It was very interesting to meet different people with different expertise. It would have been useful to see examples of work, curriculum content also! As above. We will take the info on kiva back to our school to share. Ok, maar ik miste het echte innovatieve, heb het artikel over Nederland gelezen en dat vond ik precies beter. It was ok, but not new for me. The anti bullying isn t such a topic for me. I discovered that what I m doing in my school is organized on a larger scale and officialized in Finland. Good informations but the management of this kind of international school is too far for my interest. However the presentation of anti bullying project: good, interesting but theoretical. 4 What is your opinion about the visit of Metsokankaan koulu? Xxxx xxxxxxxxx It was very interesting to see how projects and themed curriculum is utilized to engage with the pupils. The use of ICT was excellent and the online communications with parents are something we would like to use in our school. Particularly interesting, because it was what we want our new school for to like. Wonderful building, excellent hosts great presentation. It was especially interesting for me to see the inclusion class. It was very interesting to see how the teachers work together. That s what we can call a dream school. 2
Impressed by the no stress mood among teachers and students. I was impressed by the infrastructure of the school just also abut the innovative way they work e.g. collaborative learners, inquiry based learners, ICT, inclusion, ) it inspired me for my own pedagogical work. Dream schools, I have had the opportunity to discover the practical implements of the values of the school. 5 What is your opinion about the visit of Tervaväylän koulu? xxxxxx xxxxxxx Excellent resources and approaches to special educational needs. The structure for teaching SEN in Finland is quite different nationally, a none coherent is integrated. Approach whatever I think would benefit all students. The special school as a central learning resource was excellent. Excellent tour of a very impressive SEN provision. I m soon 6 What is your opinion about the visit of the schools on Wednesday? xxx xxxxxxxxxx The school system was very traditional and it was interesting to see the differences between the schools. This school was very different to the IST (Microsoft) school for example. The support for SEN pupils was good in some ways but lacking in others. Very valuable for table in small groups directly for teachers. Interesting to observe lessons. Wonderful new building the tour was lead by the schools English teacher who was honest and informative. It was great to meet the children and see them in class. The discussion with coaches / councilors was great! Goed omdat het meer om een doorsnee school ging. Verschil met metsocangas was toch aanzienlijk. Blij dat ik de verschillen kon zien. Goede uitleg over zorgsysteem en over WILMA. Goeie ontvangst! Many opportunities to see real classes, very friendly hosts, small groups create extra learning possibilities. One of the best visits for me. Very interesting because close to what we are doing in our school (age of students). Very interesting because we could really compare how teachers are working in secondary, we were on the field could talk with lot of different sort of educational professional. Very interesting visit because we could enter classrooms, exchange with teachers and students. 3
A school more comparable to our primary schools, which is good it shows that some ideas of the Finnish system are possible in Flanders. Very nice people. Satisfied to be guided by 2 students / headteacher was attentive to respond to our needs. Minus point: too short time at 12h going back to go to Lastu. 7What is your opinion about the visit of LASTU early childhood? x xxxxxx xx xx xx The observation classroom is excellent for assessment and observing and analyzing good practice it is a resource which is possible under-used and could be opened to other professionals. Impressive and unique facility. Observation room = fantastic resource! I would love to have future connections with this school training facility! Niet echt verrassend. Misschien liever bezoek aan echte daycare. Interesting to hear about it, but for me it took too much time. I would prefer to visit another school instead. It could be combined with the visit of university, only to see and explain the system in 30 min 1h. I would not learn more. Was not essential/relevant. It was interesting to see but it is not something that inspires me, but it shows again the good early childhood (& day cares) possibilities in Flanders for all children not for 51 lucky ones ). We have got time to seat in the aquarium but it was not necessary to stay there during 1 hour or more. I d preferred to meet students learning to teach. 8 What is your opinion about the visit of the Oulu regional vocational college? Xxx xxxxxxxxxx Very impressive facilities and resources, and excellent teacher knowledge. It was an excellent, practical and real life learning experience and opportunity. Very impressive and well equipped facility. Wow! Incredible facilities, great ethos of school sustainable design / took lots of info to take back to our school in Wales. Zeer hartelijke ontvangst, indrukwekkende uitrustingen! Very good to visit the school and to ask more questions to teachers. Could be interesting to see school in our subject. Another kind of dream school, exceptional equipment and the same feeling of wellness among all the actors. The presentation was not always clear to me (may be because I am not involved in vocational educ. myself). 4

