2 employager 1.0 design challenge a voyage to employ(ment) DESIGN CHALLENGE EMPLOYAGER 1.0 On the initiative of the City of Eindhoven the Red Bluejay Foundation organizes a new design challenge around people with a distance to the labour market. Background information: Per January 1st, 2015 the new Participation Law has become effective. The law envisions to have as many people as possible with and without a work handicap find work. The Participation law replaces the Wet werk en bijstand (Law Work and Benefit) the Wet sociale werkvoorziening (Law Social Work Provision) and a large part of the Wet werk en arbeidsondersteuning jonggehandicapten (Law Work and Labour Support for young handicapped). DESIGN CHALLENGE The Employager 1.0 Design Challenge addresses particularly finding solutions for people with a distance to the labour market. This distance can be due to physical handicaps, mental disorders or factors such as age. What does Employager mean? Employager is literally a voyage to employ(ment). In the case of people with a distance to the labour market, the movement needs to come from both the future employee as well as the employer. The designers can be the mediators in this case by coming up with smart and practical solutions to overcome this distance. This way they give the designers enormously important input for the continuation of the concepts. 4 ARE YOU A DESIGNER? When hearing the word designer we quickly think of products like furniture or lamps, or maybe a digital design a website or a logo. There are, however, many more ways of designing: and coming up with new ideas can in principle be done by everybody! A design can be a method, a technical solution, an app, a coaching tool. Look at the persona s that we aim to help with this design challenge; what would you do to help them? A PANEL OF JUDGES WILL REVIEW THE CONCEPTS After the closing date for the entries, a panel of judges will review the concepts on quality, feasilibity and innovativeness. The jury also forms a multi-disciplinary team and is headed by Alderman Staf Depla of the City of Eindhoven.

6 THIS IS OUR TEAM The Red Bluejay Foundation is spin-off from the Holst Centre in Eindhoven, where many of the concepts of the Foundation find their origin. The knowledge around Open Innovation, and mostly co-creation has now become available through Red Bluejay for other work fields than only the High Tech world.
