Trinity IDP / 1 Trinity IDP was created in 1973 as the Individualized Degree Program, the first adult degree option of its kind in the area. Over the decades, over 700 IDP students have earned Trinity bachelor s degrees and many academic honors. If you re thinking about returning to college to complete your bachelor s degree, we hope you ll consider Trinity IDP. Trinity College, nationally recognized for our liberal arts and sciences education, welcomes IDP applicants age 23 and over. IDP students bring a range of life experiences to Trinity. Some are seeking to advance in their current careers, some to prepare for a career change, and still others to discover new life directions. Many students balance the demands of a family or a job (or both) with their studies. They may be in their 20s or their 60s, or anywhere in between. Some are recent graduates of two-year colleges and some had their educations interrupted years ago. As a group, they reflect the full diversity of the region. But all IDP students share the desire to engage in a challenging, substantive education. Independent study Faculty members support and advise students who want to pursue their own research or other independent projects. Study abroad Trinity has its own campus in Rome and six international program sites around the world, together with partnerships with many other programs. U.S.-based off-campus options include the Trinity/La MaMa Urban Arts Semester in New York City and maritime studies at Mystic Seaport. Academic internships Trinity s network of more than 200 established internship placements gives students the opportunity to extend classroom learning and explore new career interests. Community learning Students encounter experiences they could not get in the classroom through academic courses where faculty members work in partnership with local community groups. a

Trinity IDP / 5 Your Trinity Community Trinity IDP attracts adults who are looking for a rich educational experience, together with services adult learners need and want. Trinity IDP will welcome you with a faculty adviser and an IDP student mentor, membership in the student IDP Association, and the IDP Lounge for studying and socializing. At the same time, you ll have access to all that Trinity offers. IDP students enjoy taking classes with traditional-age undergraduates, where they bring perspectives and life experiences that enliven the discussion. And even with your busy life, you may be surprised to find that you can fit in a guest speaker, a workout, or membership in a student organization. Support and services just for you Academic transition and support The IDP Transitional Seminar, taken by all entering IDP students, is designed to help you make a successful transition to Trinity. While devoted to an important topic, such as globalization or social class, the seminar also emphasizes analytical reading, critical thinking, discussion, and writing skills. A research and instructional librarian for IDP students. An IDP-only section of Math 101. Math and writing centers. Dedicated resources The IDP Office, staffed by a faculty director and assistant director. Designated staff members in the financial aid, registrar s, and career services offices to serve the particular needs of IDP students. Academic flexibility Full- or part-time enrollment Study units, essentially traditional courses redesigned for IDP students to take independently under faculty guidance. To be eligible for financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA on line by and submit all required documents to Trinity by: April 15 for the fall semester, or November 15 for the spring semester. Committed to Affordability We do everything we can to make a Trinity education affordable to IDP students through need-based financial aid and per-course tuition. We meet the full, calculated need of students for up to two courses in each of the fall and spring semesters and, when possible, during the two summer terms. Calculated need is established via the FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and it includes expenses as well as tuition. You will be informed about your financial award at the time of your acceptance to Trinity If you are a Phi Theta Kappa Scholar at a two-year college or a U.S. military veteran, you can take advantage of specialized financial aid programs at Trinity. IDP students typically excel at Trinity and continue to achieve long after graduation. Most IDP students come from Connecticut and develop their careers in the state. They follow diverse paths, including professional positions in large and small businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. A significant proportion of IDP students go on to graduate study and earn advanced professional or academic degrees.

About Trinity College Overview A private, highly selective liberal arts and sciences college located in the capital city of Hartford, Connecticut. Founded in 1823 and consistently listed among the nation s best colleges. Degrees offered: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts. Approximately 2,400 full- and part-time undergraduate students, about 100 of whom are in Trinity IDP. Student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1. Personalized Admissions IDP students come from such diverse backgrounds that admissions is a highly personalized process, with each application and transfer-credit decision evaluated individually. Applications for admission are reviewed on a rolling basis, with deadlines of April 15 for fall admission and November 15 for spring admission. Admissions decisions are made by the IDP Council, a rotating group of faculty dedicated to working with adult students and helping them identify the resources they need to succeed at Trinity. After students are admitted, IDP Council members serve as their academic advisers and oversee their academic progress.