Xxx 2 nd pres. 1th pres. Very interesting discussion arose regarding standardization of training. Despite equal education approaches it strikes me that there is not equal distribution of knowledge and training. Excellent thought provoking and debate provoking presentations that encouraged dialogue amongst the group. Fantastic speakers, would have been nice to see some of the facilities and perhaps examples of course modules for trainee teachers. Interessant! Veel voer voor reflectie en discussie. We didn t have time enough to have the presentation and asks all questions. The learning project was interesting but it was to long. Interesting information about the system. Good presentations the questions I had about TE were answered good that Eija was present and involved in the Q & A. Very informative. Pity that the presenter was not so clever: his slideshow is perhaps complete but he picked slides here and there then presentation becomes confused for me. The theory at the beginning of the week gave us better knowledge and information to ask questions and discover more! Yes, excellent variety of events managed for fit a lot in. Yes, everything has been perfect in terms of pace. Zeer interessant. Sometimes too much powerpoint. 2 Did you have the opportunity to interact with other colleagues and to learn Xx x from each other? Yes, we had a lovely group who worked well together and there were lots of opportunities to discuss and share ideas and experiences. Yes, plenty of opportunities for reflect and debate in formal and informal situations. I have made some great professional connections which I hope to develop and create school relations for future projects. Vooral interactie met Nederlandstalige, ook omdat er geen andere mensen uit basisonderwijs waren. Wel gezellige groep. I think also important to interact with the participants of other schools / countries to learn not only the Finnish system but also of others. We were talking a lot during free time and comparing situation of each other. Sharing is always a richness. The reflection groups and breakfast meeting gave many possibilities to interact + jus rides and walks to schools, restaurants, xxxxxxxxxx 3 Did the reflection make sense to support your learning? x xxxxx xxxxxxx We were able to discuss both practice and theories and understand what we were seeing and observing. Bezoeken en uitwisselingen helpen ook om samen na te denken over aantal theoretische inzichten en hun praktische gevolgen. It was very useful to discuss about possibilities for our school. A good range of visits to see the full overview of the Finnish education system. Good variety, plenty of detail, well organized, good discussion within the groups. School visits, meeting colleagues from Belgium and Finland. 7
Fantastic overview of Finnish education system. Structure of course really enjoyed smaller groups sessions. Goede organisatie! Veel tijd voor vragen en discussie. Jammer dat we op eerste avond niet dieper konden ingaan op de verschillende redenen waarom deelnemers naar Finland kwamen. For my situation (too much) primary visits. Less pedagogical exchange practical, concrete, pedagogical tools, tricks, Maybe more exchanges with teachers, to talk about their way of working (really in the classroom), organizing with other teachers (co-teaching etc.) Not really an opportunity to visit an upper secondary school. The introduction sessions was a bit messy. A lot of (important!) background information on Monday difficult to observe everything. De opeenvolging van uiteenzettingen in een voor ons vreemde taal. Het vertrouwen in leraren, de lerarenopleiding in sommige aspecten, de lerarenkamers, Nu zoeken naar combinaties tussen goede Finse en goede Vlaamse zalen. 8

Reflecting about a way to implement more supports to help students in their studies, in the classroom, Trying to inform our network authority, about different opportunities, ways of working, etc I noticed several good ideas that we could perhaps implement in our school. Hebben we zelf moeten vragen tijdens een bezoek. Toch belangrijk! Ook i.v.m. individueel development plan van leraren. Kwam slechts ter zijde aan bod. More group visits, tot o be able to orientate the visit with the level + topic of the origin school. For example: Follow 1 day a teacher in the subject that I teach in my class. Organise in 6 months a meeting to change what we adapt in our schools, regarding what we have learned in the study visit. Feedback necessary (even through the share point). Perhaps more contacts with teachers. Maybe we could have the PPTS of the Monday sessions available (online) during the visit then we could reread them during the visit (if we want to know: how was that again?
