. You can also chat with, call, or email this contact depending on available software (installed) and the capabilities of your device. Managing Contacts Once you build your list of contacts, you have the following options for each member: Chat Delete View History Block Note: Email and voice options change dynamically as you access your contacts through different devices. Good Connect 6

Using Good Connect If you opt to block a contact, your status changes to offline in their client as long as the blocking is in effect. Your contact list changes to indicate blocked contacts with a. Contact Shortcuts If you are using an iphone, you have the option to swipe the name of a contact in the Contacts list to open the toolbar shown here. Your tools include: = Contact Info Good Connect 7

Using Good Connect Chatting = Chat History with this Contact = Block Contact = Delete Contact You can start a conversation with any online contact from the Contacts screen: 1. Tap the Contacts icon. 2. Tap a contact from your list, one who is currently online. 3. Type your message and tap Send. As your conversation progresses, the screen shows your comments anchored on the right and messages sent to you anchored on the left. These exchanges scroll up as the chat continues, with the newest comment displaying at the bottom. If your company allows editing, tap existing comments to copy and then paste into the text field to use again. After you begin a chat, you can track it in the Conversations screen for example, when you have to switch to a different app while chatting, thus interrupting the conversation. Then, when you re ready, you can resume by tapping the icon and then browsing the list of existing chats for the contact with whom you were chatting. The thread is listed, along with a time or date stamp as appropriate. The most recent conversation will always appear on top. Good Connect 8

Using Good Connect Multiple Simultaneous Chats You can conduct more than one chat conversation and switch between them as needed. Tap any name in the Conversations list to switch threads and see the latest message. Viewing and Searching Your Chat History You can view the record of your conversations by either selecting a contact from your list and then selecting the View History option from the Info panel or by selecting a contact and then tapping. Good Connect 9

Working with Settings Note: A chat history is saved only if you are chatting with someone who is in your Contacts list. You can also search your active chats. Just make sure you are in Chats and use the search field shown here. Working with Settings You can adjust the settings for Good Connect as well as the settings on your mobile device to receive Good Connect notifications. The list of states and their icons will appear somewhat different in an IBM Sametime environment. Changing Your Status on Good Connect Tap to see your settings and customize them. You can set any of the following options: Good Connect 10

Working with Settings Personal Message type a personal message that will be seen by your contacts. Status select the presence status you want others see: = Available = Busy = Do Not Disturb = Be Right Back = Away = Offline Sign In/Sign Out when you sign out, others will see your status as offline. If Good Connect is still open, tap Sign In reconnect. Inactive Status sets the interval of time you can be inactive before Good Connect reflects the Away status to others. Alerts use this option to turn off or turn on the tone which sounds when you receive a message. The tone will only sound when you are actively using the app. Text Size - allows you to increase the font size used within the app. Use the text slider to select the desired size for text bubbles. Other text will be sized proportionately. Good Connect 11

Working with Settings About and License tap either of these to read the text related to the version of the software you are using and the governing license agreement with Good Technology. Changing Notification Settings If you open the Good Connect app and then switch to some other app, Good Connect is put in a background (suspended) state. When operating in the background, Good Connect will send you an Apple Push Notification at the top of the screen or in an alert, when a new message arrives. If you keep the Good Connect app in the background long enough, it will log you out. The default duration is 24 hours, but this is configurable by your company. Ask your IT admin how long you can be inactive before getting logged out. For additional control over Good Connect notifications on your device: Good Connect 12

Working with Settings 1. Open Settings tap Notifications. 2. Tap the Good Connect option. 3. Change the settings as best suited to your needs. The possible options are as follows: 1. Alert Style determines where and how the notification pop-up is displayed on the screen. Select None (no alerts), Banners, or Alerts. 2. Badge App Icon - controls whether or not the Good Connect app icon includes a count of the number of unread messages. Good Connect 13

Transitioning Conversations Across Devices 3. Sounds enables/disables audio notification. This sounds setting for Good Connect does not override the sound setting for the device. In other words, if the option for sound is turned off on the device, turning the option for sounds on in Good Connect will not result in an audio alert when you receive new messages. 4. Show in Notification Center sets whether or not Good Connect message alerts are shown in the device Notification Center. 5. Include set the max number of waiting chat invitations to display. 6. View in Lock Screen Shows Good Connect message alerts on the lock screen and in the Notification Center when it is accessed from the lock screen: Transitioning Conversations Across Devices The information presented here only applies if you are using Good Connect in a supported Microsoft OCS or Microsoft Lync environment. In an IBM Sametime environment you can only sign in to one device at a time. Signing in to any device will automatically log you off of other devices. You can follow an ongoing chat across multiple devices with Good Connect. For example, you can start a chat from your desktop and then continue on a mobile device as you leave your home or office. There is a possibility Good Connect 14

Frequently Asked Questions that, while doing so, some messages may go to the inactive device during the transition from one device to another. When you are signed into multiple devices, Good Connect sends you an alert: You can maintain control over where current chats or conversations are directed, as well as control where future chats are directed, by following these best practices. While not required, they can reduce the risk of conversations going to an unintended device. Scenario 1 transitioning from a desktop client to a mobile device. a. Close the conversation window on the desktop client. As an added measure, activate the screen saver or lock the machine to identify the client as inactive. b. Sign on to the mobile client to register its presence. Scenario 2 transitioning from a mobile device to a desktop client. Be sure to perform at least one of the following procedures on the mobile device: a. Return to the home screen of the device so Good Connect is in the background. b. Open a different app on the device. c. Turn off the display to put the device in sleep mode. Scenario 3 transitioning from one mobile device to another, such as from a phone to a tablet. a. Follow the recommended procedures from Scenario 2 for the device you no longer want to use. b. Sign in on the new device. Note: When you want a conversation to follow you from your mobile device on OCS, make sure to sign into your desktop IM client and sign out from the mobile device. Frequently Asked Questions Listed here are the answers to commonly asked questions. Q: What type of integration exists between Good For Enterprise (GFE) and Good Connect? Good Connect 15

Frequently Asked Questions A: Good Connect is a stand-alone product offering IM and Presence. During an IM conversation, you can view the contact information of the person you are messaging. The contact info panel of Good Connect shows the contact s email address along with other available information from Active Directory. Tapping the email address brings up GFE, composes a new email, and pre-populates the To field in the email. This feature requires GFE v2.0.0 or higher to be installed on the device. Q: How do I know if I have a new IM when Good Connect is in the background of my ios devices? A: You are notified, as shown in Changing Notification Settings, when a new message arrives and Good Connect is in the background. Q: Does Good Connect sign out when the app switches to the background? How does the mobile session work? A: No, Good Connect does not automatically sign you out when the app goes into the background. Good Connect is configured, by default, to keep you logged in for 24 hours (though your IT admin can change this setting). This 24-hour session renews itself every time you launch the app and enter your password. You can also set the Away preferences to change your status after a user-defined time interval.
